20./33. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo <ETC> (Nintendo) {2016.11.23} (¥2.700) - 3.991 / 405.306

Great week for the Switch overall, hardware bump not as much as I expected.

Good software sales for Switch evergreen, and nice hold for GOW.

Good to see Tropical Freeze breaking expectations.

According to Famitsu initial shipment for Tropical Freeze is 120-160k. It's already over Wii U LTD without counting digital.

21./00. [NSW] Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 for Nintendo Switch <FTG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2017.09.07} (¥6.800) - 3.561 / 151.571 <80-100%> (+101%)

This is always surprising.

The game outsold the PS4 version:

PS4 Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 - 135.286
PS4 Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 - Deluxe Edition - 4.017

It is on its way to outsell the first game on PS3 and PS4 combined:

PS3 Dragon Ball: Xenoverse - 115.673
PS4 Dragon Ball: Xenoverse - 77.517

Total: 193.910

Gotta ask, where is that 500k come from?

It was inferred from Nintendo shipment data:

https://www./threads/animal-crossing-new-leaf-sells-800k-digital-copies-500k-eshop.510716/

800k digital copies, 500k of which on eShop (the remaining were eShop cards).

Also, these are outdated data, because they refer to a few months after launch.

The game was completely sold-out at launch.

Alot of things going against tropical freeze at the time, Nintendo already had a lot of 2D platformers released at the time, the Nintendo community was generally down on it as Well as the Metroid fans out in full force. Which spread into WoM. Just a sucky situation all around. The PR wasentnthe greatest either

This whole July 13th is very intriguing.

Plus we agreed that Nintendo would find a way to make the Switch cheaper when Pokemon hits to push the 1 Switch/person thing.

It is an easy way to do it.
I didn't expect the Mini this early in the year but maybe that's it. That would definitely match with the delays between the first and second versions of their previous handhelds. It would also make a lot of sense to reduce the costs and reach a younger audience like I have stated many times. In Japan especially such a new model would certainly really help. The only question imo is to know if that's even possible to manufacture it right now. But should they release it asap if so ? In my book absolutely to start to replace the 3DS and even if Switch sales are already great globally, I know they are. The younger market is way too important for Nintendo to just address it with what is now an outdated product. That would be much better than a price drop for the regular console and such device would be absolutely perfect in terms of price and form factor to reach that audience in prevision of Pokemon.

I wonder if we'll ever get a full Switch top 10 (for MC or Famitsu).
Are 3DS and PS4 even going to be relevant in any way next year in Japan? That probably doesn't make sense in the rest of the world for Sony to launch the PS5 soon but in Japan I can only see them really suffering in the two coming years if they don't.

It will be a gread summer for Switch's software. Minecraft is no longer the incredible success it was a few years ago but it will still sell a lot.

Minecraft has sold extremely well on the eShop, with Splatoon 2 being 300-400K digital - Minecraft at the very least doubled those sales since it was released last May.

I mean, it still sold 22 million in 2017, and has 74 million MAU, so it's hardly diminished I'd say.

I'm not saying that Minecraft isn't big, I'm saying that isn't as big as it was a few years ago. I think Fortnite took its place as "the trend".

New Famicom Mini in Japan to celebrate Weekly Shonen Jump's 50th anniversary. Of course, it'll have only Shonen Jump games.

I'm thinking new mode for Splatoon 2 will be announced. Not for Ranked but rather a new PVE mode that's timed similarly to Salmon Run where Octarians and Inklings work together. That would be shocking part - I'm thinking Grizzco is reveled as the big bad.

i hit ctrl+f 'expectations' super hard and nothing is showing up i think something is wrong with my computer can you help or is this an issue i should take up with the apple genius bar

Its not a computer issue thats for sure ;)

This has nothing to do with what I asked.

Why do you think Nintendo continuously supports Splatoon while cuts ARMS off relatively soon?

I mean, it's basically like the difference between RE6 and Revelations in terms of western ad spend. I'm not sure you're so desperately adverse to acknowledging this point, Capcom themselves attributed the western growth largely to this and global launch.

Considering you made up that "investor alarming advertising" in that one MHW thread, I'm going to need a citation to that.

Capcom already identified before the game even released that launching on PS4/XB1/PC will lead to growth in the West. There's no need for such denial.

What denial? You mean your denial? Here's Capcom's statement on why MHW sold what it did:

Monster Hunter: World is the latest entry in the series, and the first new Monster Hunter title for home consoles in nine years. It is also the first title in the series to be given a global simultaneous launch, and was given an ambitious worldwide promotional campaign in order to further build upon its fan base both in Japan and in markets overseas. As a result, Monster Hunter: World has overcome both linguistic and cultural barriers to delight approximately 7 million players worldwide, and has shipped 7.5 million units, making it the best-selling title in company history.

Capcom's promotional budgets for MH1-4 also never raised investor queries but World did. Are you telling me you think it's promotion and handling had little to do with it's expansion?

True, all the World bickering is low-effort. High time to take the arguments to the next level ;)

I know the pettiness will never end but the hope is if they just announce this shit then the two camps can have their games and hopefully shut the fuck up about mistake this and handheld ghetto that.

Probably high optimism but yolo.

So you don't give concrete evidence on your first point (ARMS) and have the balls to ask for citation to verify the second (MHW)? hahaha man just when I thought you could not surprise me anymore ;D

Makes sense you would ignore the first sentence.
An investor asked a question and you tried to spin it as "investor alarming advertising".

No, but the biggest reason MHW is now going to outsell MH4+4U in several months is because Capcom had the foresight to change platforms to PS4 and XB1/PC.

I expected a little more from DQB... at this rate it probably won't get to 100.000 (I suppose the sequel will cut the tiny legs it could have). Just a reminder that no every third party port on Switch will be a success like Xenoverse 2.

About that Handheld ghetto, would all the FP titles on Switch that used to be mainly Console games that are now breaking records left and right on Switch indicate that they escaped Home Console ghetto and are now flourishing on the Handheld/Hybrid Switch ?
