Did we ever find out what position the Bleeding Edge leaker has?

I'm saying this, because he has very extensive and detailed information on XBox, but very little on PS5.
His leaks on the subject might have been just internal guesstimates of what Sony might be doing, rather than solid info.

The only date Sony could possibly release an 8TF 12Gb PS5 would be on April 1st 2020. And since we know it isn't coming out until after this date it isn't likely.

I see we've come to a point below expectations. 8TF would be sad.

With the Xbox One X at 6 that would be poo.

That leak sounds pretty realistic, the only one he mentions with ray tracing is Forza & i always thought next gen ray tracing will be limited to stuff like reflections in racing games & not something like GI in Metro Exodus due to likely no HW accelerated RT, you would think a leaker would go a bit overboard & mention Halo will have RT or something.
$399 PS5 could happen too with those specs, Navi Lite being 8 TFLOPS & only 12GB's of GDDR6, sounds reasonable for that price.

A 12 GB of RAM and 9TF in 2020 seems extremely pessimistic more than realistic if I can say. I understand all the chats about the faster streaming access but 12 GB of RAM ? RAM is always important and it's never enough in terms of future perspective.

12Gb of Ram in 2020 is not realist for a 400$ console.

Consoles have historically always had low amounts of RAM & GDDR6 is expensive, honestly i think people have gone a little overboard recently, people are expecting PS5 be a Super 2080 Ti with over 20 gigs of RAM with a 20GB per second SSD, all for 500 bucks, cmon.

The leaked Console even at $399 is gonna take over a $100 loss per console for Sony i bet, it's still stupidly good for $399, $100 cheaper than the X currently is for a massive upgrade.

A 16 GB as minimum. And 10 TF. Anyway I doubt 399 will be possible in any case.

I think I can swallow a 4TF Lockhart if it is 4.8 or 4.9TF Navi. Should be equivalent to the One X then.

There is no way in Hell PS5 will only have 12GB of RAM so that invalidates the entire spec. Funny how people choose the leaks they want to believe. Not even worth getting concerned about.

You kidding right what there would make Sony lose $100.
These consoles are not coming out until 2020 .

There's no way they know the specs AND price for both console makers. It's frustrating when legit info is mixed with guesswork or differently sourced stuff because we have to take each element as independent.

On its face, it looks like someone with inside Xbox info that is engaging in system wars by floating fake PS5 info.

8 Core Zen 2, likely cut down Navi 5700, SSD with custom tech, expensive 16gb's GDDR6. for $399 there will be a loss.
PS4 got away with $399 because they used a HDD from 1990's (lol 5200 rpm with 16mb cache) & 2 low end laptop CPU's glued together, they also opted for a mid range AMD GPU, GDDR5 was also cheap by that point too, AMD was using it since 2009 in PC GPU's.

8tf would be dissapointing but with knowledge that 1800mhz navi 10 gives 9.2 tf and I doubt we see 1800mhz on consoles it is realistic.

This is exactly what this and so far most of the Xbox "leaks" have looked like. In contrast the PS5 "leaks" seem to concentrate only on PS5 hw not a mix of all next-gen tech

Yeah, that's about the only way it makes sense in the grand order of things. With a Zen 2 and an NVME SSD this console would be an absolute value under $400. I'm sort of hoping MS reverses course and just offers one console though. Maybe it was all a smokescreen. We'll see.

I hope either MS or Sony will have a console out in time for the cyberpunk launch. I want to play that with the best fidelity possible.

or it was real info at the time.

i mean Phil seemed pretty confident about having the most powerful next gen console last year. this was around the same time rumors indicated a 2019 PS4 launch. this particular rumor is obviously sourced from MS insiders who likely knew the PS5 tflops count at the time. things have clearly changed since.

That leak came out after the wired article for next-gen PlayStation right? Makes no sense that the guy wouldn't know if it had BC or not since it was confirmed by Cerny.

Isn't the most likely scenario regarding that leak that they had solid/real info on Bleeding Edge and padded that out with everything else for the giggles?

So the minimal specs that we can get are:

8 core Zen above 2.5 ghz
12gb gddr6
8TF GPU
SSD

It's still a pretty respectable device if developers choose to run games between 1080p and 4k resolution.

I'm curious how much money you think Lockhart is going to lose then. Same RAM configuration, same SSD capacity, same CPU, ray tracing and AI (whatever this means), and a cut down GPU for $150 less than this supposed PS5.

"commitment to set the benchmark for console gaming." that's what he said.

And there's some on here that are sharpening their knives and getting the noose ready at even the slightest suggestion that it might not be the most powerful console.

I admire the dedication and resilience to bring it up at every single opportunity in a strange way.
IMO they already have set the benchmark. With Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere, and soon to be released, xCloud. The benchmark is set for next gen.

Even earlier than that, I remember some people speculating it could be unveiled at that Xbox event around November last year. Nt's second title is the one that's an unknown (though I think that's a fair while off yet)

Microsoft can take massive losses & that was always going to be the case anyway, we were mostly expecting Anaconda to be stronger than PS5 & still at $500.

MS is not taking such a huge lost .
If we go by what you saying that would be over $150 easy lost on lockhart .
Which is not happening , Sony or MS won't be losing that kind of money .
