This is one of the best games on the Switch! So great to see all the love for it here. They really pulled off a unique take on the XCOM formula and made it fun and fit into the source material really well. Going to pick up the digital version actually with these discounts just to have it ready to play.

I really hope one day they make a sequel. My main wish would be to do some more between the tactical phase, such as a strategic layer like XCOM has but of course with their own spin on it.

Is the DLC on sale in the EU?

checking nintendo UK's website, the season pass isn't on sale but the DK adventure is.

The DLC itself?! In EU? Finally. I've noticed a few publishers do this. Wonder if it's an attempt to get people to sell their base version and just buy the newer one.

Weird, the Spanish site only shows the DK adventure at discount, but if you go to the shop, the Seasson Pass is too. I just grabbed it.

This thread reminds me that I need to finish this game. For some reason I stopped playing it on the last world. I was having a pretty good time though!

Is the DK DLC worth $10? I remember reading impressions that it was a pretty solid expansion.

I bought this the last time it went on sale and I look forward to playing. It's been on my queue for several months now but I bet I'll have fun.

The only turnoff is that I don't like the way rabbids look at all. It has never struck me as remotely charming. But the combination of a familiar face and the utter grotesque is... kind of amusing, I suppose.

i thought i would feel the same about rabbids too and only got the game for the mario cast, but ended up loving the rabbids. very charming and funny. rabbid peach is one of the best characters of this gen imo.

I cannot stand the design of Rabbids but this game was fun. It was a nice challenge too.

Maybe I'll buy the DK dlc.

To anyone who has snagged the DLC, how big is the download?
the DK adventure is 1.4GB, the other two DLC should be small as they're just weapons and maps.

is the DLC worth 10 bucks? I'm going on a trip this weekend and I remember this game being better than it had any right of being
yeah, if you liked the main game you would like the DLC too, and it's around half the length of the original campaign so 10 bucks is a great price.

So the gold edition includes DK but not the super hard challenges and pixel weapons, is that right? Or does it include everything?
it includes everything (game+season pass)

Man time flies! This game was awesome.

I went and finally got the DK DLC and I'll need to grab the cart from my friend...

I bought a Switch back in June, and Mario+Rabbids was one of two games I purchased, alongside BotW. It's the one that hooked me more, out of those two.

With how well this game has done Im surprised they haven't ported XCom to switch.

Just given the way that game performs on Xbox, I think it'd be a tough port to Switch.

If I had to summarize what makes this game great:

Peach is the shotgun-wielding tank of the team.

I got kind of distracted by other games and never actually went back to finishing this game, but I really enjoyed my time with it

Glad to finally see the DLC go on sale by itself rather than just as part of the complete edition. Happy to just pick up the Donkey Kong expansion instead of the season pass given I doubt I'd ever touch hard challenge maps lol

I got a Switch last summer with this, Odyssey and BotW in the E3 sale and actually ended up getting hooked into and beating it first.

Streamlined but still has some depth, borrows some core components but also adds its own spin on gameplay with a focus on movement abilities. Base gameplay is fairly easy/accessible, but going for minimal move finishes and such is fun and some of the optional challenges are quite good. Nice aesthetic too within the traditional Mario style. Rabbids didn't even bother me!

I had some minor issues at the time that I can barely recall right now, weapon system was a little simple for one, the DLC is good but didn't feel as polished.

I played through the first area from the start again, and I have to say that it's a shame that this game's freezing issues still haven't been fixed. The first time I was supposed to be transported back to the castle, the game froze on the loading screen. I ended up having to force close the game from the system menu. Once I loaded the game back up, my party was at the marker for the third part of the first area, so I missed whatever happened back at the castle. Very frustrating.

Also, I'd completely forgotten how the camera angle outside of battles makes me nauseous. The game's still enjoyable, but I can't play very long on account of the exploration camera. I wish it allowed you to look further ahead.

This is one of my favorite games on Switch, This is for sure worth it if you have an extra $20 available for games. It always goes on sale so $20 is the normal price IMO

If you ever had a remote interest in the DLC, this is the time to get it. IIRC this is the first time it has ever been on sale by itself.
Thank god I had some gold coins! (completely forgot) so I ended up paying 6.18 USD for the Donkey Kong DLC.

