We have multiple sources now report there is a victim with visible bruises on her face. Can we please cut out the conspiracy theory bullshit? Those in denial sound like MAGA crazies right now.

He's nothing but a fame seeker and attention whore. Him being a lawyer also doesn't help him here, lawyers have bad enough reputations already. He also made a suspect comment about race a few months back and also tried to raise money for someone (beto I think?) but was also diverting some of the money to his own PAC. He's scum even if this accusation is false.

To be fair, we are talking about a lawyer to a porn star who had an affair with the president which nobody seems to care about. This all just after the government used a fake video to exclude a journalist as they battle with a russian collusion investigation.

So much for the whole, "he's being careful with his words". Given the multiple reports that the woman who accused him had facial injuries, unless she recants, he is done.

This is the LAPD, not some backwater sheriff fiefdom. If the LAPD is going to arrest a white guy with $50K bail, there's probably some circumstantial evidence or probable cause they had beyond some twitter hoax.
Avenatti deserves due process but I'm exercising my public opinion by saying good riddance. He served Stormy Daniels well early on but clearly the fame got to him and started playing the reality show game like Trump with the need to constantly feed his ego instead of just sticking to the facts and serving his clients.
Until further information or details are announced I'm going to assume there's something to the arrest due to the bail amount. I'm not going to start believing conspiracy theories just because Republicans are evil until there's actual evidence of an ulterior plot.

Yeah, considering Stomy Daniels was set up by local police in july and someone was paying women to make false sexual assult alligations against Robert Mueller just last month, I think it would be naive to completely dismiss any foul play. We need some actual evidence that he did something bad, not just people's intuition based his narcissistic tendencies.
I'm almost positive that in California you are brought in and processed on all sexual harassment allegations. No matter the situation. We will just have to wait this out for the details.
The real impact is that regardless of what is actually going on, conservatives believe this now. So that's that.

Also saying that waiting to see more before passing judgement is simply a conspiracy theory is really dumb, especially with all the shady shit that has gone on in the last 6 months.

The sheer amount of people so eager to believe in the conspiracy theory tells me things aren't going "back to normal" in this climate any fucking time soon after trump, even in the optimistic case that the "after trump" times start in '20. A lot of shit is fundamentally broken about and in this country and the people, and it simply isn't all getting fixed with one or two vote days

Believing in something requires evidence, and usually conspiracy theories rely on anomaly hunting and trying to piece together an unlikely narrative with disparate threads.
Considering the attemps to frame Mueller, Stormy being set up, and the GOP vision of the Kavanaugh accusations, I don't think leaving the door open that there might be more to this story can be called a conspiracy theory. I don't think anyone here is saying it's 100% a set up, but as I said it is definitely a non 0 possibility.

This fits perfectly into what they attempted to do with Mueller, turn the Me Too/Believe All Women movement into a catch-22. Either people rightfully doubt situations like this and the alt-right uses it to delegitimize the movement or it people fall for it and a political enemy is eliminated.

Always a chance that these accusations are founded, in wich case I hope for the victim that there is enough evidence to get a conviction. However if this turns out to be another sham, it would be par for the course at this point.

How would somebody get false domestic abuse charges filed? Like, a crime that by definition requires the victim and perpetrator to know each other intimately? Do you think police would just do that without proof of a relationship? (Genuine questions I have no idea how this works)
