Makes sense Spider-Man did well, PS4 owners are starving in Japan /s

In all seriousness, that's a really impressive debut, doubling sales prediction is no joke. Hopefully the legs are good too ^^

Told you we're gonna be seeing a lot of this for Spider-Man in other markets as well. It's going to be really interesting to see how well it'll do worldwide during its first month.

Taiko is legging pretty well. I wonder if Namco will shift Switch to the more lucrative holiday window next year since PS4 died hard?

God damn, Spider-Man is truly a WW IP. Impressive debut!

Looking at this thread, interesting that the PS4 is still ahead of the PS3 at the same point in time and how consistent the Switch sales have been this year (seriously, look at that line! So straight! :P).

Spiderman selling 125k is crazily good. Once again showing how different Japan audience have become nowadays.

Ps4 only getting 2k boost though... is bad. Saturation point is probably close.

Great numbers for Spiderman

I know that fighting games don't sell really well in Japan (except the Nintendo games), but 15k for SNK Heroines is kinda meh no?

I mean its a Spider-Man release post MCU with a lot of global backing from Sony and Marvel.
This cant be really compared to past releases....Japanese gamers have been listening for a while whenever they had the feeling that a title is massive globally and didnt wanna miss out - see GTA, CoD, Skyrim and co.

Wow, Sony has to be concerned with those hardware numbers when you have 3 games in the top 3 and still can crack 20K units in a week.

What exactly is a "new price edition"? in my mind that's a price drop but I don't see why it would get its own listing on the charts.

They got MH:W exclusive and they created one of the biggest marketing campaings Japan ever saw for it, what more could they do?

They tried hard, nothing worked, the japanese market is clearly not interested in their product.

Nice, I bet Spider-Man would have sold even better if they included his giant robot, Leopardon, from the 70s Spider-Man show.

This game is definitely proof that advertising works. Most Marvel movies haven't exactly did gangbusters in Japan, so this is a pleasant surprise.

Well, I got to take the L on Spider-Man. Didn't think it would sell this well, due to historical sales. Good work Insomniac.

Hakuoki Switch did not chart but apparently, the PS4 version did not either until the full year round up for 2017:
Code:
478./000. [PS4] Hakuoki: Shinkai - Fuukaden # <ADV> (Idea Factory) {2017.07.13} (¥7.200) - 5.306 / NEW (831 <45,36%>)

Sure. But again this shows that Jp gamers nowadays is not as insular as the previous gens. And i believe it is due to PS3 era where many 3rd party simply fail to provides good game experience which lead to many jp gamers to try new thing from the west which have grown bigger and bigger each gen.

It seems like everyone who wants a PS4 in Japan already has a PS4. Looks like this maybe as good as it gets.
