It's like a 3DS without 3D never existed, right???But, but resetera told me launching a Switch that cannot actually switch was impossible!

I understand that sentiment but honestly, is there ever a time where you spend more than 4 hours straight playing on a handheld?
Well, the form factor is correct, but a few small things are off - colours of both the unit and the controls, no bezel around the screen. Could conceivably have been a 'proof of concept' image from Nintendo.
If I can have my digital game licenses on two systems at once, I will buy this day one. Really want a smaller one for handheld. Does anyone know if this is possible?
there are some moons in mario odyssey that required rumble, how will those work now?
I mean, there's zero reason to own this if you already have one.So if you already own a Switch, what's the reason to get this? D-Pad and better battery life?
Hah, well, I'm out. I'd want the thing to get at least close to double the battery if I was going to upgrade.
Umm no, it's not. They will both continue to be sold. When the PS4 Pro released it was not the de facto PS4. When the Xbox One X released it was not the de facto Xbox One.Options? 99% of Switch buyers are going to buy the lite now. That's the Switch now. The original model is done.
That's one of the main reasons the price is great though, you can't have it both ways.
The "switch but doesn't switch" thing is people being contrary and weird for the sake of it.
It's 2019 and the system has been really successful. All "Switch" means at this point is Nintendo's current machine. People are being weird about marketing lingo.
I don't know why you would ever have expectations of liking anything
Those weren't named Switch. Guess the Not-Switch is good for the kids they're targeting. It's a portable device. Did the 3ds have docking capability? The ds? Etc?
i think no rumble at all.
Looks great in concept but I've already expressed my #1 concern: the analog drifting issue.
Whereas with the detachable Joy-cons one could buy replacements on the cheap on Amazon, or ship them back to Nintendo to get them fixed/replaced while keeping the Screen/Console at home, you would now be looking at an unplayable console that drifts and all you can do is take the whole thing apart, potentially damaging the unit, or shipping the whole thing back to Nintendo which has other implications, such as having to get a replacement without your saves, not to mention you wouldn't have a console to play on for a while.
Wouldn't a normal Switch sold without the Dock but still compatible with one cost roughtly the same? That's one of the main reasons the price is great though, you can't have it both ways.
Also they'd have had to have made a new dock since this is smaller which would cost even more money.
That's the hill we're going to die on?
Would be weird of them to announce this and have a comparison page if they're just gonna announce another in a week?
You'd need a controller and a charger, It makes no sense. I always thought they'd keep detachable controllers but without them it makes sense not to have TV mode.Looks cool! I'm really surprised they missed the opportunity to sell the dock separately, which is weird and 100% Nintendo at the same time...
I mean, there's zero reason to own this if you already have one.
i think at this point it's safe to say that nintendo feel comfortable and secure enough in their success to drift almost entirely from the fundamental basis of the name of the switch - ie playing docked or undocked, even sharing.
this will do extremely well, but honestly shouldn't be rewarded. 150 bucks max and it might be worth discussing, but yeah this kinda sucks. i'm glad i didn't wait this out and got my switch a while ago - at the time after all the rumours i thought i might wait for a 1.5 gen refresh, but seems that's a ways off still.
Yeah I wanted to buy one for my brother for his birthday, but I assumed it could still be docked if you bought a specific dock for it.
You know if the enhanced switch is still releasing this year? Was hoping they would be announced at the same timeHey look, it's the best selling console SKU of the next five years.
