it's real for a lot of series in lots of countries... like a lot of people argue between original south park and french south park... so of course it would happen in japan too, lol
as for me, it's subbed everytime, regardless of the country, i always prefere watching something in the original language

I taught some 18 year olds a few years ago and only one of them knew what VHS was.
The same kid also knew what a floppy disc was because they'd been curious about the 'save' icon.

Yup, helped with a garage sale recently, and the kids thought VHS tapes had books inside. We are old.
Sure! But they have been in people homes for a really long time... VHS tapes for example first appeared on the mass marked in the 1970s, and were officially outdated around 2006 after film studios stopped producing movies on VHS in favor of the DVD format.
So it was what, a solid 30 years of use? And the VHS format stopped being used not so long ago in the late 2000s. I'm shaking my head at the people not knowing they existed at all.
