They do but they have their preferences, they won't equip everything. You also need to change their battle instructions in the companion wheel in some cases as well (like to stop Veronica from punching things). Raul have two different outcomes depending on how you handle his personal question but I think in both he uses pistols? The best one uses pistols anyway

Large texture patch is fucked. Don't use it.
Also, enjoy the only modern Fallout game! Made.by people who care about the franchise.
So... should I try medium ?

My strategy with mods:

-Play for a while, familiarize with mechanics.

-If I find something that I think it is cumbersome or annoying I try to find a mod for it;

-I try to avoid too much overhauling, staying close to "tweak territory". I want to mod not break it;

-Graphics are same, try to ads some bells and whistles without deviating from vanilla;

-Above all though: everything is subjective, you mod it according to the way you want to play.

Don't up this thread during GamesCom, during Microsoft's event, no less.
D@mn, man. I got really excited there for a minute.

"How will this re-release look on my PS4 Pro and Xbox One X? What improvements did Bethesda and/or Obsidian make to the PC release? Need it NOW!! ..."

Now with nearly 30 hours in the game, with some crashes here and there, occasionally a bug, I would say that I have a very good opinion about the game.
The writing is stellar, it doesn't has that annoying feeling that you are the chosen one, and that every time everyone wants your help.
Well, it does occur, but at least they try to create a reason, "I don't trust anyone here" or the player asks to be part of what is happening.

Another good thing about the writing:
The factions aren't obviously "good", the NCR, the Brotherhood of Steel, all share in common some degree of greed or isolationism . I have to admit, when I played for the first time I was looking for more stuff dedicated to the Vaults, so I didn't enjoy the game back then. but now I can see how this game is about the world created, how people moved on.
"Life finds a way".
About the quests: There is always a different way to complete using the differente skills. It may be obvious but since the last time I played was so long ago, I have missed this kind of freedom

New Vegas (not Ultimate) was the first game I played and finished on my new PC, so there's some recency bias.

However, I think it's my favorite RPG in quite sometime, and actually lets you lean in to whatever you want to be.

I chose an independent Vegas, though.

I seem to remember there was a mod that made the landscape a bit less brown, but i can't find it in my saved links or on Nexus. Anyone have something similar by chance?

Could be NMCs Texture pack WASHEDOUTWASTELAND Large and Medium ?
Alternative landscape with a more washed-out/ less red landscape/rocks, more matching the original game's colouration. If after trying it, you prefer my original colouring of the landscape, simply re-install the original mod.

That wasn't the textures (although new textures are a must, certainly.

It was most likely Fellout (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34888/), but there is apparently a newer mod called Clarity which has a similar effect (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62481/).

Edit: Also, Nevada Skies helps as well. (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35998/).

Edit 2: Wasteland and Flora Overhaul is also good (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39856/?)

I HAVE A QUESTION

is it normal that your companions follow you to the Dead Money DLC ?
I'm using a lot of mods so I don't know if this is a "bug". Because with their assistance the game becomes too easy.

No, no companions should follow you to any DLC.

I have a mod that allows me to have more than one companion at a time (because I personally don't like the dumb gameplay reason for only having one partner), but I leave them behind for DLC because the DLC's story is written specifically that you are alone in that new area, unlike the main game.

I'm guessing what probably happened was you have that mod installed or it came as part of a bundle of other mods, and what the game does is that it subtracts your number of companions by one before entering a DLC; so if you had more than one companion at a time, you probably got some companions that snuck in with you.

I use this mod, but recently I install one that helps inviting and dismissing everyone at the same time, but I installed AFTER the begin of Old World Blues, now that I started Dead Money they followed me. so it is probably this. Thank you

Yeah, they replaced NMM with Vortex recently. I like it actually, makes modding easier than ever before.

If you have mods installed from NMM, I recommend uninstall everything and start from scratch using Vortex.

IIRC, Vortex's 'deploy' is just kind of like the old LOOT program - which tries to sort your load order, and if possible, see if there are any outstanding issues which could lead to crashes/issues when starting the game itself - which it will then likely alert you to, and in some cases, pick which file you want to actually be loaded in case of conflicts.

It definitely takes a bit of getting used to, but IMO once you get going the client itself isn't bad - the tutorial could definitely be better, though.

In essence, you need to either migrate your list of nexus mods to the Vortex client (which I didn't bother with), or (re)-assign everything again - once you do, you 'should' (there are still some bugs with the new client) be able to run things smoothly. You can either re-download things, or if you still have the zip files, just drag and drop the files into the bottom of the vortex client page on the mods tab.

Honestly the most annoying part was figuring out how to get the NVSE launcher to launch from Vortex itself - for whatever reason, it's not nearly as intuitive as Nexus Mod Manager was, and you have to 'flag' NVSE as a special executable to get it as an option from the main 'launcher' tab.

edit:

Gopher also has a video series on it, though (IMO) not nearly as intuitive as some of his previous ones.

There is an updated version of NMM on github. It fixes quite a few bugs and works fine with downloading from Nexus. I never bothered migrating to Vortex but really should one of these days I guess.

It's just between Skyrim SE, Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion and so on its a lot of stuff to migrate.

I started doing the Independent Vegas quests / Wildcard and this triggered "Beware the Wrath of Caesar!"

Is it possible to use console commands to get the quest "Et Tumor, Brute?" and save Caesar so he can be at the final mission ?

