I've read your review and you sound enthusiastic? What serious flaws are you referring to? Some minor pacing issues? Is that all? I was expecting some major technical bugs or something.
I'm afraid there's absolutely nowhere near 40 hours worth of content here. 25 maybe at an absolute stretch if you were to do literally everything, upgrades etc.
Yeah, I had a really, really bad time with the load screens. They're very bad on PS4.

But they are. Lot's of walking and exploring and stealth sections. That's slow paced in my book.
Is it better with mouse? Although I want to play on my 55" panny plasma :(

GTFO with 40h shooters. If anything, games need to shorten up a bit. High budget games regularly overstay their welcome lately.
Well shit. I don't like the EGS exclusivity and my rig isn't ready for the game anyway, so I thought I'd just go for the PS4 version. 4 minute load times though.. eek!

I love this aspect, reminds me of The Last of Us and it's journey / season changes as the story progresses. I wish more games did this.
According to the reviews, it has multiple graphical bugs, an inconsistent framerate and particularly egregious load times (up to 4 minutes). It also apparently hard crashes often too.

they always did. there are only a few games each year who wouldn't be better if you cut them down to 10h or under.
Long load times, up to 4 minutes sometimes, framerate nose diving during heavy combat scenes, enemies suspended in mid-air, system crash. All mentioned in the Pushsquare review on a Pro.
Yes, it's just like this except each place you stop is a mini-open world. You have things to do in the world but each journey out feels like a linear mission almost. It's an interesting design.

I recall PS2 era and 360 era games having appropriate playtimes on average, but I completely agree current AAA games need some editing.
Mmmg... finding all the collectibles, seeing "everything" (no spoilers here) and completing every trophy could easily bring the total towards 35/40 hours.
Oof. I don't mind whatever metacritic the game has, but these performance issues I'm reading about, even on the Xbox One X...

Going for the Platinum trophy would require two playthroughs, so yeah, 35-40 hours total.
There's no more than 25 hours max of content here for a single playthrough. It's not a big game.

Sounds great and good to hear that going more open has worked well for Metro, mostly anyway.
Really looking forward for my copy to arrive.
PC sounds like what the game was meant to be played on, which is a pleasant surprise. Excited to finally play something on my PC, it's been a while.
Damn those loadtimes on X sound pretty bad. Might wait until the game get some patches. Gamelength sounds good tho!
Visually it's good, but not great. The levels themselves look pretty good (in particular one of the later ones is beautiful), but the texture quality is pretty low and the characters don't look good at all.
Performance can take some dips, especially in the early Moscow level. It evens out once you hit the bigger levels, oddly enough, but still feels like it drops below 30 occasionally.
Also, that's that pair of trophies which REALLY require you to try and retry certain passages in order to find a way to achieve them (not spoiling them...).
