A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Digital Edition
- Uzzy - Out 6th October

A digital version of one of the very best board games of recent years. A Game of Thrones: The Board Game is a game of negotiation and duplicity as you control one of the great houses of Westeros in a fight to the death for control over the Iron Throne. Take your turn placing hidden orders to your units, while persuading your neighbours that of course they aren't going to attack, before murdering them in their sleep. Refight battles from the books or create your own. The original board games main weaknesses were how long it could take to process all the combat and the physical side of the thing, which a digital version should instantly fix, while leaving all the delightful deception and scheming in place. This is sadly missing the Mother of Dragons expansion, so there's no House Arryn or Targaryen, but there's still plenty just with the six great houses we get.

Afterparty
- Uzzy - Out on Steam 22nd October

Afterparty, from Night School Studio, the developers of Oxenfree, is finally coming to Steam this month. You play as Milo and Lola, two recently deceased best friends who find themselves in Hell. But there's one chance to get out and get back to Earth: outdrink Satan. A narrative drinking game, Afterparty was described as 'the definitive night out' simulator, with a great cast and killer writing, funny throughout and sobering when needed.

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition
- Uzzy - Out 15th October

From Ensemble Games and Tantalus Media, Age of Empires III takes the beloved Real Time Strategy series into the Age of Colonisation, with various European powers jostling for dominance of the New World. While the original AOE3 never quite had the same love and adoration as the first two in the series, perhaps this definitive edition will breath new life into this title. Of note, the developers at least seem aware that the perhaps overly romantic take on colonisation the original game had isn't quite acceptable, and seem to have worked with experts to lessen some of that.

Amnesia: Rebirth
- Oinone - Out 20th October

First of: Rebirth is not a remake of Dark Descent, but a new entry to the franchise. Unlike Machine for Pigs, it's also completely developed by Frictional Games themselves.

During a time where Resident Evil got more and more action focused and Silent Hill struggled to regain its former glory, Frictional Games released their Penumbra series and blew new life into the horror genre.
With a creepy atmosphere and no means to defend yourself, you would wander through a spooky world, solving puzzles every once in a while, some being based on physics. You would have to throw a rock at a rusty lock, to break it, for example. You also have to move the mouse accordingly to open a door or turn a valve. This was something quite unique back in the day. They polished this formula with Amnesia: The Dark Descent and cemented their success.
Then Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs came. Not a direct sequel, but taking place in the same universe. It was developed by The Chinese Room, and reduced the gameplay a lot, turning it more into a walking simulator, what led to rather negative (maybe often too negative) reviews.
Frictional Games themselves released SOMA as their next game, and again set a new mark. This time with an outstanding sci-fi story about copying one's mind.
And now, shortly after Amnesia's 10th anniversary, they are back to the roots with Amnesia: Rebirth, with well-tried mechanics and new ideas.
Take control over Tasi Trianon, sneaking through the desert of Algeria, trying to find out, what the hell has happened to her in the last days, she can't remember. What secrets does her past hold?
While games like Outlast scream at you to make you scared, Amnesia lingers around you, wrapping you in an unpleasant feeling of unsafety, with spooky sound effects and an atmosphere so thick, you could cut it.

Put the lights out and the diapers on and dive once more into the world of oblivion.

Baldur's Gate 3
- Uzzy - Out in Early Access 6th October

From Larian Studios, developers of the multi-award winning Divinity: Original Sin series, comes the return of a legendary RPG, Baldur's Gate, in this turn based role playing game based on the 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons ruleset. Gather your party and venture forth!

Biomass
- Mentalist - Out 9th October

A post-apoc pixel-art souls-like. An interesting title that's supposedly got very difficult combat, but is also focused on exploration. Interacting with NPCs matters, and so does finding out more information about bosses and their weaknesses- this can open up opportunities to find unique ways to defeat them, or to avoid confrontations altogether.
I am less clear about this one, but it seems to offer a really unique world to explore, so I'm curious about it to say the least.

Chinatown Detective Agency: Day One
- Uzzy - Out 2nd October

Developed by General Interactive Co, Chinatown Detective Agency: Day One, is a free prologue chapter, focusing on Amira Darma's first day as a Private Investigator. Manage the new agency situated in the heart of Singapore, deal with mysterious clients, go on a globetrotting adventure and rely on your real world research to solve the mystery and save, or damn the city.

