this is on Bernie

this could have ended last week

but Bernie being stubborn is putting people's lives at risk when the page could have been turned towards the general
Yeah it's totally Bernie's fault that those in charge of elections aren't doing more to make the elections safe. Mail in voting is an easy solution to this problem.

Or maybe Biden and Bernie can work together on a compromise that would involve Bernie dropping out early in exchange for Biden adopting M4A. That would be a really inspiring display of unity that I think would ensure Democrats win the GE. Biden loves to bring up how important it is to compromise with his Republican buddies, maybe he should try compromising with people who might actually help him pass an agenda.

Adopting the option that

a) polls worse
b) won't happen anyway

Would be incredibly dumb on Biden's part.

Bernie drop out plz.
This is an actual fucking emergency.
In any other country a party would coalesce around one candidate.
They already have... In order to stop Bernie. lol

Gotta say... These smug Biden supporters that have come out of the woodwork here are irritating. Got no problem with Bernie staying in the race while there's any sliver of hope. Ousting Trump is priority #1, but M4A and/or a big move to the left in general is next in line. Not giving up on that so easy. This shit is too important.

Corona's going to hit us even harder than it should because the 'return to normal' that led us here is simply not good enough.

Ohio has to activate their emergency notification system for mobile phones for this. Given the back and forth and late nature of this, people will show up expecting to be able to vote.

Blast that message out at like 6 AM tomorrow to minimize that. It would be the smart thing to do and a legit use of the service given the emergency situation.

Yeah because polls have anything to do with congress passing legislation. Polls don't really matter beyond whether or not a majority of voters support a particular piece of legislation. It doesn't really matter how popular anything is if Biden can't get Sanders supporters to turn out and vote him, they will be needed if he has any hope of taking back the Senate.

The whole point of compromise is to make a deal that is mutually beneficial. A majority of democrats want Biden to be the nominee because they think he will beat Trump, and a minority of Democrats want Bernie to be the nominee because they want to see his proposals enacted (keystone proposal being M4A). Unity is when both parties agree to something they don't want in exchange for something they do want. Biden and his supporters get the support from Sanders supporters that they need to beat Trump and potentially take back congress in exchange for adopting Sanders M4A proposal, and Sanders supporters get an assurance from Biden that he will add M4A to his platform in exchange for conceding the nomination.

And the ridiculous thing is that for a number of Biden supporters, they wouldn't even be conceding on M4A as exit polls have shown quite a bit of support for M4A.

And guess what? If it won't happen anyway, then Biden will have lost nothing all while unifying the party and potentially taking back the senate.

But you're right, fuck the progressives and their pie-in-the-sky healthcare proposals, we don't need them anyways.

This deal is not mutually beneficial. It would serve to make Biden's campaign weaker in the general election while serving only to be useful as a symbolic victory for lefties. The exit polls showing 60% support are among Democrats only.

Ignoring people who only care about symbolic stances and not about actually accomplishing anything is generally a good thing, yes.

Because online voting is just begging for people to exploit it, hack it, and fuck over democracy. Voting should never be done on machines full stop. Especially so when it's connected to the internet.
Well couldn't it be done in such a way that it's incredibly difficult to do? I'm not too te h savvy, but isn't that the appeal of bitcoin? It's currency, not a vote, but can't security be handled similarly?

How would it make Biden's campaign weaker? The people who already support him do so because their primary concern is with beating Trump, it's not like they would stop supporting him because he adopts M4A. And how would it be a symbolic victory for lefties?

But hey, let's try really hard to win over independents and swing voters. It worked so well for Hillary last time!

Robby Mook's strategy didn't work out in 2016 and suddenly, magically worked in 2018. + Trump President - Hilary on Ballot seemed to have a lot to do with that!

This situation is setting up an interesting legal precedence going forward.

Even if Bernie dropped out, there are a lot of different elections on the battle. People vote for more than just the presidency.

What a fiasco. There will probably be massive lines and polling place shortages, meaning people won't get to vote and also a ton of people have the potential to get infected.

Well this is interesting. I expect more states to do this moving forward. Probably good for Bernie even if the result is just him riding it out to the convention. It's healthy for the Democratic Party to have a lively dialogue, maybe force Biden to the left though I doubt it.

Man if you're going to have the primary ban in person show ups and use mail in ballot and extend the deadline. Don't kill vulnerable people by making them go out with a known pandemic. This is a real shitty look.

Agreed. A lot of people on here don't seem to actually care about leftist policies being implemented or promoted.

It's depressing how many people are content with simply beating republicans. More so referring to dems at large rather than folks on here. Really hope this pandemic gets people to wake up and start paying attention.
