Jesus, this game... I can't, I can't anymore, it's so beautiful and good looking and oozes atmosphere out of every molecular, what happened in 2 years? This is my first time leaving the planet. My whole way to the next planet was completely full of meteorites. It looks so good with the photo tool (just the camera function, no changes)

I may have to jump back into this game. Played 4 hours at launch and never returned. Seems like now is a good time.

And it is a really tiny toxic planet. It almost feels like it's a moon, it's so small with the space directly over my head.

Wow these are phenomenal, trying to decide whether to pick it up now or wait till all the new graphics features are in (clouds and tesselation) before jumping in.

Yeah, genuine. I haven't followed it much, but was curious about picking it up. I was just hoping to find out I guess.

I mean, that's a pretty vague question. I never thought it was that bad, but the constitent updates really got it to a better place. This one seems to knock it far along, but whether you think it's good now depends on what you disliked about it beforehand.

The core gameplay of crafting, exploring, with a dash of combat is still there. It's way nicer than it was in all three aspects, and much deeper in some respects, but that gameplay loop is still, relatively the same. That said, the multiplayer aspect and growth of missions could change that up a lot more now.

Edge - that bird screenshot is fantastic. Should post that in the OT.

Yeah sorry Ironfalcon, not trying to be stand offish, it's just this is the screenshot thread so if you want to go into depth the OT is probably the best place to read about the changes and ask for some impressions.

short version I would have recommended it a year ago in a heartbeat, now even more so. (even at launch TBH, with a handful of asterisks) :)

Liking my starting planet. Sure it's a bit toxic but the terrain is great and it has rings, nice pink sky and those clouds!

Ships look gorgeous now.

Every planet in this starter system is a uninhabitable dive, like being forced to chose from Basingstoke, Aldsershot or Leeds :)

(no offense meant)

Done with the toxic planet, now I need to build my base, should I go to this Earth like looking planet next?

Is it just me or is the lighting improved? Shadows seem to be less harsh and everything seems to be more evenly lit. Kinda like there's global illumination.

Ah, didn't realise this thread was a thing, guess I'll put my only photo here as well. (PC, second planet)

I'll come back with nicer photos when I find some nicer planets.
