Wow thanks! Slowly getting better at this. Ashamed to say I dropped it to easy to get used to the mechanics of the game and glad I did as I am enjoying it a lot more.I have a 4-0 record in Normal runs so far (I know, I should really move up to Hard, but I want the medal for winning with all ten squads first while I'm still trying things out and learning the game), and I have a pretty reliable placement method that I'm happy to share. Remember that enemies always move first when you start the map, so don't bother to plan your placements around your first attack; plan around defence.
- I always check for enemies with the web ability first (Leapers with range 4, Scorpions with range 3). Webbing is automatic when they stand next to you, so make sure the only mechs within range of them either have immunity (like an anti-web pilot), an escape (like a jump/teleport ability), or some way of directly pushing back or disabling the attacker.
- Ranged/artillery should usually go in the back, but in a row where it has room to move side to side and cover as many columns as possible, especially in the early maps when your movement points are low.
- Flying units can start behind buildings, since they can fly right over with no cost to their movement points. I like to keep them near the centre to maximize my coverage of the map, but of course that depends on how tightly packed everything is and where your other two placements are.
- If you are on a map with insta-kill potential like water tiles or certain map-specific mechanics (dam, terraformer, lightning, etc.), think about how to activate those or bait/trap enemies in a position where they can be hit. This is particularly important if you choose the high-threat, three-reward maps that start with an extra Alpha Vek.
- Think about controlling space and coverage of where the first set of enemies are able to go. With the exception of flying/leaping enemies, remember that you can block choke points (or hide one unit directly behind another unit) and limit where they are able to go on the board. The more you limit this, the more control you have over the enemy's range of options on the first move, and the more predictable your first turn will be.
You have to find new pilots while playing! They are often found in time pods or choseable as a reward for completing an island perfectly (failing no objective).I have only had a few runs so far and they have been with the same unit types. How do you unlock more?
Did Pac Man have some issues on Switch, or was it just generally not well received?
There has to be a reason I don't own it yet and I figure it's one of the two above.
Looks like it's about time to buy more pinball, Zen Studios just announced the Williams Collection for Pinball FX3
Looks like Hyper Light Drifter has performance issues. Sucks to hear considering the porting dev said that it was the definitive version and they would have it at 60fps.

Yeah its a sweet port! Lilac's divekicks are so much easier to use with joycons than they are on a keyboard. Also Carol's bike da best!Freedom Planet is great on the Switch, a really nice port from the PC version. Highly recommended.

It says it is an early copy he gor last week and it performs like Desd Cells.
I am not worried. I'll also wait for the actual release in case they've patched something in.
That post is very vague with no proof or the drops.
That thread also mentions a Gamexplain video that says the game has drops...I haven't checked it out though. Whether there's proof or not it's not like it's highly unbelievable that another switch port has performance issues. Also Dead Cells runs terribly at time.
You won't regret it.Bought The Messenger, while the 15% is small but pushed me over the edge.
I haven't had any slowdown on Dead Cells which I have thought is terrible so if it is in line with that I won't mind. That thread also mentions a Gamexplain video that says the game has drops...I haven't checked it out though. I downloaded Hyper Light Drifter yesterday for our review and haven't experienced any issues like OP is stating. So far everything has been silky smooth. Now I am only about two hours in right now but have been through a couple of areas that have large numbers of enemies already.
Not saying OP is wrong, just haven't had the same experience. I'll stay on the lookout though and report back what I find.
The fact that they used the term "silky smooth" to describe the framerate means that it's not a solid 60. I wish that people would say it's a constant 60 or not.
Anyways, guess we'll know in two days.
Why not just look at the captured video that NateDrake posted?
Just found out that a game called The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is releasing next week.
I did a quick search and it seems the reviews have been very positive in other platforms, and it looks right up my alley.
Has someone played it? HotHamBoy I'm looking at you ;)
Forgotton Anne announced for Switch. A beautiful animated adventure.

I'm curious as well. It looks like a good time.Anyone have impressions on NINJIN : Clash of Carrots? Looks like fun
We weren't kidding about it being amazing. Glad more people are enjoying it.Trying to wrap up my OCTO playthrough in Octopath before I begin Dragon Quest XI, but I keep pulled away by Into the Breach.
Damn Into the Breach for being so damn good.
It isn't a locked 60 fps. It does have moments of stutter when things get chaotic but they aren't all that frequent. The video only shows early game. Things get a lot crazier later.
Don't hold your hopes high. I hope I'm wrong and the sales of Into the breach change their opinion but…So they also decide to port 'Faster than Light'. It's criminal that a game as influential as 'FTL' hasn't seen a console release. I think that from all the early indie classics, only 'FTL', 'Super Hexagon' and 'The Stanley Parable' are missing consoles.
We have no official plans for a Switch port at this time. Playing FTL on a gamepad, or on a small touch screen, is not practical.
Thanks, sounds nice. I'll read a few more reviews.I've played it on iOS - it's a very interesting take on the Fighting Fantasy books and due to the different paths you can take, feel there's a lot of replayability. Would say the game is like a solo RPG board game and the combat element is turn-based (where you and the enemies manoeuvre on a grid).