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?!
- Uzzy - Out of Early Access 8th October

The latest sequel to the best selling series, Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! from Vertigo Gaming sees you cross the war torn remnants of the United States in a food truck, delivering good dining and good times while competing in the Iron Cook Foodtruck Championship, accompanied by your totally reliable robot crew. Featuring hundreds of recipes, a campaign with drop in and out co-op and a redesigned gameplay structure.

Democracy 4
- Uzzy - Out 6th October

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, democracy simply doesn't work. But just maybe you can make it work in the latest in this classic series from Positech Games. As the Prime Minister or President, you must govern your chosen country as you see fit, testing out your own political theories while appeasing voting groups and trying to keep enough popularity to secure re-election.

EA SPORTS FIFA 21
- Uzzy - Out 9th October

The second best football series is finally on Steam (and Origin of course), with expanded Volta (Street Football) and Ultimate Team modes. Also some legends of the game, like the one true King.

Ghostrunner
- Uzzy - Out 27th October

From One More Level, Ghostrunner is a first person parkour game (think Mirror's Edge) set in a dystopian cyberpunk future. But you're no delivery person this time, you're an assassin, dancing your way through the tower and slicing those who stand between you and the tyrannical Mara the Keymaster. Outnumbered but never outclassed, you must use all your skills in fast paced, one hit one kill combat, dodging bullets and dealing out death.

Hearts of Iron IV: Battle for the Bosporus
- Uzzy - Out 15th October

The latest DLC for the now venerable Hearts of Iron IV (seriously how is it four years old already?), Battle for the Bosporus adds in new historical and ahistorical mission trees for Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey. Will you restore the once glorious empires, stand up for democracy, or embrace more radical solutions to your nations problems?

Ikenfell
- Uzzy - Out 8th October

Developed by Happy Ray Games, Ikenfell is a turn based tactical RPG about a group of troublesome magical students. Use timing mechanics to power your spells and block your enemies attacks, while exploring the depths of a magical school and uncovering dark secrets.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope
- Uzzy - Out 29th October

More cinematic horror from Supermassive Games, the team behind the decidedly underrated Until Dark (frustratingly still a PS4 exclusive), Little Hope is the second in the anthology. Trapped in the eponymous town, four college students and their professor must figure out the motivations of the mysterious apparitions holding them captive before they're all dragged down to hell.

Partisans 1941
- Uzzy - Out 14th October

A real time tactics game, developed by Alter Games, Partisans 1941 sees you take charge of a small group of guerrillas behind enemy lines on the Eastern Front. Gather resources, manage your hidden base and take on the Nazis in a series of diverse missions, utilising stealth and planning to launch devastating ambushes against high value targets, and do your part in the war and help save the Soviet Union.

Raji: An Ancient Epic
- Mentalist - Out 15th October

Isometric Prince of Persia- do I need to say more? All right, then. Play as Raji, a young acrobat whose brother was kidnapped when an ancient demon returned to the world. Enter the world inspired by Hindu myths, and engage in combat inspired by God of War as the chosen champion of Durga and Vishnu. Climb, wall-run and use walls and columns to do special attacks and defeat whatever enemies are thrown your way. And in your downtime, solve mandala puzzles and listen to Vishnu and Durga recount various myths to you as you make your way through the expansive levels. Rated "Recommended" by Eurogamer, the game's demo sold me on the concept, and it should be a fun title exploring a setting we don't really see much in games.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain
- Uzzy - Out 13th October

Directed by Chris Darril and developed by Stormind Games, this is the second in a planned trilogy of psychological survival horror games, inspired by the classic Clock Tower/Haunting Ground games. The secrets in the Ashmann Inn will not be easily uncovered, and you must carefully plan and maneuver your way through the narrow, shadowery passageways, dodging stalkers trapped within the walls just as you are.

RIDE 4
- Uzzy - Out 8th October

The latest in the street bike racing series, RIDE 4 features hundreds of bikes, dynamic weather, a full day/night cycle and improved AI.

ScourgeBringer
- Uzzy - Out of Early Access 21st October

A fast paced roguelike platformer, ScourgeBringer sees you take the role of Kyhra, the deadliest warrior of her clan, launching her attack on the infinite depths of an ever changing dungeon. Reviews suggest platforming controls on par with Celeste, so this should be very interesting.

