Man at least give devs the power to do what they want with the more efficient chip. Let them choose to make the clocks higher for their games.
Guess what, it also costs 2/3 of the new model.
Pay less, have less.
Incredible, isn't int?
Great! At this stage an actual Switch 2 in a few years makes sense, and that is a sweet battery upgrade. This is the actual device that we nicknamed "Switch Pro" that was rumoured, which swaps the chip to Mariko. No other Switch revision has been rumoured.
maybe they got mixed up in translation and said NAND instead of RAM lol
This makes no sense. What does more battery life give someone who only plays docked? As someone who plays exclusively in handheld mode, this is a much better option than the Switch Lite.
we already know what cpu is in this.Time to consider turning my launch switch into an emulation box.
I'll personally not expect any further Switch device until it's time for Switch 2, unless some real credible rumours come up.Great! At this stage an actual Switch 2 in a few years makes sense, and that is a sweet battery upgrade.
So Lite has worse battery life, doesn't actually switch, less powerful, and has an ugly Gold skin.

I guess I see what you mean now.Because I assume this will replace the OG Switch (same price), which means that the Lite now has less battery life than the mainline Switch on the market
Edit: pointless was a bad word choice but I meant that in terms of battery life the Lite's battery is now a con and not a pro
Edit 2: compared to the main model I mean. Overall it's of course a good thing that there's a new Switch model out there with better battery life
They said handheld not docked. This makes no sense. What does more battery life give someone who only plays docked?
Whatever they are selling in these months will be nothing compared to the Holiday numbers. How to make sure nobody is going to buy a Switch this summer :
Announce a cheaper revision for September
Announce an updated version of the regular SKU with better battery for the end of August.
...
Profit!
It's already on their website.
It is not less powerful than the regular Switch in handheld mode.So Lite has worse battery life, doesn't actually switch, less powerful, and has an ugly Gold skin.
K
The difference in features isn't offset by the price. I would buy a lite for 149 tops. I want a switch and i want one for under 200, but I think it isn't worth the asked price at all.
So Lite has worse battery life, doesn't actually switch, less powerful, and has an ugly Gold skin.
K
The Lite is also cleaner looking, has multiple system color options, has less parts, and smaller. I think there is enough differentiation in products and value offering to the point that both variants have clearly defined spots in the marketplace. No idea why people feel this makes the Lite obsolete before it even launches.Guess what, it also costs 2/3 of the new model.
Pay less, have less.
Incredible, isn't int?
What about the Pro model with the spec bump, from the other thread?
Are people really trying to pull the 'early adopters got screwed' nonsense???? It's been over TWO YEARS omfg
Might already be answered, but this thread is growing fast. Is it likely to actually have a bigger battery in, or is this mostly/all because of the other internals being much more efficient?
This squashes them! Are there any rumours of an actual Pro down the line, or have they all been squashed?
no...So I guess Lite and this "New" Switch this year, and potential Switch Pro/XL/Deluxe next year.
No confirmation either way obvs, but I'm on team "this is the Pro". I don't think a newer model is going to exist. Happy to be wrong though! So I guess Lite and this New Switch this year, and potential Switch Pro/XL/Deluxe next year.
I know, but I was under the impression that tweets from NoA were automated and scheduled in advance.
Let's see what the market decides.
My opinion and your opinion are worthless, it's the consumer that will decide if the price is right.
A big fat nothing. You might as well just stick with what you have. This makes no sense. What does more battery life give someone who only plays docked?
No current rumours indicate any further Switch revision, just to make it clear this is just pure speculation. So I guess Lite and this "New" Switch this year, and potential Switch Pro/XL/Deluxe next year.
Yes, they are saving the new Switch to compete with next gen consoles. The improved Switch also might get a new higher clocked profile. So I guess Lite and this "New" Switch this year, and potential Switch Pro/XL/Deluxe next year.
