I got all 4 up to lvl 7 and I agree that this is a LOT more traditional shooter than something like Space Marine or Doom or something like that. It's not gears where you 100% need to be hiding most of the time but its also easy af to get killed if you're planning to just wade into it.

The skill cycling in this game should be fun. I have 3 grenades up with my Technomancer now which is preeeeeetty broken in these early missions.

Also - the stupid captain that we all farm: I was playing this last weekend and i had one run through killing dude where instead of being dead at the end of dumping a ton of DPS into him he turns into a lil red ball? And then just reappears full of health?
I was interrupting the thing he was charging up (i thought?) but still he managed to do this like 4 times in a row before he finally died. Seriously killed the efficiency of that particular run!

Which is the best and easiest class for solo players ?
I keep reading Trickster is the best and most fun in general.
I would say Trickster in the most instantly fun. The slow bubble makes so many kills feel epic, the teleport behind enemies makes movement feel really fun, and overall, it just does a lot of damage really quickly. It's a good "oh, I'm basically a superhero" intro to the game, where people starting out with Pyromancer or Technomancer might not clue into how powerful they really are as quickly.

Hrmmm. Yeah, I've seen the red ball regeneration thing happen, but when I realized what it was, I was able to interrupt the next time. Maybe he had resistance up on your interrupts? It's definitely a heal ability that captains can have, and they definitely have talked about patching how quickly/how much they heal, so it's also possible it was a one-time glitch based on all the tuning?

I'm not sure why it's taken this long for someone to get a third person shooter loot game right, but for whatever reason, it has. I've been waiting for something like this since Hellgate London and is the third person Diablo I've actually wanted someone to make. It's also the best analogy I have for it, too, especially in terms of builds and the loot game and it all being in one box, etc. Godfall was close, but the armor not being part of the loot means it didn't quite hit it for me. I just want to shoot things and have them explode into loot that eventually makes my character look sweet. And before someone @'s me with Borderlands, that was a first person game. :P

This has been the longest damn month lol, I'm chomping at the bit to get to some new content. Gonna roll with my demo Devastator and pray to the loot gods for some decent shotguns.

You can only pre-load it via the Xbox app not the gamepass app...and it's only working for some people, not all. I've tried to set it downloading a few times but it just won't work. so YMMV.

I had trouble getting it to download, then read someone had got it to work by picking another game to download to eliminate the logjam, which worked for me. I had to do it with the console on though, which may or may not have something to do with the fact I have it set to power saving mode.

I liked the demo, despite some jankiness. Like others have said it's the perfect sort of thing to try on Game Pass.

That i might believe. Once or twice in a fight at the beginning/end would have been ok but it was almost giving me flashbacks to that first Devastator captain on my first two run throughs. The worst is how long it takes for them to bamf back in with full health. that stupid orb just sits there, mocking me, invincible for like 30 fuckin seconds. Meanwhile I'm trying my damndest to NOT kill everyone else on the field.

Ready for heavy waves of bad guys already. These opening missions are defo gettin old.

I don't know about 30 but I remember the 4k60 claim from the devs and I don't think 4k turned out to be true. Not native at least. Didn't DF do a video?
DF says the demo is 60fps with dips to as low as 45fps in sections, and dynamic resolution, but I'm not sure if the demo is representative of the full game. Just going off what the official marketing materials are saying everywhere that I can find for the full game, but will happily change if it's wrong when the full game is out. Wasn't sure if OTs for games on all consoles just listed the 4k as advertised, even when Digital Foundry had shown dynamic resolution up to 4k, as it's my first real OT here.

It's totally fine tbh. It just stuck with me as i had an interest in knowing because I own a Series S! Don't worry about it. You've done an excellent job here.

Ok good to know that worked for another person. I tried that and it wouldn't work :(

You have to think of this game as like 3rd person Diablo 3. Not like Gears of War. Constantly keep your abilities on cool down.

Been looking forward to this for a while. I wasnt super sold on any of the classes yet. Seemed like everyone in the demo was playing Trickster though lol.

Actually according to the chart they did while Trickster was indeed the most played case, it was only by a few %, overall it was actually pretty close to being evenly distributed.

Trickster is just the more powerful class in the demo. Pyro and techno needs more gear and skills to really show how powerful they are.

I am so stoked for this game, I don't know why but it totally grabbed me - I have been looking for a shooter that is a grindy loot game that ISN"T doing what D2/Div2/Warframe are doing, and then this thing came out of nowhere with cool abilities, aggressive fast paced gameplay, lots of loot grinding and builds and totally sucked me in over the demo. Will be maining trickster and am super excited to get into this one from Day 1 and hopefully really be a part of the initial excitement and build experimenting and all that good stuff.

PC player here though - free on gamepass was tempting, but game controls so much better on PC. Looking for other PC people to play with at endgame, so don't be shy!

So if I played the demo on ps5, can I carry my progression over if I get it on Xbox series x game pass?
No, but I'll say this-unless you farmed a ton of legendaries, you could speedrun back to where you were in like 1.5-2 hours. I pkayed every class in the demo and subsequent runs are so much faster once you get the loop. Also, what we farmed in the demo is going to quickly be outclassed in the real game (purples > blues and outside of Legendaries, you'll be able to fill yr mod library naturally, quickly).

PC gamepass would have guaranteed I play this but maybe down the road when it's on sale or something. Powers are pretty cool, trickster bubble and sword, devastator bullet shield/reflect were my favorite bits from the demo. Can't say there was really anything else to catch my eye in terms of story, enemies, or gunplay.

I know next to nothing about this game, after reading this I've become very interested in this.

So do you think someone would be able to enjoy this game in single player or is there enough content worthwhile without needing to go online and do multiplayer?

To be fair to the enemy variety, the demo is a small fraction of the enemies you will fight. There is many non-humanoid enemies to fight too.

Enemies aren't make or break for me, I play Avengers FFS. I'll take another look when the game is out, it just didn't grab me in the few hours I played across those classes.

The whole game is fully soloable (I got up to level 17/world tier 9 in the beta), though we haven't seen how tough the Expeditions will be solo yet. That said, crossplay and matchmaking, and because there's no PVP, you should be able to join up with anyone, even strangers, for fun mayhem.

You should really do all classes. Its very easy also and if you have one character you can skip the prologue stuff with every other character and go straight in the game with powers and unlocking things with the new character.

They really should allow skipping leveling once you have one character at max level and completed campaign.

I'll play it down the line but right now, I'll wait for the reviews.
I have this weird feeling the game will be ok to good but not amazing and with a ton of flaws.

If they fixed the performance, the awful cover system etc, I will give this another shot. Demo was a little messy and kinda put me off but Game Pass means I will give it a fair shake.

They're working on the cover system, but you also shouldn't rely on it heavily even after. A lot of classes are meant to be played super aggressively and a lot of encounters (seemingly) with non-human enemies don't have little to no cover.

I agree - i was lucky and someone gave me a powerful set of witch doctor gear in Diablo 3 and blasting through rifts was 100% ability management. Playing this, and watching a couple of build videos it's clear that this game has a similar focus. That said there are one or two builds which seem very shooting focussed and some that are very ability focussed so a good mix and choice for people.

Will be interesting to see people try "gun only" or "no gun" runs to see if they are hard.
