Nah, the art style is FAR worse than the music. The art style for NSMBU is tolerable but the music is really bland. That's actually my bigger gripe with the NSMB series.
Slow the phone...pokemon lets go doesn't support the pro controller?!?!
the art style is sterile and unimaginative, but is at least clean and inoffensive. the music actively grates on you and the same few themes are repeated ad nauseam, even in environments where the graphics change to be somewhat more interesting (like the van gogh level just using the exact same boo house music you've heard in the last 3 games)
Even that doesn't make sense, since there's nothing you're required to do with the Joy-Con that can't be done with a Pro Controller.Wow, Pokemon doesn't have pro controller support? You may have just killed the last remaining interest I had in the game. :(
I guess it makes sense with the shitty forced motion control bits, but I never really put two-and-two together.
No it would not be overkill for more. Back in the 90s Nintendo released Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES which contained the four NES games. This should have been New Super Mario All Stars and contained the four NSMB games. Why our standards for Nintendo rerelaeses have gone down so much in 25 years I have no idea. While I get that some new content would be nice for the Wii U adopters, this is both the original game and NSLU which is basically a secons game as well. That's a fuckton of new stuff for us who never played the games. Anything else would be overkill imo, and I wouldn't see reason to include any of the NSMB games in this. Maybe a NSMB DS Remake lackage later on, but for now this is fine.
The bolded is flat-out wrong. You can use sticks to aim when throwing pokéballs. That is correct. It is terrible. Hence why I'm not buying it. The game has to be played docked with a Single joy con, and in handheld mode, it forces motion controls via moving the entire system around, since in that mode the Joy con are connected. Sooo, yep. Waiting patiently for that 2019 Pokemon game.
The answer to that is simple. A full blown sequel is in the works. Possibly a 2019 game. 2020 at the latest.3D World is an amazing game, but the one that is truly a head scratcher that it hasn't come out yet on Switch is Super Mario Maker, that game has the potential to reach NSMBWii sales in the correct platform, how the hell is it still stuck in Wii U hell?
Word. If I understand correctly the motion controls cannot be disabled but you don't have to use them. The bolded is flat-out wrong. You can use sticks to aim when throwing pokéballs.
Yeah it make more sense to make a sequel but for some reason I don't believe they re even working on it right now.The answer to that is simple. A full blown sequel is in the works. Possibly a 2019 game. 2020 at the latest.
Give 2019 to NSMBU and release Mario Maker around march 2020.Mario Maker isn't on Switch yet because it would greatly diminish the value of NSMB U Deluxe. This game just needs time to stretch.
They're too close.Give 2019 to NSMBU and release Mario Maker around march 2020.
Keep 3D Odyssey sequel for Q4 2020 (3 years after the first) and a reinvented 2D mario for Q4 2021
Seems like a good schedule.
Also, Masataka Takemoto who directed NSMBU hasn't apparently been credited since NSMB-Luigi U (and a small side credit for New leaf amiibo update).
Even that doesn't make sense, since there's nothing you're required to do with the Joy-Con that can't be done with a Pro Controller.
End of 2020 for mario maker looks "too far" to me. Unless the "mario maker team" (I know they aren't fixed teams) under Oshino is doing a completely different project (mario maker was 2015, the 3DS port released in 2016). I don't think Mario Maker is the kind of game that needs a 4 year dev cycle, especially since the basics are already there.
I think this is more likely:End of 2020 for mario maker looks "too far" to me. Unfortunately, yes. Super Mario Party is single Joy Con only, as is Pokemon Let's Go.
That seems very close to what I said :) I gave Mario Maker a Q1 2020 instead of Q4 2019I think this is more likely:
NSBUD: January 2019
Mario Maker 2: Q4 2019
SMO2: Q4 2020 (I expect 2020 to be another 2017 so BOTW 2, Splatoon 3, MK9 and SMO2)

Well, I'm specifically talking about what we know about Pokémon Let's Go. I don't know enough about how motion controls are used in Super Mario Party to comment on itTell me about it. Made a whole thread about Mario Party when it became clear that it wouldn't support the Pro Controller.
Over 50% in that thread didn't understand my complaint and argued that using motion is enough of a reason to make it Joy Con exclusive because otherwise it might be slightly awkward.
I don't think I can ever get enough Mario games, they are so quick to breeze through. I believe that I could play both a 2d and a 3d Mario game every year without getting bored.
Sales predictions for this Remaster/Port ?
I think around 8million. Not sure if I'm being a bit conservative though.

