Isn't releasing this in March a bad idea?

We have so many games coming out around then, I'm getting a distinct feeling that this is going to get heavily overlooked compared to heavy swingers like Animal Crossing or Doom Eternal.

I love PMD, I'm so happy it is not dead. Its been so long since super I really thought they wouldn't touch the series again. I legitimately like PMD more than the mainline games - specially now with everything surrounding SwSh

Its a remake, not a new entry, but its still means new games are possible

I have fond memories of Blue Rescue Team, and booting up the demo gave me that instant hit of nostalgia. Even though I'm not sure yet what to think of the new art style, the game still has most of its charm. Sadly, I feel that the gameplay has not held up well - something about it just doesn't feel right. It's this strange combination of the transition to 3D, a bit of apparent input lag, and the strict grid-based nature of the mechanics that just doesn't mesh well for me. It feels ... clunky. I hope that perhaps some of that is resolved in the proper release by addressing some of the control input issues.

I'm unconvinced by the demo. It's very grid-like and feels cumbersome. There also doesn't seem to be much depth to the dungeons, it's just, run around, kill enemy, pick stuff up, and find stairs. Maybe there's more to it later on but I'm not sure I'll interested enough to find out.

It feels like a remake in graphics only, at least to me, someone who hasn't really played a mystery dungeon game before.
Mystery Dungeon are: Good stories, lots of content and extremely simple and repetitive gameplay.

Still prefer the sprites in the original. I feel like hand-drawn Pokémon instead of the same 3D models we've seen for years would've fit way better given how the backgrounds look. That being said I love the art style and I'm impressed with how expressive they made the 3D models.

And I was not ready for the nostalgia wave from the music. It felt like I was in 2006 again 😭

Just chatted with Nintendo support and they mentioned that the voucher list will expand in the future, the representative just wasn't sure exactly when and what games would be included. It sounds like Mystery Dungeon should eventually get updated to be part of the list.

It works now. Thank god.

Man the demo is pretty good. It's just like how I remembered it, the story in these ones is top tier too. Came out of no where and I'm psyched for it in March.

Wow, so that demo was super fun. I'm happy to have finally discovered this series. I can already tell this game will scratch my annual Poke-itch if I don't like what I hear about the Sword/Shield expansions.

Playing a game with (mostly) Gen 3 or earlier Pokemon is going to be wild in 2020

Makes you want to make a Netbattle team and post on NSider speculating about Manyula's and Manene's english names

aw man, they added in the pushing mechanics from Super Mystery Dungeon. I really wasn't a fan of those.

Let's all be honest. We all gonna have to spend 10s it hours trying to get every Pokémon to be friended with friend zones. And I am more than happy to do it again.

Shame the demo is so short, really loving the art-style. I'm gonna pick this up day one.

I finished the demo, and I'm feeling nostalgic. Definitely some QOL changes either new or brought over from Super (being able to change leaders without having to do post-game like in the original is appreciated). March is just going to be this and Animal Crossing for me.

I always found playing as pokemon to be much more interesting than playing as trainers. Might be the first Switch game I pick up in a while.

I ask because I'm sure i've seen online in the direct.
the original games had a password system that allowed players from either version to come to the dungeon you were exploring and rescue you (which in your game fully restored you and your teammates)

there has never been any sort of "true" online in the sense that you're playing with another person

Thought the art-style was slightly questionable at first, but I'm reeeeally coming around on it. I still don't know if I care for the way the animations are handled, but I get why they're the way that they are.

Definitely going to pick this up sometime down the line because I am a fool and nostalgia has a hold on me for these games, but probably not at launch.

I might reset and play as Treecko... I picked Charmander because that's who I picked back in 06 but I'm itching for something new.

How am I supposed to choose who to pick?
Without even counting the starters, Eevee, machop, and Cubone were like my top 3 first stage Pokemon back during R/B, and then you have Psyduck, Pikachu (can they evolve on Red/Blue Rescue Team, I can't remember?), plus Bulbasaur (Ivysaur is best Pokemon), Squirtle, all three Johto starters, and Mudkip.

Thought I wasn't getting a Pokémon game till Detective Pikachu 2, but I really liked the original and never played the 3DS games despite buying one or two, so I'm down! I do wish it was a new game or remake of one I haven't played, but if this leads to more of them...

There's also something about the art style that feels a tiny bit off, hmm. I really like what they're going for, but I think they're a little too close to the regular models/designs still; I feel like they could have stylized them a bit more? Certainly glad to see them try something vs stuff like the Mario & Luigi remakes, though.
