Weiss being implemented into the logo looks really nice. Would love to see Pod 042 be implemented in a similar way.

Officially it's a "version up" which I interpret as "remaster with some new content."
The western version flopped because papa was old and ugly, Square knows what's up.
Let's hope the reversible box art is more like DQXI with ratings etc and less like the one for NieR Automata.
Still, I don't think Switch should have an issue on the technical side if that's what you're talking about.
This is Square Enix though, they have a good relationship with them I would have thought.

Brother Nier is ugly too. Both of them are designed to look like idiots.
Gestalt Nier was cool in the fact that it was an old dude in a JRPG, but that's like literally the only thing it had going for it. Hate his design.
I'm relatively convinced the reason we got Automata at all and the rise of Taro Yoko is due to thedarkid's LPs of NieR and Drakengard.
Some Nier fans have a hate boner for protagonist that don't look like a sack of melted potatoes.
Would be there Day 1...but apparently it'll have to be Day 2. Shame there isn't a next gen version but I think the improvements will make it feel that way anyways.
Edit: I know this is blasphemy, but I hope the added dialog includes English voice actors as well. They did such a great job on Nier Gestalt.

Okay phew. The rundown nature of the world is still perfectly intact.
Gen 7 HD graphics are kind of ass nowadays, but NieR always looked like ass so it's aged really gracefully.
There were two releases of the original Nier. One of them had a more Japanese-friendly, I guess, protagonist who was the brother to a key character where as the other had an older protagonist who was the father to that character that was released in the west. A lot of people liked Papa Neir, as its often referred to, over brother Neir. The story does change somewhat too depending on what version you play due to certain contexts and relationships being obviously different, though the overall plot is still the same.
It's inconsistent with Square. They've given them some old ports and remasters and a few original Switch-centric games, but they pretty much vetoed porting over a lot of other titles that makes sense for the platform, namely the Kingdom Heart and Life is Strange titles.
So, question.

Just picked up Nier Automata since it's on sale on Steam right now. I'll probably pick this up when it drops as well, probably on Steam, as long as the PC port is solid (I'm hoping they right this wrong with the new release). I enjoyed the original, though I didn't end up finishing it before I got rid of my PS3.
There's a timeskip, the character he is playing is the older version of Brother Nier.
Why is the male character almost completely covered and the female character wearing a damn nightgown?