I used to have a set modlist to post on these occasions, but I guess that was on the other place. I'll just link this amazing UI mod that uses the more classic look of the original FO games. I can't play NV without it:

Interface Mod - Revelation (Classic Fallout UI)
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34971

34971-4-1291216036.jpg

34971-2-1291216035.jpg
Revelation is a winner.

The only other mod i would recommend would be Mr New Vegas Secret Stash. Almost all of the quests in the game are titled after different songs. Some of the songs are in the game.. most are not. This mod adds those 60+ missing songs to the radio. Good luck finding it though. It seems to have been scrubbed from the internet.

Didnt notice how old the thread was lol

How the hell have I never seen that toaster lol. Amazing.
OWB has one of the best ending slides.

The first half of that DLC is pretty weak due to the town environment. It's so repetitive and non-descript, it's hard to tell where you are. I enjoyed it once you got into the casino though.

There are the enemies constantly respawning, getting lost in a maze like environment, and the hard to find radios.

Sorry to reply to an old post...

I hated the game at launch.
It crashed on me a lot and I never played the first two Fallout games. My friend would play them when we hung out at his house and I'd watch a little bit and go on the other PC to play... Iunno, some of his older games in his "binder" like Rise of the Triad or Cyberia or some fan-made Doom wads or something. Since Fallout 3 was my first real encounter with the series, I guess I was just expecting more of that where things felt "obviously right or wrong" or something like that. Where it felt like it was clear what you were "supposed" to pick as your choices. I started a new playthrough right after The Outer Worlds reveal and played it a ton in December (some 75+ hours-that's not a bit) to do a standard playthrough, another quick "hardcore" run for the achievement, and another one to get the last ending achievement I needed and then started on some DLC.

Man, I guess what I'm looking for in games story-wise/gameplay-wise has changed because I absolutely loved New Vegas this time. The only thing I think I can really say right now is no matter how I play, I'm always like "Man eff the Legion."

so good.

My favorite Fallout game. I enjoyed it way more than 3. I never finished all the DLCs since I bounced off Old World Blues hard and my 360 got messed up. If I ever have money to blow on building a gaming PC, I would replay it and add mods.

I thought Honest Hearts was all right. I don't remember much of it though other than the Yao Guai and the giant mosquitoes. I enjoyed Dead Money and found the ending bittersweet in a good way. Boon and the bot are my boys but I also enjoyed Cass as an ally. She was great.

I'm playing HH right now, finished DM earlier. At first I hated DM because those boring ghost people, but the ending was really cool. I'm at my first 2 hours in Zion so I can't say if it is better than DM.
Old World Blues remain as the best DLC, fun, great new weapons, funny characters and more.

I know this is a necrobump but I installed and modded New Vegas about 2 weeks ago and figured it's better to post here. I Got 30 hours in, started Honest Hearts, and the game started freezing constantly. I only had about 10 mods installed and nothing huge or very game changing, but I began to uninstall things 1 at a time and finally got it fixed I guess. No more freezes for hours now!

No idea what was causing crashing but I am so glad it's fixed because this is one of the BEST games I have ever played. I'm past HH now and level 24 with around 60 hours played and feels like I'm not even halfway lol. The game is way bigger than I expected.

The story is just ace. I love the factions, side quests, tons of towns and dungeons and loot. There is some really awesome stuff I have found that has really helped me decimate the last few hours of content.

New Vegas sets a perfect tone. The desolation of the desert theme. The hopelessness everywhere. The understated but incredible music. Stories packed away all over the world. I could go on and on but I am glad Im playing this. I have a bad habit of buying and playing lots of games but almost never finishing them, but I'm hooked for the whole ride here. Been playing it daily for 2 weeks straight and thinking about it while I'm not lol.

Anyone have a good suggestion for something on this level after I'm done??? I can tell I'm gonna have a sinking feeling when it's over so I would love to jump into another RPG with an open world with incredible storytelling :)

The closest thing that comes to mind if you don't mind a little Eurojank is probably Elex. It's a little rough around the edges, and the beginning of the game has a requires some experimenting and finessing around a stiff level curve before you settle into a groove of exploring freely and learning more about the game's lore. Pretend like you start the game with negative levels and have to work up to some baseline and it will pay off.

Gonna throw a more linear (not open world at least) game suggestion, and say Alpha Protocol.

New Vegas playthrough 2 with a different character build and a different faction.

Also I highly recommend downloading the top rated/most popular radio station mods. I have literally hundreds of songs in New Vegas, all accessivle through the in-game radio in the pip-boy with different genres/styles (i.e. a christmas/winter one, a nuclear scare one, an easy pop one) and they all fit right in to the series as a whole (a lot of them were later used in Fallout 4). They also change the volume appropriately within the context of the game (i.e. gets slightly quieter during dialog sections etc.)

The hardest part about going back to fallout 4 on consoles is only having like 13 licensed songs.

Mr. New Vegas Secret Stash is my favorite mod like this. The problem is that the mod was taken down years ago for infringement so its very difficult to find. What the mod does is add music that the quest titles are referring to. Pretty much every single quest in the game references music from the time period. Unfortunately Obsidian didnt have a budget of $100 million to license it all because roaming the Mojave with the following added into the playlist is incredible.

1 - Back in the Saddle
2 - They Went That-a-Way
3 - Ring-a-Ding-Ding
4 - Ace in the Hole
5 - You'll Know it When it Happens
6 - All or Nothing

16 - Aba Daba Honeymoon
17 - Bye Bye Love
