This instantly brought my mind to Beast Wars lolI don't know if anyone will get what I mean but there's like, a weird shared visual identity between this, Bionicle, and Soul Reaver that I can only attribute to cartoony early-2000s CGI edge.
Whatever it is I need more of it. The fact that it's intact in this remaster is astonishing to me.
I mean like, do shots not light up a corridor when they travel down it in the original? I may have to fire it up at some point and check. I could have sworn they did.Shots casted lights around (no shadows of course), it looked amazing in the first Prime.
It's amazing how every effect we see here was also in the first Prime in some way.
And finally, the water looks fantastic! About time!

They say resolution is native?
Also didn't noticed the option for full narration, which one is recommended for a first play-trough?
How do you play with an xbox controller?Playing this with an Xbox controller feels great. Stupid mushy DPad on the Pro Controller
From what I can understand:
"None" gives you no narration.
"Partial" only gives you narration for the opening (definitely at least do this).
"Full" gives some suit notifications a voice. Things like "Recorded to your log book" whenever you scan something that's added to the log book and such.
I'd say fairly high. IIRC the initial rumors/leaks about Prime Remaster being just the first game with fully overhauled visuals but perfectly faithful gameplay/design also stated that Prime 2 and 3 were possible if this performed well. Which, with the price point and buzz, seems like a lock. What are the chances we also get the 2nd game Remastered? that's the one I really want to play.
I'll get this when the physical version comes out.

Yup, OST is my one worryAfter this, I feel very confident about Metroid Prime 4. The only thing it needs is Kenji Yamamoto as the composer. OST half of what makes Prime games great for me, and I wouldn't bear a weak OST like Dread's.
I dunno if I'm just dumb, but when I tried playing with a GC controller under the classic control scheme, I couldn't figure out a way to bring the pause screen up. Pressing start would only bring up the map screen.
I've since transitioned to dual stick with the Pro controller, but was I missing something there? lol
"Recorded to Logbook" is on by default across all options. I believe the main difference with "Full" is that when you lose your suit powers in the prologue, the malfunction texts are said out loud by your suit.
There are narrated callouts for loading up each region of the game. "TALLON OVERWORLD", etc.. In Europe it was only when going between the Overworld and Impact Crater. In Japan every area had a callout, but instead of playing when accessing an area from another area, it was only upon loading a save. From what I can understand:

That's been my one issue so far.Man I wish the FOV was wider. I honestly felt a little bit uncomfortable playing this.
Can't say I am a fan of this face. At least it isn't Prime 2's and after lol
It's faithful to the original but I wish they'd bring it more in line with her standardized modern look. Same with the varia suit, I would have preferred prime 2/3's design. Not a big deal tho
Thanks for confirming this is in. Won't be able to dive in until later today and missing the GOAT control scheme was my biggest fear.If you're used to the Wii version definitely try out the pointer controls with split joycon
one is made by MercurySteam, the other by Retro
I assumed this would be something like Halo Anniversary where they bolted stuff on top of the original engine, but this looks really different. They didn't recreate it in Unreal 4 did they? I guess there would be an Epic copyright somewhere or a splash screen.
Looks to me like they either ported the old code over to a new engine, or have a hybrid system running, with the old engine running the old logic, while a new engine handles the visuals.
Still not a fan. Not that the design is bad per se but she's supposed to be in her early twenties at point of the timeline. She looks like she's in her thirties here.
Yes they did. It looks like they still do albeit in a less noticeable way.I mean like, do shots not light up a corridor when they travel down it in the original? I may have to fire it up at some point and check. I could have sworn they did.

I still don't get the Dread art style complaints. Game looked gorgeous in its natural environments imo.
The sterile EMMI rooms were meh, but areas like Ghavoran, Burenia and Hanubia were really cool.
Comparing anything to Prime's art style is unfair though, that much I get.
Huh! That's... slightly unfortunate, I'd rather her not be objectified in any way if possible, plus it just looks kinda dumb. It might be in line with the original design though? Hard to tell since I'm not aware of any promotional renders that showed that part of the design, and the in-game model is low poly enough that it's unclear. There is a line which might be a crease in the concept art though. I do appreciate the desire to subdivide flat surfaces for visual interest, but this is low hanging fruit that they could've just avoided.
It's more of a mini boss but yeah if I had to rank them it'd be at the bottom. Game has some awesome boss fights, don't worry!I'm stuck on the second boss Hive Mecha, really dogshit gamedesign, it killed all my enthusiasm for the game.
I hope it's an exception rather than the norm.

I think that's being ridiculous to be honest, she looks quite fresh faced, strong hair volume and could be in her twenties.Still not a fan. Not that the design is bad per se but she's supposed to be in her early twenties at point of the timeline. She looks like she's in her thirties here.
Actually noticed some when holding a charge beam! Nice to see Retro at least hasn't forgotten it lol
