Oh god no I spent too much money last month but so many games this month look amazing aaaaahhh

Gotta put a list down:

- Anodyne 2
- Fallen Legion: Revenant (isn't this a sequel? I swear I've heard of it before)
- Wrath: Aeon of Ruin
- Kowloon High School Chronicle (this is an old series right?)
- Little Nightmares 2
- Bravely Default II

- Little Nightmares 2
- Bravely Default II

Fallen Legion is the third game of the series. First two are included in Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory. There's a demo if you want to check the gameplay.
Kowloon High School Chronicle is only one title. Like many titles by Atlus for PS2 from that age, it's a mix of first-person dungeon crawlers and visual novel.

Finally, on Feb. 12th, people can finally play the re-release of a beloved classic from a previous generation of consoles, but with all new content, that we've all been waiting for....

GAL GUN, BABY, THE ORIGINAL IS FINALLY COMING TO AMERICA

Curse of the Dead Gods looks like a lot of fun. I just dont think I can do another roguelike anytime soon lol. Wish more straightforward isometric action rpgs would come out. We get tons of side scrollers, but I miss the top down ones, games like Zelda.

There's nothing like the smell of a new monthly eshop thread... Thanks Tolkir!

So, ~2 months before any free time I have is taken over by MHR...

Definite buy:
Bravely Default II

Probable buy:
Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption

Maybe:
Conarium
Re:ZERO - Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne
The Flower Collectors

and some others, depending on impressions.

Just Bravely Default and Mario for me this month. Maybe Romance of the kingdoms, cause that would be so awesome to play on the go. That along with Ys IX will keep me occupied for a while

Mario 3D World, Ghosts & Goblins Resurrection, and Capcom Arcade Stadium (all 3 packs) for me this month!

PSA:

Dunno if mentioned already, but there's a few Hamster's ACA\Neo Geo games on sale.

Among those,

ACA NEO-GEO:
TOP HUNTER Roddy and Cathy

is something that I think every 2D action platformer fan could enjoy. It's platformer/beat 'em up mash up with great graphics, up to 2 players co-op, often overlooked when Neo Geo games are mentioned and it's a shame cause it's also different enough to be a unique game in the platform's library. Btw, check the game's manual (hit + when playing) because there's many cool hidden special moves and they're also different per character.

at 50%off, around three fiddy, you should buy it and show Hamster that discounting different (good)games from the usual 10 same offerings would be rewarded with sales.

Forgot Anodyne 2 is this month. Would heavily encourage anyone into low poly aesthetic and narrative focused games to give it a shot. Has a very Steven Universe vibe to its world and story telling, if that paints a picture for you. One of my favorite gaming experiences of the last few years

Super Mario 3D World & Persona 5 Strikers for me. I'm still waiting for pricing info on Capcom Arcade Stadium as Pack 3 is really tempting for the right price, though I wonder if it'll stay Switch exclusive given the previous attempt, Arcade Cabinet, was multiplatform. Not to mention the all-in-one pack was discounted a ton of times, so maybe I'll just wait for a sale.

I haven't been paying attention to Bravely Default so didn't even realize it was coming out so soon. I wasn't going to buy anything this month but if I do that will be the exception. Did people like the demo? Might give it a download.

Really looking at Super Mario 3D World, Persona 5 Strikers, and Haven. Still haven't picked up Ryza from last month either. Not a bad little selection of games for the beginning months of the new year.

As always thank you for making my favorite thread!

Thanks Tolkir. There a lot of games in the OP that I never heard of or forgot about. For instance, Glyph and Tohu look cool. I'm intrigued by the Atelier Ryza series. But the Switch versions of 1 and 2 are hard to come by.

I came near close to buying a few games on sale on my wishlist last month. But then I told myself "They can be cheaper." So I'll wait.

The only thing I bought last month was Captain Toad when Walmart had it erroneously on sale for $4.56 with the DLC. Normally, I don't like getting big games physically if I can avoid it. But that was a steal! It's quite charming and fun.

As for this month, Mario 3D World mildly interests me. I have Amazon credit by way of my credit card points. Every other major title e.g. Bravely Default II looks like wait for a sale. I hope there's a surprise drop or two since Nintendo has been quiet so far.

May depend on the reception for the last two, but my haul will probably look like this:
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
  • Blue Fire
  • Ghosts 'n' Goblins: Resurrections

Looking forward to Kowloon High School Chronicle. I'll also probably grab GnG if the reception is solid, I wasn't sure on the visuals at first but I'm feeling pretty good about the subsequent trailers.

(also getting P5S but on PS4)

Unless we hear otherwise it's probably a safe bet that Capcom Arcade Stadium will release alongside GnG.

Getting Super Mario 3D World for sure. I'm also interested in Ghosts 'n Goblins, but I might wait to see how it reviews before taking the plunge.

Also, I can second the recommendation for Top Hunter; I picked it up (along with KOF '99) a couple days ago and it's great arcade fun. Well worth four bucks.

January was a catch-up month for me, but February is jamming with Mario, Persona 5 Strikers, and Bravely Default II. Those are my "definitely interested" games, and my "probably" list includes Little Nightmares II and Ghosts 'n Goblins. Then there are any other things that are just dropped on us.

Been really enjoying Heaven's Vault—what's top notch adventure game with linguistic flair! It's been crashing on me fairly frequently though, has anyone else been having technical issues? I also have weird graphical glitches now and then when translating.

Thanks tolkir as always for the thread.

Great month - picking up:
Mario 3D World
Little Nightmares 2
P5 Strikers
King of Seas
Republique

and more I'm certain

First three are day1, while LN2 depends from reviews from fan of the first, hopefully the demo is indicative of the whole game as far as loading times go. I was super impressed and that was my main gripe with the first game (loading was awful on every platform, not only Switch).

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
Capcom Arcade vol1/2/3
Ghosts 'n' Goblins: Resurrection
Little Nightmares 2

Is GNG:R getting a physical release down the line (I mean, has it been announced already)?

Does anyone know how Creature in the Well performs?
I'm someone who finished and 100% it in 9ish hours. I noticed no hitches and I'm someone who's usually not a framerate junkie. Unless it's super obvious that the framerate is molasses (it happens a lot on my laptop sadly).I think it's pretty smooth. Then again, I played it entirely in dock mode so I can't say for portable mode. But I'm pretty sure it's pretty solid regardless.

I would recommend it since it doesn't overstay its welcome. I just wish there was more to the world and cooler things outside of cosmetic stuff. And I found a few annoying, borderline frustrating bits.

I feel like an idiot, I saw wrath aeon of ruin on the list and thought it was getting out of early access since it was being released on the switch. Didnt know nintendo allowed early access games on the eshop.

Is it 60fps?

I'm not sure; I have a hard time telling 60 fps from 30fps, other than it "feels" fast. 🤷‍♂️ A quick Google search on the game's framerate pulls up reviews. I just know it performs well. Maybe someone else who's played it can speak better to it.
It's not that I wouldn't buy the game, I'd just rather buy it on pc if it's 30 on switch.

Really trying this year to not buy new games when I've got 7-8 real meaty games I haven't even started yet.

Let's see how I go.

Great thread as always!

Probably just 3D World for me this month, though if Blue Fire gets good reception I'll consider that too.

Keeping an eye on:
Ghosts n Goblins
Kowloon High-School
Romance of the Three Kingdoms (always been curious but never actually tried it)

That said, I'm still working on my backlog and March has both monHun and maybe A-Train which is highly promising.

Thanks Tolkir!
It's going to be Mario and Persona for me this month. Next month is going to be all about Monster Hunter!
