In the 80s and even early 90s, I never saw an Out Run arcade machine, or don't remember seeing one. The first time I played Out Run was the MD/Genesis version, and the first time I played an arcade quality version was when I got Sega Ages Vol 1 for Saturn.
Anyway, I chose After Burner II because it was always my favorite arcade game of all time. The graphics, the music, the speed. This was the late 80s for me.
I grew up near a Navy air base and saw F-14 Tomcats all the time. I watched Top Gun every chance I got and the first CD I ever listened to was the Top Gun soundtrack.
I loved military jets (who didn't back then), so After Burner II was my kind of game and the first SEGA game I ever played.
