Game Data Library shows Sakura Taisen 4 sales at 257k. As far as I can tell there's only one SKU for it as no reprint or budget rerelease is listed. What listing(s) for ST4 do you see selling 20k to add to 277k total?
DCSakura Taisen 4 [All Versions]207.462 277.983 SEGA21/03/2002

Even at 257k for ST4 though SW (166k) plus 20% PSN (33k) is still closer to ST5 (145k) anyway.

What are the chances that publishers would repackage their PS4 games with PS5 boxes whenever they get patched?

That could potentially help PS5 to have boxed "PS5" versions of Ys IX, Yakuza 7, Final Fantasy VIIR, RE3, etc.

But the only listing for Sakura Taisen 4 shows 257k. I went through them all. There is no "memorial pack" release or anything like that.
I see this, but no clue what the mystery version is:

DCSakura Taisen 4 [All Versions] 207.462 277.983 SEGA21/03/2002
DCSakura Taisen 4 207.462 257.386 SEGA21/03/2002

Irrelevant anyway. See my edit:

A 20% digital split would mean around 207k total. 166/207=.8

207 is closer to 257 than 145. Anyway it doesn't matter. This has lost any sense of purpose long ago. Sorry.

Thanks Fularu! I kept trying to figure out where those extra 20k came from.

I can see it, but considering they'd just be rereleases, I doubt they'd do well enough to be worthwhile. especially when people can pick up a used copy and just download the patch

(Correct me if wrong)
ACNH 7.150.000 (june-30 Nintendo) - 5.004.720(june-28 Famitsu retail) = 2145280 digital & others
+ 332.408 (aug-02 famitsu retail) = 7482408 total ( there is a error range of 2 days of sales)
What a monster. Im just waiting for SW-SH numbers to make the Pokemon Generations vs AC:NH chart.
The whole first generation of Pokemon wont be a problem for Animal Crossing : R/G/B/Y: 13.390.000

It's kind of funny that Japan is one of the territories that's keeping Breath of the Wild from catching up to Smash even faster

Looks like the normal Vs sell-through to me. None of the first weeks posted by Chris (as well as Versus) had higher than 60-80% sell-through.

Not a terrible 2nd week for Ninjala. Hope it continues to rank to see that sell-through rise.

brazil, unfortunately
I was wrong about the sub 50k week, but right about sub 100k week. Witch is almost the same thing.

On a less serious note, interesting to see third party having more success on a Nintendo console than on Sony's console:
07./00. [NSW] Fairy Tail # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2020.07.30} (¥7.800) - 15.447 / NEW
09./00. [PS4] Fairy Tail # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2020.07.30} (¥7.800) - 13.236 / NEW

A while ago, this would have been unthinkable.

On Nintendo Direct thread, there are a lot of rumors of new announcements in the near future, perhaps Mario 3D collection as a September game so the sales can keep above 2019.

Sell-through range is too wide to conclude if it's good or bad for Gundam. If it's the lower bar it's definitively bad, but if it's the higher end, it looks fine.

I'm happy that DQXIS has been chugging along. I wonder if the Switch sales, all markets, pass the million units?

I don't think we should expect the physical edition of Ninjala to keep being in the charts like this as long as it's free to play. There's no real point.

I can assure you at least 5 of these games this week will fall off the top 30 chart next week so DQ will actually go up a space or two.

Sakura Wars did way better in Japan than VC4 did, hence in terms of Japanese sales it was a better use of that team. The same dev team made VC4 and Shin Sakura Wars if you didn't know. That may be the source of your confusion.

That's not the case at all, VC4 is a project mostly outsourced to Media Vision (just like every game after the original entry) while Shin Sakura Taisen was made internally at Sega.
I'm not sure where your confusion comes from because they never framed the games as being made by the same team and their release date were too close to each other for that to be realistically possible (especially as the VC team had to deal with the Switch SKU after releasing the game on PS4)

The real head scratcher is why it was ever made in the first place.

It was the most requested IP for a revival on some online survey made in Japan (kinda remind us of a game that appeared in the chart this week eh), it had and probably still has a dedicated hardcore fan base that allowed the IP to far outlive its last entry.

I wish someone would upload the credits of the new Sakura Wars on mobygames (what Fisico says is correct though), as it'd allow a better comparison.
As it stands, the VC4 team has more in common with Shining Resonance...

Somewhere. I think.
Famitsu put a disclaimer that next hardware + top 10 software report will be at Thursday 20 August for weeks 32+33 combined.

Top 30 software for week 32 sometime between Monday and Thursday of that week apparently.

Top 30 software for week 33 at Friday.

Oh god, not this crap again. Well, at least we're getting numbers. Can't say the same about the eShop charts, though. Nintendo seem to be on vacation already, so no charts this week. At least we should have Obon week on August 17th.

Footage of PS4 owners storming Bamco HQ to demand a port:

dozens-of-us.gif

(Or maybe it's just people interested in Root Film, hard to say).

29./00. [NSW] Yoru, Tomosu <ADV> (Nippon Ichi Software) {2020.07.30} (¥6.980) - 1.748 / NEW <40-60%>
30./00. [PS4] Root Film <ADV> (Kadokawa Games) {2020.07.30} (¥6.800) - 1.679 / NEW <40-60%>

Ouch. NIS really can't catch a break, heh. Genuinely impressed they can stay afloat with some many games failing to break the 5k barrier with NSW+PS45 combined. Got the feeling Mad Rat Dead is going to be ugly.

Shame for Root Film, looked really neat from what I saw, but I guess VN aren't exactly chart monsters.

Bamco porting doraemon on PS4 while refusing to port idolmaster, tales of arise, kakarot etc on switch.
Good business decisions.

The next time someone is smugly implying how (full priced and late) 3rd party ports are not selling on the Switch just show them the results of Yo-kai Watch 4 and Doreamon: Story of Seasons for PS4. Late ports which don't offer anything new or are at least discounted are oftentimes not doing well regardless of platform.

shouldn't the game rise this week because of Obon? Maybe not much but perhaps selling 5k instead of 2K?
The "problem" is that the game is currently heavily discounted in the eshop (-40%) so it might hurt sales at retail for a while. However they'll soon release a budget version of the game which might boost legs even more.

I really can't make fun of that Doraemon port. The idea of 2000 happy players that didn't have a Switch having fun in a farm with Doraemon is too nice. Good for them.

ok, still 2k is not bad for a game selling at full price nearly a year after launch while a heavily discounted.

is the budget version a reason now that the game is coming to PS4?

I think the budget version is speculative based on the fact the PS4 version is 4,800¥/$40(I think those figures are right?).
