I'm gonna say 75-79. I think the familiarity with the first game will be a pretty big knock against it, especially since the second half of Nioh 1 was already such a slog.

Nioh 2 - Review Thread (86 Metacritic | 87 Opencritic)

The first Nioh got 88/100. Not expecting this one to review worse since I'm confident it will be a better game overall.
Gonna go with 84.

I'm on board with this. As much as the game feels improved, they're gonna harp on the fact it feels like an incremental sequel and not a complete overhaul.
I think it'll be great. And also probably an 82ish. These next few months will have a lot of competition.
I'm talking about the discussion about it on this site especially when it's Soulsborne related, it's brought up to be shit upon a few times per thread. I don't care about the scores.
It feels better to play than Nioh, but the way games are reviewed these days, they rarely react to the mechanical nature or feel of games. It's all buzzwords and flowery philosophical bullshit. A game could run at 20 fps and you'd be lucky if half the reviews mention it, or spend more than a paragraph on the actual performance and/or mechanics. It being a sequel, to a game already perceived as aping another design structure... I'm not expecting it to review better than the first, just on principle. But Nioh 2 plays really well, and has many QoL improvements, and who knows maybe the reviewers are in a good mood during a bit of a soulslike drought... a good action game can be a wildcard. Idk, wouldn't be shocked if it did better than I'm expecting. Basically I have no idea.
Predicting review scores is only partially related to the actual quality of the game. As much thought goes into the quality of the reviewers.
it isn't? from what i recall, a 80-85 is a game that is not stellar, but not bad at all, so i guess "ok" fits it, sorry, i was not trying to offend the game by that
An AAA game getting an 80 is clearly just okay. Dunno if Nioh is AAA, but this isn't a new concept
