It's amazing to me, if the news talks about white supremacy, how many people feel personally attacked. This is a local news station that spoke with spokespeople for Giffords, a gun control advocacy group, including a former rep born in Ecuador who talks about white supremacy. People feel personally attacked:

And the comments on the Facebook post 🙄

"You have no basis to call it white supremacist. In fact, the latest news is he was Democrat supremist. Snn sucks and is fake news."

This is far from the first time I've seen this, but the Buffalo shooter (who I'm not calling by name) and his manifesto are so sick and racist and twisted that it's still stunning how many people are picking this hill to die on and expose themselves.

EDIT: Fixed the Facebook link.

Why the defensiveness?

It's funny they assume people are taking about them.

It makes their "team" look bad so they have to deny someone their"team" did this, for now at least.

You'll find these people under any tweet like this or about minority issues.

Also don't know where she's getting the idea that it's a "Democrat supremacist" (wtf is that?), but it's telling to me that she substituted white with Democrat as the opposite.
I've recently had people try to claim that the shooter supposedly self-identified as democrat/liberal in his manifesto. Not sure if it's true, as I haven't read it, but it's a talking point being latched onto and passed around to try and shift blame or muddy the waters as to the killers politics and motive.

Of course they are. January 6th insurrection? Simultaneously and contradictorily were ANTIFA/FBI agents and not a big deal. White supremacy? Gotta be a Dem, or it was just a one-off.

I mean, even if you view the guy as a "one-off crazy", that really doesn't change the white supremacy angle of it that much...

Just a group of coincidentally white male one-off crazies, committing abhorrent violent crimes, coincidentally against minorities. It's all coincidental. A big, constantly repeating, never-changing, continuous coincidence.

pay the commenters no mind. I assume they're running interference to cloud the issue with lies or confusion or they're too dumb to be able to.

it's not even the news they're denying but history and the events in front of their faces, they've been doing it for years, so it's time to just move past them.

It is about them though, in a way that i think is fairly transparent and these people creating these tweets know it too. Even taking a careful approach, i think it's fairly clear that these are the people we are talking about when we talk about the persistence of white supremacy. On the one hand, they are perpetuating it, supporting the narrative that it does not exist or devaluing any formal look at it. On the other, they are most likely white and "anti-woke" and the very people who in their quotidian lives perpetuate white supremacy. And many many other ways. Which is to say, i think it's fair to say that we know why they're being defensive and it's not because they're witless bumpkins. They know who white supremacy is and they know it's them.

You'll do yourself a world of good to ignore the comments on stories like these on social media. It's a cesspool of the worst qualities of humanity.

Also a good possibility that a lot of them are bots and/trolls too.

These people either think we are stupid or are so into role playing they don't realize how fucking out there they are to glaze over the video, manifesto, and shooters own intent.

Please start talking to your families if you white because this is not going to be getting any better the more they dig their heels.

Hahaha, no, but as I said in my OP, while it's not the first time I've ever read this, the shooter and his manifesto are so cut and dry that it bothers me that someone (at least on FB for this example) would say there's "no basis" to say that.
That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did... You deserved it.

Literally the first thing my white coworker tells me.

"He says he is Democrat right there, how did no one read. The news won't tell you that."

I immediately stopped talking to him and walked away.

Online in the foxnews comment section, the comments with 1000's of likes was the ones blaming Critical Race Theory being taught being schools is what caused it…

I yell at people on FB and Twitter too much, but it is cathartic.

I feel you. I feel like I shouldn't, but then sometimes it feels soooooo good.

That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did... You deserved it.

I always appreciate this quote because when you run down that rabbit hole, you're saying, "It happened and you deserved it," which is scary.

The truth does not matter. They create their own truth as they are unable to trust the media outside of the conservative media bubble.

These types are beyond tiring. Their entire shtick is so banal - if you've battled in the comments section with one of them you've basically battled with every single one of them. They're all the same predictable, soulless, troglodyte dreg. A bunch of NPCs with their intelligence levels turned down to 10% capacity. They just trot out the same old uninteresting spin that they have been for the past 15 years.

You can ask him if he also actually believed that the nazis were National Socialists.

I live in a giant bucket.
The whole "shooter claims he's a leftist" thing was such an obvious out for any and all conservatives to plead plausible deniability -- every last talking point he spewed were far-right talking points.

Not really sure how 'white supremacist mass-murderer with access to an insane amount of weaponry' can be described as a 'one-off' in the US. It's almost like there's at least two huge societal problems connecting them all.

From watching Memeoligy101 (Man that dude's channel went on a downward spiral) they also tried blame the abduction of the Michigan governor on us liberals too.

Also it's fucking facebook, the edge of the world full of Karens, Darens (Male karens), religious fanatics, abusive parents, the inbred and all the other unholy abominations of the world, so why do we expect better from facebook and it's users.

I mean they are basically brainwashed mind slaves that forgot to know better than to let somebody manipulate them, that explains their souless, basic, NPC like personality. They were technically programmed by the conservative extremists, like AI's.
