It is. But you won't be able to play together from the very beginning. I believe the first two quest you can only play alone. Don't worry. They're only to get you to get a feel for the basic mechanics and are quite easy.Is Monster Hunter World's multiplayer do-able with 2 people, or do you need to have 4?
I have never played a Monster Hunter game, he has played some of the PSP games.
The main hurdle after that is that you'll both have to watch a cutscene at the beginning of each story quest. And the game won't let you watch it together. You'll both have to start your own mission quest to watch it. After you've both seen the cutscene one of you will have to abandon your quest and join the other. IMO, that's the game's major flaw.
Please note this is only for story quests. Optional quests, investigations, and event quests don't require you to watch a cutscene.
