I'm trying to think of a permutation in which Black Flag makes sense, and I'm struggling. Exciting news either way.

If it wasn't listed for PS4 and XBO I'd just assume it was the Ezio collection since that was by Virtuos who of course worked with Ubisoft to bring Starlink to Switch. Not it's not possible Virtuos could be doing this anyway.

Maybe it's 1+3+4? Or maybe 2+3+Rogue since all are already on PS4 and XBO right?

Worth mentioning that they are already remastering 3 for the Odyssey season pass so it may well include that.

Hard to see another remaster/re-release for 2, Brotherhood and Revelations vonsidering this is also coming to PS4 and XBO, but to be fair they'd be great to see on the Switch. Other than that I'd assume this could be games that weren't already available on current-gen consoles, but which ones would those be? Rogue and 3 also got separate remasters. Black Flag was cross-gen all along. The first one is missing, I guess, unless we count Xbox One X's 4K enhancement. The side-scroller spin-offs are already on current-gen consoles and there's already a compilation out there. If it's Origins and Odyssey, how are they going to work on Switch? Cloud again? Or is it some kind of mega pack that contains multiple Assassin's Creed games from different eras and storylines? But even then, making anything from Unity onwards to run on Switch will be challenging.

Interesting, regardless. For sure, with no Assassin's Creed games on the Switch excluding that Japan-only cloud version or other similarly "busy" open world games (eg. GTA, Watch_Dogs, Far Cry, etc.), bringing one or more titles of this series to a new platform definitely makes sense. We'll have to see how this one works out, because if it was a Switch-only release it could be anything basically, but Ubisoft basically re-released every AC game already for the other consoles which makes it harder to guess what a compilation could be.

Do we know what games will it include ? My bet is the first 3 games or something like that.

Or is it a completely new game ?

I bet it's AC3, Liberation, Rogue and/or AC4. They all had PS4 versions/remasters, but aren't included in any collection. And they are all related in terms of plot, much like The Ezio Collection deals with the Ezio trilogy.

Should be every game in the series to help newcomers get into it, including AC1 for the first time for PS4 (already BC on Xbox One).

Made me realize that after the AC3 and Liberation remasters are out next year, AC1 is the only one still missing from current gen if the Xbox One BC one doesn't count.

I'd just like to see it be AC3, AC Black Flag and AC Rogue. Giving us all titles on this gen consoles.

Ezio is "Italian Renaissance" collection, so after that "Colonial era" collection makes most sense that could include games like AC3, AC3 Liberation, AC4, Freedom Cry and AC Rogue.

I dont think that "Third Crusade" collection makes too much sense because from 3 games one is DS and other is Vita game.

"Compilation" makes it pretty hard to guess.
Right now there has been
The Ezio Collection (2, B, R)
The America's Collection (3, L, BF)
Heritage Collection (1, 2, B, R, 3)
Triple Pack (BF, U, S)

Could it be a standalone AC 3/Liberation remaster? After Ezio the next collection should be The Kenway or America's Collection with 3, Liberation, Black Flag and Rogue. The inclusion of the Switch makes me think that the Compilation should at the very least include AC1 (which the only AC game that hasn't gotten the full remaster treatment yet, aside from an XB1X enhancement).

My guess is it's just AC3 + Liberation, as Ubisoft already made clear in their announcement that those two remasters would be bundled together.

AC3 is getting a stand-alone boxed release similar to Far Cry 3: Classic Edition. So not that.

My hope is that the collection has AC1-4 + Brotherhood and Rogue. Could be a best buy on the Switch

would be cool if it was all the mainline assassin creed games!.. (not including origin or odyssey at a guess though)...

That'd be 7 games (I assume it'd also include Revelations, since it wouldn't make sense to have AC, ACII and Brotherhood but not have the game that finishes those stories).

Since the price here is €40 I think that's unlikely. The Ezio collection launched at €60 so a price of €40 suggests we're looking at two or three games (maybe four at a stretch if it's ACIII and IV and then also includes Liberation and Freedom Cry).

Only played 1 and 2 so I would be very interested if it includes at least 2 games that are new to me.

The Switch needs more 'Ubisoft-style' open world games so releasing some of the old Assassin Creed titles on the console would be great. I doubt this will be any more than 3 titles, however. My bet would be 2, 3 and 4 (though 2 on its own would be strange) or perhaps 3, 4 and Rogue. I doubt the Switch could even run any of the current-gen exclusive titles.

Since the Ezio Collection already exists on PS4 and XBO, it's hard to imagine what this would be. Nevertheless, it's good news if true.

Yeah, it would seem pointless for Ubisoft to be selling two separate AC compilations on PS4/XBO with overlapping games.

Some combination of ACIII, Black Flag, Rogue, Liberation and Freedom Cry would make the most sense, since those have the loose "North American" connection. It'd be minimal additional work for Ubisoft on PS4 and Xbox One since most of those games already work on those machines and they're already working on ACIII and Liberation, and those are all games that should have no problems on Switch (unlike Unity/Syndicate/Origins/Odyssey).

The old games pre-Origins were the best. I'd love to see a Switch collection with 1 through Rogue at the very least. With AC3 getting a remaster with fixes and improvements I hope that shows up too.

So much better games than Origins and Odyssey.

Huh, I might actually get this. I have fond memories of Assassin's Creed II and III and portable would make them even better.

I'm fairly sure these were packaged together before at some point as the New World collection, or something similar.

They were on PS3/Xbox 360, yes. There were two collections on those platforms - the American Saga collection (III, Liberation, IV) and the Heritage Collection (AC, ACII, Brotherhood, Revelations, III). Those are European labels for the compilations, there might be alternative names elsewhere.

So whatever games this compilation might include, most are all of them are almost certainly part of some other compilation already.

Hell yeah! No real reason why AC1-4 couldn't run on Switch. I'll gladly take another compilation that includes some of my favorite games of all time on my favorite platform. Please and thank you Ubisoft.
