It's coming to PC, PS4 and SwitchIt was in the Direct. Now to wait for the non-Nintendo branded trailer to see if it's multi-plat.
Yeah, while I love the idea of playing this in HD (the mobile version was always tempting despite no gamepad controls), this feels like a game that would be really hard to go back to after playing the sequel. This is so late
Stories 2 is such an improvement it kinda makes me question if it's even worth going back
Why did Capcom drag their ass on this
Dude, this is Era, people hate playing games that were released last year let alone games released generations ago sadly.Everytime I see people saying stuff like "not worth it because the sequel is better in every way" I scratch my head.
Like, do we not play older games that aren't as good as recent games?
I agree - well, agree they should be harder. Same complaint I have about the Yakuza series (all of them, 8 at the moment is so easy Im going around with no gear lol)This franchise would be amazing if it was remotely challenging. I understand that this is not important to everyone.
Challenge though can make a lot of games better for me. The concepts and gameplay here are good.

Like, do we not play older games that aren't as good as recent games? Do we only play the one best game in each franchise? Because Stories 2 is better, therefore the first one is not worth playing? Oh, Suikoden 2 is better than Suikoden in every way, so don't play that. Really? This was always such a strange way of thinking to me.
I actually have played both games. I agree that the sequel is much better (terrible performance issues aside), but the original game is still a decent game and worth playing if you want more of that world and concept. It really is as simple as that. This is how I know you not familiar with the MH Stories series
The second game is a marked improvement in every way. This game is basically a proof of a concept now since everything is so simplistic in comparison to the sequel. My opinion is not stopping you from buying and purchasing this title.
The point I'm making is that if Capcom was going to make a decision like this, it was better suited years ago when the MH Stories mobile port basically failed.
A re-release has a higher chance of bringing some QoL features from the sequel. This is so late

Disagree. I prefer 1's combo system, element swapping, and grid limits. And its character stories. And its maps. This is how I know you not familiar with the MH Stories series

It's good, but it's also the kind of game where a superior sequel exists that kinda makes it tough to recommend over that one on nearly every facet. They do tell very different stories in the end, though, so if that is a big selling point, then I'd say it's easily worth a look and if for nothing else, them finally localizing all the additional content Japan got geared towards the post-game means we all get the chance to experience something fresh together. How good is it? Always was curious about this JRPG side of MH series.

Going back to a simpler game after playing an improved sequel is not a novel concept at all. Back in the day, I played Yakuza 2 and really enjoyed. Then I went back and played the original for the first time and still enjoyed it, even though the sequel was better in every way. This is just one example of a really common thing to do, which is going back to games that are not as good as their sequels.
And of course your opinion isn't stopping me from buying the game. I'll probably won't buy it in the first place, and was just expressing my befuddlement of what some times is said about going back to inferior games. Not even mentioning people who have the second game on the backlog and now might want to play the original first.

This is a turn-based RPG.

During this trailer, it was revealed that Monster Hunter Stories will be fully voiced this time around, and is also being updated to display in full HD.
Seems to!Does anyone know if this includes Ver. 1.2 and 1.3 content? (especially the post-game towers)
Yep! The web page confirmed it in the best way with a group shot of Kushala, Teostra, and Rajang.Does anyone know if this includes Ver. 1.2 and 1.3 content? (especially the post-game towers)
