This is possibly the best post that I've ever seen on an internet forum. That went deep.
I know it won't happen but I hope alpha protocol 2 is magically announcedThis is possibly the best post that I've ever seen on an internet forum. That went deep.
Turn-based, isometric RPGs are prototypical examples of the genre. It's fine if they aren't your cup of tea, but it doesn't change what they are. That's like someone saying they don't like DOOM, therefore it isn't a FPS.I guess it's another way of saying I don't like them and they're not RPGs to me. I wasn't redefining the meaning of it.
Awesome. I hope they're not squandering all that budget on a niche isometric/top-down 'RPG' that only a few people care about. Or worse, a turn-based RPG.
I also hope its not an isometric rpg. I enjoy them, and have played them back since neverwinter and baldurs gate, but if you dont do anything interesting with the combat like divinity combat is always a slog. I doubt it with it being bigger budget, but im definitely excited.
I never play as a psychopath, but I love when devs put the option in their games. Alpha Protocol was fucking amazing.I know without Chris Avellone it wouldn't be the same, but I kinda want a high-budget Alpha Protocol kind of game.
It is humorous!
true but their are so very few isometrics with what I would call good and not repetitive.tbf, boring, nonvaried combat can quickly make any combat-focused game a slog, regardless of perspective.
part of why Fallout used to allow a person to shoot mobs in the dick or eye :D

It's Obsidian, so I'm in. I do hope that it will be something that is not a CRPG tho. Not dissing Pillars of Eternity or Tyranny, just want something different from them. Something like Alpha Protocol 2 would be nice.
I'm really surprised that nobody has tried to do that type of Spy RPG since then.I love Alpha Protocol, I enjoyed that game thoroughly and it's sad that we won't ever get to see a sequel come out.
This obsidian? The one with a 4.1/5 glassdoor score?I don't support companies like Obsidian that treat employees like crap, hide behind "contractors" titles and "at-will" employment to justify shady business practices, lie to employees then blindside them with stuff they assured wouldn't happen, "let go" of pregnant employees who just came back, "let go" of contractors who higher ups harass who went to HR, "let go" of employees who filed Workers Comp claims, and more.

Wait, what?!
This dialogue is everything I want out of a 2018 RPG, and here it is - almost a decade ago.
I never did play Alpha Protocol because the gameplay itself was supposed to be terrible. Is the game overall as rough as people say?

You... uh... might wanna provide receipts.
lol there's one of these types for every game company I guess.
.
One of what? Someone who wants to make others aware of the terrible things a company has done? I said I don't support companies like that, didn't say everyone had to agree.
::eyeroll::Someone who's outraged over something. You can find someone like that with every gaming company, trying to spread the word and get others outraged.

I find complaints about the gameplay to be exaggerated. The main thing is that aiming and ability to hit from further away is based on stats, so don't expect to hit anything unless you have stats put into it even if manually, it looks like you should hit them.Wait, what?!

::eyeroll::If you want anyone to take you seriously you'll need to actually, like, describe specific events. As it is you're just another nerd talking shit on the internet. You're not making anyone "aware" of anything posting like this, and your initial post seemed to presuppose that people would already know about... whatever it is you're talking about.
::eyeroll::
I literally described almost everything....learn to comprehend better. The only thing you could say I didn't was how they lied to employees by assuring them layoffs were not going to happen then the layoffs to the AW team happened days later. Everything else is literally spelled out for you and described if you're able to comprehend higher than a 4th grade level. So yeah, not just a nerd talking shit or any other dumb crap you want to say. This is making people aware as it's something people maybe don't know, genius. I never tried to get people to agree with me or incite outrage, just stating facts. GTFO here with your subpar post saying I didn't explain anything when I literally said precisely what they've done, what a joke.
::eyeroll::You made a list of general types of events without describing any actual, specific event in any meaningful or interpretable detail. I will not be responding to your posts on this topic any more.

The point we're trying to get through to you is where is your proof? You can't just say things like that and expect people to believe you, you're a nobody until proven otherwise. I've never seen any of the stuff you said reported anywhere or even hinted at. You need proof to throw these kinds of accusations around.
I hope it's that and not some "comedy" or overly "comic/cartoon"-style stuff.Well, Planescape had a ton of humor. Same with Fallout 2. Arcanum had also a lot of humor. If it's in the same vein as these games, then everything will be allright.

there is a massive gap between arpg and baldurs gate style combat. just because i dont like or want standard baldurs gate style combat doesnt mean i want an arpg. something more strategic would be nice. it was simple, but i enjoyed the lite xcom style of shadowrun. ive never liked baldurs gate style combat its always been tedious for me. ive enjoyed the games despite that. and why complain about people wanting more of the same when you are wanting the same 20 year old combat again. its still more of the same its just your preference of it.Why on Earth would people want a 3D RPG (AGAIN!) from them? Aren't they best known for the better kind of games, like the OG Fallout?
Is this once again because of the console-centric forum? Why you folks want every game to be the same? Fighting is the least important thing in a game like this, and TB or RTwP work the best. You don't need to be actively aggressive all the time, you can chill and pause the game and think your next move. I am so fed up with all the ARPGs, I really want more games like BG, OG Fallout and the modern counterparts.
New Vegas is still their best game. And some people (like me) prefer the immersion and atmosphere that first or third person perspective provides. I grew up on Fallout 1 and 2, but nowadays would much prefer New Vegas-style 3D game from them rather than another isometric or top down one. It has nothing to do with being PC or console gamer. Why on Earth would people want a 3D RPG (AGAIN!) from them? Aren't they best known for the better kind of games, like the OG Fallout?
