Quick resume is a definite then, that's good. Review is pretty glowing overall.
"Like the Xbox Series X, the PlayStation 5 is also able to quick resume a game if you turn it off and come back to it later. Although the Switcher icon that some noticed on the Home menu is basically just a history button, showing you the last few games or apps that you used and starting them up from scratch if you want to play them again."
That's not quick resume...that sounds like the regular suspend/resume on PS4
Is quick resume really needed when it boots games in ~7 seconds anyway?
I assume Metro jumped the gun on this review too, oops.

That's true, doesn't really matter either way when PS5 loads games from scratch as fast as other consoles resume them.Unfortunately they do not talk about if this is for multiple games or just one game that is suspended when turning off the console

LOL where the hell did they get this information ?Sony were clearly planning to have even more ready for the PlayStation 5's launch, with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart using every trick in the console's book but now delayed until early next year.
I would bet the vast majority of people will be running PS4 games off the ssd, not an external drive. It's not a huge deal but it would be nice to have. Especially with the backwards compatibility which won't be SSD optimised and will in most cases be running off an external drive.
Yes because quick resume is more like a game state that suspends at the spot you left it. Not all games have the luxury of auto saving or save anytimeIs quick resume really needed when it boots games in ~7 seconds anyway?

i think the better thing about quick resume is you don't have to worry about checkpoints or saves, it is basically a save state. Is quick resume really needed when it boots games in ~7 seconds anyway?

there should be some DMCV coverage too
Eh, I think activities might end up being more useful than Quick Resume
LOL where the hell did they get this information ?
Sony never said or implied anything about Ratchet available at PS5 launch
Soo... it doesn't have the equivalent of quick resume then"Like the Xbox Series X, the PlayStation 5 is also able to quick resume a game if you turn it off and come back to it later. Although the Switcher icon that some noticed on the Home menu is basically just a history button, showing you the last few games or apps that you used and starting them up from scratch if you want to play them again."

they're not an enthusiast gaming site or anything which i think explains the lacking detail.Metro's review is very weirdly written, and the Ratchet Delay part is just ???????????
Eh, I think activities might end up being more useful than Quick Resume
That makes it sound way more useful than just stacking games in a pile to load back into whenever!i think the better thing about quick resume is you don't have to worry about checkpoints or saves, it is basically a save state.
It's a trashy, 'free' tabloid in the U.K. which relies on clickbait to generate clicks. This misinformation is expected by themMetro's review is very weirdly written, and the Ratchet Delay part is just ???????????
waiting on the " no quick resume" thread to be the biggest ps5 thread today.I understand if you turn off the console and then you turn it on you continue that one game were you left. That is NOT quick resume.
Just bullshit assumptions, the idea of insomniac bringing out 2 games for launch day is ridiculous.Metro's review is very weirdly written, and the Ratchet Delay part is just ???????????
Especially for a multiplayer gamer like me just the thought of going straight to a match from the home screen is a game changerEh, I think activities might end up being more useful than Quick Resume
Considering it can be used to jump to seperate levels I could see it being able to access savesIf it can be used to jump in a game last save, it's basically the same.
Not quite the same, since you don't need to reach a save point or check point for quick resume, but honestly it's not that big of a difference. If it can be used to jump in a game last save, it's basically the same.
yeah, i also think there's nothing stopping them from implementing it later, maybe they don't want to reserve even more of the internal storage atm since there's no way to increase it at launch! That makes it sound way more useful than just stacking games in a pile to load back into whenever!
Cards/activities could be used in a similar way based on the way the Fortnite update uses them maybe? Like a card to jump back in at the spot you previously left the game. That seems like something patchable if it isn't in by launch.
They have their pro and cons depending on the situation. I don't see either of those options as superior. I hope sony and ms are copying the other thing at some point.Eh, I think activities might end up being more useful than Quick Resume