Is the DLC worth getting? $13.00 is tempting

I think so. There's quite a bit of gameplay, and DK is an interesting character in terms of movement options.

This is a really great game precisely because of how it treats movement. You can get across the map very easily if you think about how to use the map's features (and enemies' heads) to your advantage. Flanking an enemy feels very good in this game. I bought it at launch, got the DLC when it came out, and 100%'d it. All that's left is (hopefully) a sequel.

i agree, the freedom in movement is imo why the battles are so enjoyable. i'm not very experienced in the genre but usually you have a very limited area your character can move to, here if you use your allies, the enemies, the environment and do combos and stuff you can move all over the place which makes battles way more interesting.

Loved this game, but I never beat it. I think I binged it too hard and lost steam in world 4, I really need to get back to it and finish it plus the DLC.

The only thing I didn't like is that you always had to have Mario on your team, but otherwise it was a great strategy title and the characters were super charming.
I'm the same, finished World 3 and my interest diverted elsewhere and didn't go back. I like the look of the DK expansion though.
One thing I didn't like about the game is how the challenge levels from previous worlds become easier as you progress through the game. I would prefer if they forced levels/gear from the world they belong.

So, if I don't care for hard challenges maps, I'm good with the DK adventure? Or is the season pass worth it?

Loved this game, but couldn't beat the very last boss. Sad I never got to finish it completely but oh well. If you haven't played it yet you should!

Been waiting for the DLC to go on sale since it released. Do I need the full season pass, or should I just get the Donkey Kong story?

Edit: lol, I see this has been answered above.

Most underrated Switch game, and definitely in my Switch top 5. TBH I thought the DLC was a bit light for the price (at full price). It's excellent, but there's not a lot there. At that sale price, it's a steal.

Is the DLC worth it?
Yes x1000. Unlocking abilities is much faster helping with progression and changing up your strategies. DK is very dynamic in how he plays and makes for some really cool combos alongside the two rabbid characters. The length and variety of battle objectives hits the spot. AND not least of all it has masterclass tracks like this one:

Most underrated Switch game

Underrated? It may got not the big public attention of BotW or Odyssey, but it was very well reviewed and universally praised everywhere.

As far as turn based battles go it's probably one of the best games out there. On a personal note I enjoyed this much more than Fire Emblem, because it concentrates on gameplay and battles, Fire Emblem feels for me more like a Dating-Sim/Visual Novel with some battles as afterthought.

Mario+Rabbids is nearly perfect in graphics, gameflow and polish. The DK DLC is great too.

Absolute gem of a game . It's without a doubt the best looking game on switch . Don't bother with the standard edition you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don't play the DK expansion.

I'm a new Switch owner so I've been buying a few games off eBay and Mario Rabbids was one of them and it's my favourite game so far, I love XCOM and the game is really well made. I picked up the season pass without a second thought, I paid only £6 with the coins discount. The Donkey Kong DLC looks fantastic.

My issues with the end game aside, I absolutely adored this game. My favorite feature probably was the freedom to respec and try out different tactics, the fantasic OST by Kirkhope and the fantasic gameplay.

Really hope we get to see a sequel soon.

This is such a great game. I would love a sequel without just rabbid enemies, though. Add in some Nintendo baddies too.

Depending on how you like to play, I would say 10 to 12 hours :)
On our side it was quite a nightmare, as we decided to rework the combat system to allow DK to Grab, Carry and Throw stuff around. (plus many other changes to the game structure)
Getting a direct reply from the director himself, awesome :)

I haven't played it yet but it's on my to do soon list, my brother and two friends have played it and love it! Hope we get to see more Nintendo / Ubi colabs in the future!

No, thank you, you and your team did an awesome job.

That's accurate, the DLC is quite meaty and full of new mechanics.
It does feel more focused than the main game too, since you're not changing your team at all.

Anyway, I think I'm not alone when I say: we want more. :)