Space Crew
- Uzzy - Out 15th October

It's Bomber Crew. In Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace. With fricking laser beams and aliens to shoot and black holes and epic space battles. In Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace.

STAR WARS: Squadrons
- Uzzy - Out 1st October

A Star Wars game from EA that I'm actually excited for? 2020 is weird. Squadrons wears it's X-Wing/TIE Fighter lineage on it's sleeve, firmly focusing on dog fighting from the cockpits of iconic Star Wars starfighters. Control all aspects of your starfighter, diverting power to shields, engines or weapons as and when needed, and lead your squadron to victory in a single player campaign showing off both the New Republic and Imperial's finest, as well as in 5 v 5 multiplayer battles. It's even playable entirely in VR. And it's actually reasonably priced for a new AAA game! This could be something seriously special.

Surviving the Aftermath
- Uzzy - Out on Steam Early Access 22nd October

Build a colony of survivors in the post-apocalyptic wilderness, gathering resources, farming, exploring the ruins of civilisation while fighting off bandits and the wilds. Develop your colonies specialists and send them out on missions beyond your colony's gate. Make decisions to shape the morality of your colony, deciding what sort of society to leave for your children.

The Solitaire Conspiracy
- Uzzy - Out 6th October

From Bithell Games, creators of such games as diverse as Thomas Was Alone to John Wick Hex to Quarantine Circular comes the latest of their 'shorts', a cyberpunk solitare game, with suit powers representing one of eight spy groups. It features a campaign mode introducing you to the powers, along with FMV videos delving into the lore, as well as a skirmish mode and countdown mode to really test your skills. The game also features a soundtrack from Jon Everist, the maestro behind the soundtracks for the recent Shadowrun games.

The Uncertain: Light At The End
- Uzzy - Out 8th October

A story driven adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world, now dominated by artificial life, Light At The End from New Game Order sees you in the shoes of Emily, one of the few remaining human survivors in a world overrun. Explore the ruins of humanity while avoiding the ever present robot hunters, solving puzzles while trying to survive and find your kidnapped friends.

Vigil: The Longest Night
- Mentalist - Out 14th October

Metroidvania Bloodborne- do I need to say more? lol. Wel, it's a Gothic side-scrolling RPG that has you play as the last member of the Vigil- an order of demon-hunters who comes back to her hometown to find in in a grip of a plague and a curse. Dodge-roll your way past enemies in a souls-like fashion as you gain EXP, find better weapons and learn various weapon skills- all while talking to NPCs, accepting quests and doing a lot of detective work as you search for clues, cross-reference things in your journal and learn about the strange experiments and a blood-plague that seems to be the origin of the various eldritch monstrosities. Oh, and then once you find and confront a monstrous boss, you unlock new traversal options that let you access additional areas.
I can only speak to what I've played of the game's demo (still on Steam, so check it out!), but based on that, I'm sold. The atmosphere is perfect the monsters are creepy, the mystery and RPG aspects make me want to know more.

Watch Dogs Legion
- Uzzy - Out 29th October

Directed by Clint 'Ludonarrative Dissonance' Hocking, who previously directed such titles as Splinter Cell and the best Far Cry game, Far Cry 2, Watch Dogs Legion is a third person action adventure game that sees you as a member of Dedsec in London, fighting to overthrow the tyrannical police state overseeing the city and living above the law. Entirely fictional setting that. Recruit anyone for your team, unlocking their special or not so special abilities, drink at a pub, engage in hooliganism, drive on the left, don't ride on the tube, steal a policeman's hat, declare your love for West Ham and generally be British.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands
- Uzzy - Out 27th October

Everyone's favourite good girl Sylvanus Windrunner took down the Lich King and ripped a hole straight to hell in the process, causing everyone's levels to be squished and a roguelike dungeon to be unlocked. As well as five new zones.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
- Uzzy

One of the most atmospheric games ever made, Bloodlines is exceptional in just nailing the feel of the World of Darkness, that late 90s goth feeling of leather dusters and tight corsets and millennial angst and apocalyptic fervour. And with the nights drawing in and Version 10.7 of the Unofficial Patch having just been released, there's never been a better time to play it while waiting for Bloodlines 2 to eventually come out. Maybe.

