The PC version is pretty damn good. It runs great, loading is instant and my only minor gripe is that image quality could be cleaner. It's a lot better than the console versions, but the AA is just a tad too ineffective. nVidia control panel FXAA helps a bit. It's a minor issue though.

Does Rendering Scale even work? I've tried setting it from 0.5 to 2.0 and I can't tell any difference in image quality either way.

As for the game itself, I really like it so far. Stylish fun with a lot more "regular" Persona 5 feel to it than I expected (I stayed away from most pre-release media/discussion). Combat is obviously a lot different, but they integrated the core components of Persona 5 in a recognizable and fun way. It's great to revisit the gang again and go on a new sequel adventure with different mechanics and a more straight forward, linear approach.

Yeah, aside from the image quality issues, I'm very happy with the port. It runs very smooth and even has dualshock native support. And the areas all look notably better than they did in P5/P5R.

I avoided pretty much all coverage of this game as well and so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has exploration bits outside of battles.

Okay so with performance and graphics mode do they both run at 60fps on ps5 or is it 30 on graphics mode?

Bought this pretty much blind...till yesterday just assumed it was a Persona-skinned Musou and hearing it's almost like a full fledged sequel with RPG elements got me excited...

Hoping it clicks with me. Is there any major branching story paths here or BAD END to be aware of?

Doe the calendar advance in this game if you enter and exit a jail? I'm just wondering if it would be possible to exit when SP is getting low, and then re-enter the jail again, or will it be like normal Persona games where you'll "lose the day" and advance your deadline for completing a jail that needs to be done before a certain day.

Nope, it doesn't work like P3/4/5 in that regard. The calendar just advances as the plot does.

It doesn't advance, no. Feel free to exit and enter as many times as you like.

Whoo! Thanks for the quick responses, now I can tediously grind to my hearts content, and unlock that bond for regenning HP and SP after a fight.

Oh good, I was under the impression there was still some time management elements which is fine but in a spin-off I'm relived they're gone.

So no missables here? Content is based on how much you want to go after?

The only missables that come to mind is that usually after the end of a given arc you'll have one last chance to go around town and do any side events, etc. before the team moves on, but the game is very clear about asking "are you done with everything here and want to move on to the next arc?"

Persona 5 Strikers is the direct continuation of the true ending to the original Persona 5, so no characters or events featured in the Royal edition are referenced.
I thought it was more close to royal because
The Phantom Thieves didn't take the road trip right after the events of P5R (it seems to be more of a meetup at the start and it mentions Haru and Makoto being in college, so this is the road trip they delayed off, while P5 Vanilla had the road trip instantly after the end.
From what I've heard a while ago when the game came out in Japan,
Someone says something near the end that's goes "a guy once told me [guy apparently being a P5 Royal character] blah blah blah:
...but that's an extremely minor thing.

I planned on getting this on the Switch the very minute it was announced but ultimately decided on the PC, and I gotta say, bumping this up to 4K, increasing the render resolution to 2.0 and it being locked to 60fps is making all of the difference in the world.

Got to 7/31. Soundtrack hasn't missed yet.

It's cool this game is the highest rated musou game (by omega force) on metacritic. The hack-n-slash gameplay was stale to me post Dynasty Warriors 4 but the loop here is solid.

They don't go on a road trip at the end of vanilla. They are just going to drive Joker/Morgana home and kinda joke about doing one more job (which Yusuke objects to).
Atlus and the director of Strikers have already stated that it follows the ending of the OG P5 but that fans that either played Royal or watched the anime instead can stil enjoy the game.

No characters from P5R show up or are referenced in the JP version of Strikers. The game was made with OG P5 in mind.

You're eating the boss's curry leftovers for breakfast. It lost some of the freshness and complexity, but it still has that distinct taste and a decent amount of meat and potatoes.

I'm 140 hours into Royal and still haven't finished it yet. Reached the critical point in November and, after watching all of it unfold, I decided to take a break from it and started Sekiro lol . After ending it, I will come back to finish the second half of the game.

Funnily enough I feel like I'm getting through the game quicker this time around due to being able to get through dungeons in one day and being able to level up social stats easier (less forced sleeping) and understanding where to go next, advancing story scenes quicker which I all ready remember from my playthrough years ago etc. Excited to see that new final part of the game the most but the new characters/elements have been really good.

Is it just me or is the HUD in the combat kinda (and I really hate to use this term)... busy? Along with party stats, your own stats, the map, your objectives and that damn bottom line with control reminders, I feel like I'm barely seeing what's going on on the battlefield.

I'm hoping someone eventually makes a mod that lets you hide the UI with a button press

Or, you know, the devs patch it in

Any one else have a cut scene go all wonky on them at any point? I'm on 7/27 and the scene with Ann and Alice seemed to glitch or something. The portraits stopped showing up, and the speech bubbles don't show up until after the audio finishes playing.

EDIT: And now nothing shows up on screen when a dialogue choice pops up so I'm basically locked in the scene.

Oh and the VA sounds great as usual to me. I totally wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't done in a studio. In fact, the performances seem a bit better to me, like the VAs returning to well-known characters they can pull off with greater confidence. I might be imagining things, just that I'm finding some of the line delivery better than in PS5 Vanilla.

9 hours in, and I still don't quite understand how to navigate battles lol they are either too short, or it's a bunch of enemies I can't make any sense of when they're gonna attack me to even respond in some way, I feel the camera is a bit sluggish but I also probably suck at seeing things with all those enemies so close together.

I honestly love it in spite of this, still didn't finish the first jail, but I'm surprised at the quality they put in the art direction, I thought we would see maps like that underground part in the beginning through the whole game lol

So it seems there's just no way to get the Persona 5 Save bonuses on PC? It'll probably be modded in later I guess.

About an hour in so far and loving it, so glad to be back into another P5 story.

I literally platted Royal last week and haven't played anything since, until now. Feels good!

Just wanna add my own brief testimony to help bolster the message:

I usually bounce right off of musou games, but I liked Persona 5 well enough to be excited about the possibility of a sequel. This game feels a lot more like a proper action RPG than a musou and I'm super grateful for that and am super intrigued to see how the story shakes out after 4 hours of play or so.

This game is pretty cool and I'm very glad it doesn't feel like a proper musou.

You can actually hide the bottom line with controls in configurations. It's still gonna be busy though since some elements are unusually big.

I plugged my controller in to charge and then the game audio stopped working. That and the low res UI are the only issues I've run into so far.

Everything about the combat is a busy mess. I'm really not into it at all so far. Not to mention how godawful the level design is in this first jail.

Played this just for a bit, seems pretty good. I gotta finish Curse of the Moon 2 before GOTY voting closes, then I'll get into Strikers more seriously.

Played about an hour of this, seems fun but Musou gameplay as bit sized encounters feels a little off...

Maybe it'll grow on me as I imagine it'll get deeper with more characters and such being playable other than just Joker.

Guess I just need to hope something like that doesn't happen again, since after closing the game Steam still said it was running and I couldn't get it to open again without restarting my computer.

It's at the bottom of the OP.

I heard about a bonus for having save data?
If you have save data from Persona 5 or Persona 5 Royal, two additional battle themes, Last Surprise and Take Over, will be unlocked for use in Persona 5 Strikers.
Because the two games aren't available on other platforms, the requirements are different.

Switch: Must have Super Smash Bros. Ultimate save data AND own the Joker Challenger Pack DLC.
PC: Complete the game once.

Please note that despite also being available on Steam, owning Persona 4 Golden does not offer any additional benefits other than owning Persona 4 Golden.
