The only way to know digital is at the end of every quarter. Even if initial shipment for Mario Maker 2 is around half million it's almost impossible to top 1m at the end of September with Lite coming at the end of the month, so it goes for the end of December.

Huh, I somehow completely missed that Capcom announced a new Mega Man X platformer... for mobile. I wonder if that hurts the chances of MMX9

Edit: I read Protodude's article, and it seems like a fairly large effort. Weird to keep it mobile exclusive. Platformers don't work well with touch controls, and most people don't have mobile gamepads.

People always tend to forget how much Nintendo games (even old ones) sell during holidays in December.

Super Mario Maker 2 is posed to sell >70-100k weekly at the end of December/beginning of January.

It has no competition in the same genre from now until the next Nintendo platformers which might either a new Kirby/Donkey Kong Country game or Odyssey 2 in 2020.

You're right, but wouldnt you expect the bar to be a bit higher than that? For example, previous console Spiderman games were also sub 10k (and one Spiderman game for the DS was maybe around 25k), but the PS4 game sold several of 100k. Not that i would expect that from MUA3 to come close to that, but i think it shows that Marvel is more popular in Japan now. MUA3 is also published by Nintendo this time around. Same thing how Sony handled Spiderman PS4. Both first party published this time around.

Expectations were low and preferred to let the game at auto pilot.

I don't think the joke made sense considering how well the game sold. That said, I don't find the joke all that tasteful considering people died in that heatwave.

In that case (hasnt there been hardly any commercials etc.?), then thats too bad. I think it could have had some potential. But even if it did somewhat better, it probably wouldnt have too much effect on Nintendo's overall business though.

Yeah, it is perplexing they'd ignore a large market like that, but you can't expect something like MUA3 to sell anything notable with how it's been pushed (or not pushed in this case). Truly a case of "the West will save it" I guess

I would switch MK8 Deluxe with Mario Maker 2 and put Splatoon 2 in the list. Over than that yeah expect something similar

Since we have a bad habbit from some lately to post YSO predictions every time they fit their agenda this what was given for this week.

[PS4] Professional Baseball Spirits 2019: 60k-140k / average 90k
[PSV] Professional Baseball Spirits 2019: 15k-40k / average 30k
[NSW] Super Mario Maker 2: 30-45k / average 35k

Let's see who will mention them again.

Resetera prediction average for first two weeks of Professional Baseball Spirits 2019: 110k
YSO wins again. I wonder who will be closer for Fire Emblem.

YSO makes predictions one week before release, Resetera on month before release. It is easier to check trends closer to the release. And Pro Baseball Spirits started rising high on Amazon.jp and retailers rankings just after Resetera predictions were made.

Anyway, YSO are basing their predictions on COMG, that's why there are off by big margin these days, since COMG lost all of its relevance.

Yeah COMG has been awful for Switch releases. Notable exceptions being Splatoon 2 and maybe Smash.