Alien: Isolation
- Uzzy

Happy fun times with your Alien friend. Apparently only 17.8% of players have even finished this delightfully atmospheric romp in space, so sign off if you're one of them. And if not, well get to playing! It's fun for all the family.

I know that's something I could do better myself. That's not to say you can't discuss that reason, of course, you just don't have to everytime someone mentions a game in an unrelated context.

The SteamERA Community was founded on Discord on October 2017, a stranded bunch of SteamGAF who united together and embraced on what we thought was the end of times. However as more people joined we found hope and soon started to formulate and plan for the future. This thread would not be possible without the community we have on Discord and I encourage all of you to join if you have not.

In for Legion, if it runs decently. I just built this PC and I haven't got a great grasp on what runs well and what doesn't.

Kind of a meh month for me. Will keep dipping into my backlog. RDR2 is probably going to take the entire month on its own. I'm not touching Baldur's Gate 3's EA at full price.

Getting Star Wars: Squadrons to play in VR to (once again) satisfy that childhood fantasy of piloting a starfighter.

Excited for Squadrons in VR. Not a lot else though for me.

Don't know if I'll pick up Baldur's Gate 3 to get a taste now, or wait until the full release. That would be my only other purchase.

Very excited for PC 2. Hope I can get a preorder in even though supply will probably be limited due to covid...

Looking forward to Star Wars Squadrons in VR with HOTAS!

Here I've been playing Infra thinking that it's another nice short game I can get through before November, and it keeps going...and going, so I look it up, and it's like a 30-40 hour game?!?! Guess I'll stop pushing and take my time with it then.

I do really like it. It uses the source engine, so it does have a nice Half-Life without combat feel to it, and the locations and architecture is impressive. The settings are large enough to give it a real (lonely) adventure feel.

Anyway, signing off.

Even though I shouldn't, I'm probably going to get Watch Dogs Legion. I likely won't have beaten Nioh in that time, but I don't care.

Honestly, the PC gaming highlight for me this month is going to be AMD revealing their RDNA 2 cards. Not really seeing all that much that interests me in terms of releases, so maybe I'll finally get around to finishing G Gen Cross Rays.

I will probably end up getting Ghostrunner.

Raji and Vigil come out mere days after my birthday, back to back, and I'm sold on those from the demos.

meanwhile, gotta finish Hellpoint and maybe play through Halo: ODST.....

Can't wait for Amnesia!

I'm very interesting in Star Wars too, I'm not sure if my old i7-6700k and 980ti will be able to pull it off in VR, but I'd still be happy to play in pancake mode.

I have no feelings for Ocotber......

On another note, I slightly under volted my GPU last night. That's most pc hardware tinkering I've done in a long time. It sucks that doing it is so cumbersome and dangerous (on a Nvidia gpu at least) because it's quite effective.

This is reminding me I never finished Alien: Isolation on the PS4 maybe I'll buy on PC when it goes on sale to rectify that (probably not this month have enough in the backlog as is).

Only new game for sure this month for me is Star Wars: Squadrons (and Crash 4, but sadly no PC version since Activision is silly). Probably going to use rest of month to continue playing Hades and I just bought Dark Souls for the 4th time. Maybe I'll finish it this time!

I forgot all about Watch Dogs this month. And I could have sworn that Crash 4 and GI Joe were coming too, but I guess not.

Transformers Battlegrounds might actually be good though. We'll see. It's on my watch list.

Intrigued about SW squadrons but I've spent so much money on fucking video games lately that I should stop for a while. I've Cyberpunk pre ordered so I should be fine, though the crunch news (even if we all know it happens everywhere all the time) made me a bit less excited about the game.

I watched a youtuber playing Squadrons and I can't believe I'm still weak for those ship sound effects. I mean the tie fighter noise, how can you not?

Should I finally do my Malkavian playthrough of Bloodlines? I'm dreading some of the lousy stages like the sewers, but maybe I'll just play with modded stats and power through.

After the Forza Horizon 3 delisting, I reinstalled the game and broke out my wheel.

Since I have a newer PC than back in 2016, it's wild to experience the game at >100fps with seemingly improved patching I missed out on. I recall how jerky it handled in that launch phase when getting a smooth 60 was tough until hotfixing.

Oh and the game is still incredible! Just started Hot wheels expansion and whee!
