Americans had both the worst name substitution for Mega Drive but also the ugliest SNES model too.
The 16bit years were rough on them.
There was already an American company called MegaDrive Systems so they couldn't use the name.I was baffled wondering who thought these changes were a good idea.
The only people who actively call it the Sega Mega Drive are the same people who likely refer to the original Xbox as the Microsoft DirectXbox, or some nonsense like that.

Gameboy was pretty good.I thought the Genesis sounded worse. MegaDrive is pretty cool in my books, definitely better than anything Nintendo have come up with except maybe the Switch.
