The gas station I usually go to is $2.19/gal for regular, but there's a bunch around me (Massachusetts) less than $2/gallon. BJs and Costco are like $1.50ish but I'm sure that's just members only pricing, which I'm not a member of either.
Still, $2.19 is damn cheap, and I haven't seen gas prices break $2 since back during the recession and economic collapse. I remember in 2007, gas prices spiked at like $4.60 or something around me, and then I started dating this girl who lived like 45mins away and I was pissed because gas was ridiculous, but the economy fell out while we were dating and I remember filling up in New Hampshire for $1.69/gallon once. This was also back around when Newt Gingrich was arguing that he was going to put a price ceiling on gas of $2.50/gallon, and that was like his big presidential issue ... and then the economy collapsed, as did his presidency. Which goes to show, don't run a presidential campaign based on commodity prices.
Now to show how old I am, back when I got my license, gas was $0.92/gallon. I remember when it first broke $1/gallon and I was like "Fuck man, these oil cartels are squeezing us!"