Maybe. It would sell double though if they added online but Nintendo gonna Nintendo.Sales predictions for this Remaster/Port ?

Wait Mario Party doesn't support the Pro Controller? What the fuck? I was going to buy it Friday so me and my flatmate could play and use it for drinking games but I only have one set of joycons
Wait Mario Party doesn't support the Pro Controller? What the fuck? I was going to buy it Friday so me and my flatmate could play and use it for drinking games but I only have one set of joycons which means it would be worthless to us...lucky I saw your post! Do we know if most of the mini games involve some form of motion? I would much, much, much prefer them to be "Old school" stick and buttons type mini games....if there aren't many of those either I think this game just went from Day One to never.
I believe the game is controlled with a single Joy-Con only, so if you only have one set and are playing with one flatmate, you should still be fine.
Looool that's amazing I've had my switch since day one and used one joycon several times but somehow forgot about that entirely in my annoyance at not being able to use the pro controller. Ok it's BACK ON THE BUY list. (my question about minigames being controllable via stick and buttons still applies).

super mario maker always felt like 'filler' although it was really good filler. my understanding is that it was an internal tool that nintendo and took to make into a full product at retail when the wii u really needed software, when they were looking anywhere internally to help fill out the lineup. it's this kind of process that i feel led to nes remix, captain todd, and the hd zeldas. i really don't see it coming back until late in the switch's life or early for switch 2. i feel like nsmb dx should be the last we see of the nsmb style while they do the next thing, unless we get new super mario bros. all-stars down the line.
Did you see SMM's reception and sales? It's now a mainline Mario, and the reason we are getting just a NSMU Deluxe instead of a sequel.
Super Mario Maker IS Nintendo's 2D Mario title.
Really baffles me why this isn't dropping before the holidays. January? But....but....why? It's not as though they didn't have enough time/resources. Nintendo gonna Nintendo I guess.
I really hope they treat it like a mainline 2D Mario game then, like designing a new art style just for SMM. Looking at the same graphics for another SMM would be pretty boring. The novelty of the 4 styles has worn off for me.

They're trying to avoid the situation they were in this past year, when they didn't have much new for people to buy for the first few months. There were the Bayonetta ports in mid February, then Kirby in mid March, and then Tropical Freeze almost two months later in early May. Labo was in there but that didn't turn out as planned.
This game will easily outsell all of those releases combined, its a good tactical nuke to drop for all of the new Christmas season owners. Pokemon and Smash (plus all of the evergreens) will be more than enough for Christmas sales. This game will keep the momentum moving into the new year, without having to move a huge, actual new game into the first month or two of the year.
I'm sure they're waiting for BotW to stop selling so much before they do WW and TP. I think we'll see WW next year.Still doesn't make sense to me since they have 3D world, Pikmin 3, Twilight Princess HD, 101, woolly world, and Wind Waker to port over as well.
This is my take as well. It was a perfect idea for the Wii U, so it just made sense. I don't think it would even work that great on Switch, but of course it could be done.super mario maker always felt like 'filler' although it was really good filler. my understanding is that it was an internal tool that nintendo and took to make into a full product at retail when the wii u really needed software, when they were looking anywhere internally to help fill out the lineup. it's this kind of process that i feel led to nes remix, captain todd, and the hd zeldas. i really don't see it coming back until late in the switch's life or early for switch 2. i feel like nsmb dx should be the last we see of the nsmb style while they do the next thing, unless we get new super mario bros. all-stars down the line.
That would be so depressive if true. IMO Mario Maker is not even comparable to an entire new 2D Mario game with a new art style and music. I want to see what Nintendo's top talent can do if they're set loose on an entirely new 2D Mario game. Why do people have such low expectations when it comes to the 2D games?Did you see SMM's reception and sales? I disagree completely, but that's ok. I think a new 2D Mario with an exciting new art style could sell massive numbers on the Switch. In short...there is no way to create a 2D Mario game that is better, critically or commercially, than SMM.
Technically incorrectThe bolded is flat-out wrong. You can use sticks to aim when throwing pokéballs.
It's not low expectations...the market does not want a new Mario 2D game more than a 3D one. So they aren't going to use talent from the next 3D Mario and put that into a 2D game, when that 2D game will likely sell the same as NSMBU or SMM.
Also, with SMM...they can add stages all the time, and the content from people that create stages well exceeds what would be in a new game. You guys seem to be stuck on art style and music...do you think the average consumer would notice much difference between whatever 2D Mario you want, and what NSMBU/SMM is?
