The microSD card is only for digital games... if you buy physical games, not required. If you do buy only a few digital indie games, the 32GB of intermal memory should be enough. As someone who don't know anything about the Switch and thinking of getting one at Christmas: What do I need the memory cards for? Will 64GB be suffice (I like that Zelda/Triforce symbol)? I'm mostly interested in Switch exclusives like Link's Awakening, BotW, maybe Darkest Dungeon, etc.

The Switch is not like the PS4 and Xbox One in the sense that you have to install the games on the system. On physical games, the Switch reads the game directly from the cartridge (on the PS4/Xbox, the game is read from the internal storage only... the disc is only usable to install the game and acts as an unlock key).
True, but only a few and only third party games (cheap devs that don't want to buy larger cartridges). He said he is mostly interested in first party games.Quite a few switch physical games have mandatory downloads, so you can't totally ignore storage unless you're careful what you buy

Yeah I know, just wondering if anyone got lucky
I'm not talking about competition. That's an American ideal. Nintendo has never been a company that seems to care about what everyone else is doing. They do their own thing and will continue to which makes them unique.A Switch Pro won't even be competitive with a normal PS4 so what's the point in terms of competing with next gen systems? Sure Nintendo might release a more powerful model, but it's not to compete. They have a history of releasing revisions of their handhelds to get people to double dip.
Not really sure why everyone in this thread thinks Nintendo can't make good hardware that sells.
Damn straight. I've been getting non stop replies about how I'm wrong and Nintendo isn't going to make more powerful hardware for the future.
I'd say 64GB is enough, then I realized I buy so much stuff for switch I needed to go to 128, then 256...
You might find out the same thing, but maybe not, 64 should suffice.
Anyone? I'm about to go to GameStop in a few more hours. I'm basically asking for validation on my choice. So, I decided to sell my launch date Switch (don't care about homebrew) and I was wondering... for you the ones that replaced their old Switch, did you get a different color? My original one is gray, and I was wondering if I should get the neon one.
What did you do?

I'm talking about missing out on next gen third party games. Switch already got/getting games like Doom 2, Witcher 3, Outerworlds, Dead by Daylight, Friday the 13th.... They want more games on their platform and if that requires more powerful tech than I'm sure they will make it. Wouldn't be surprised if GTA5, Red Dead 2, Death Stranding and others make their way over eventually.

Had a grey, got a neon when I got the new Switch. I love it.Anyone? I'm about to go to GameStop in a few more hours. I'm basically asking for validation on my choice.

Do they need the original box? I would like to keep it.You need the dock, joycons, switch, joycon dock thing, USB-C power cable, and those little wrist strap things for the joycons to trade in.
You can do it online but only once a year.If you don't deactivate your old system in store I'm not sure if there is a way to do it on the web either.
We got the gray at launch, and went with the multi-colored Neon for our second Switch to spice things up! At the same time, can't you just get a pair of gray Joy-Con if you don't like your decision after the fact? The Joy-Cons are interchangeable anyway. :)
Thank you, guys. Will get the Neon one to spice things up a bit.
No box required.
After trying some tricks, I think I have to admit that my dock may be broken. Black frames randomly appear when playing on the TV. Dammit.
its most likely your HDMI cable, the dock really has almost no internal electronics. Try using a diff HDMI cable. You've never used a third party dock, right? Nintendo doesn't properly do USB-C/HDMI and it is only most obvious when using a third party dock.

Wtf such an eye openingTook my launch model Switch and a couple of older, unwanted games to Gamestop. Cost $27 to upgrade to the newer model...not bad!
LOL, not about to go take out all the boxes, but here's where I keep most of my game cases. I take the games out of the cases I open and keep them in a binder. I use a game collection app to keep track of everything.
Three of the shelves each have three rows of cases:
And then the larger boxes are on my main game shelf unit. Some of them are hidden behind other games, like the Xenoblade 2 CE.
I'm part of a group of Switch enthusiasts on Twitter- some of the people there have 400-500 physical Switch games!
Probably down to the Swedish chemical tax that applies to electronics that increased on August 1st.Just noticed that Swedish stores are charging $31 (300 SEK) more for the new version than the old. Is this the case as well in any other country? I fear that the Swedish Nintendo distributor is getting greedy again (they overpriced the SNES classic by a LOT.)
Yep that happened to me too. Screen would randomly just turn black for a few seconds every few hours, ended up having to get a new one because Nintendo's repair fee was almost the same price as just buying one. After trying some tricks, I think I have to admit that my dock may be broken. What is the update on this? Did you try anything else? After trying some tricks, I think I have to admit that my dock may be broken. Black frames randomly appear when playing on the TV. Dammit.
Thank you guys for recommending me to get the Neon one. It's absolutely beautiful. The cyan color combined with the black body of the Switch looks great.
I would bet strongly that there's a screen lottery. Even on the original Switch model there can be pretty substantial variations between different units' screens. Those kinds of differences are probably just within that margin of variation rather than any deliberate or consistent screen upgrade.
The screen on my new Switch V2 is definitely warmer than my launch edition Switch. It is noticeable immediately after first boot up.Sure it is. Plenty of people have complained about it on this very site. Some screens are slightly warmer, some are slightly cooler. some are slightly more washed out than others, etc. This is pretty common across a lot of consumer electronics.
LOL man that is not a good employee or they really don't care. No wonder they lose money hand over fist. Who would buy a used Switch with joycon drift lol?No idea. They weren't particular about mine - had the original box and all the pieces packed in plastic, and the dude was "chill" as my son calls it. Didn't notice the back was loose, one of the joy cons has minor drift, etc ... Now I have the new unit, and two sets of joy cons that work. Just my experience
Well traditionally a slightly warmer screen is more accurate. Industry standard is D65, akin to a sunny or slightly overcast day, and I cannot for the life of me stand cold displays. Neutral is almost always tilted toward blue as well. The screen on my new Switch V2 is definitely warmer than my launch edition Switch. It is noticeable immediately after first boot up.
Not that I'm complaining; I actually prefer the warmer screen, but that's subjective.
Holy shit at that guy's post. The original Switch screens are fucking 7200K LOL? That's blue as all hell.Im hoping to see some comparisons shortly but the screen lottery is definitely in play here. I have a feeling overall screens will be worse than launch units as Nintendo moved suppliers from where apple gets their screens to cheaper alternatives.
Do you have a link for the Reddit thread?Holy shit at that guy's post. The original Switch screens are fucking 7200K LOL? That's blue as all hell.
The new one is still too blue for the industry standard but definitely still good. I prefer straight up D65 for most stuff on my calibrated TV. 7200 is honestly gross to me. Skin tones start looking like corpses.
Might finally have to look into a Switch here. I really disliked the old screen.
Also, anybody hearing about this burnt network card stuff on new Switches? There is a reddit thread.
The kickstand is definitely different than the one on my launch edition Switch. It's more soft/rubbery, but I don't know if it is new for the Switch V2 or if it was introduced earlier.
