last year =)This is what I want to know. I picked up a 65" C9 for $1,599 earlier this year so I feel like I did well.

Ha ha, I know. I love it to death.
It's the connection, the TV doesn't have DisplayPort and the graphics cards only have HDMI 2.0 yet, can't do 4K120 with that. The GPUs can easily drive that resolution.Ah. Maybe it was the Nvidia GPU's that can only do 1440p at 120 Hz?
Great for those who hook their PC up to the TV with the addition of G-Sync. Shame it doesn't have freesync support for those who are playing on Xbox One X. Unless it does of course and I missed something.
Why?? Your TV is perfect, unless you absolutely need vrr, I don't see any big advancement
They have , it arrived just before ChristmasThey still haven't pushed the C9 G-Sync update in Europe ffs :(
Yes, but OLED has burn-in issues, and you need a 2000+ series to use Gsync.ZX Signature series (8K OLED)
Can I use this as a PC monitor?
- 88-inch
I wouldn't be looking at the 48" to be a cheap option. What are the chances of the 48" OLED being $800.
I'd jump in at that price
The dream is deadI wouldn't be looking at the 48" to be a cheap option.
1.: High chance. The 9 series OLED TVs still need a firmware update. Two questions:
1. Any chance LG would mislead us by saying the C9 can achieve 4k 120hz?
2. What benefits will the enhanced processor in the CX really offer over the C9?
Thanks.
What version are you running? I haven't had an update since late November, I think.
I got it last week, maybe it's different per country? They still haven't pushed the C9 G-Sync update in Europe ffs :(

If it's not showing on the check updates button on the set, download the zip file and extract it to a USB stick inside a folder called LG_DTV and then insert the stick into the TV and it should detect the update and offer to install it.What version are you running? Yeah, damn those physics! 😏Disappointing that they haven't improved the panel brightness significantly in a few years.

Disappointing that they haven't improved the panel brightness significantly in a few years. No word on top emission OLED yet?
The consensus is that OLED will be passed by MicroLED in the next few years (2023-2025) and that it doesn't make sense to put a lot of R&D into OLED. MicroLED will have all the same black levels and contrast, but no burn in issues and much better peak brightness. Don't expect major advances in OLED.Any words on actually improving burn-in protection? I had thought about buying a C9, but i use my TV a lot as a PC desktop monitor - and the C9 doesn't really seem to be suitable for that.

We don't know anything specific about the panels and the actual feature set yet. That stuff mostly comes later after tech press had hands on with the TVs.Any words on actually improving burn-in protection? I feel the opposite with my 55B7V.

There have been leaps in OLED tech in the past. I'm certainly not the only one wishing for brighter displays. LG mentioned top emission OLED back in 2017 as a way to boost brightness (they mentioned starting production in 2019), but there's been nothing mentioned since then.
Yeah, but I've heard from different sources that current panels are basically the peak. The only improvement I thought LG is working on is inkjet printing of the same quality to lower production costs.
They seem to be stalling their OLED efforts, probably because micro led seems to come a bit quicker than projected, possibly even 2023.Can someone explain to me why Samsung is planning to re-enter the OLED market in the next two years?
I'm not convinced that MicroLED will ever make it to consumer's homes.

I think they are investing in both QDOLED and MicroLED which both have issues that need to be solved, so either one could end up being their premium technology. Can someone explain to me why Samsung is planning to re-enter the OLED market in the next two years? I keep reading about their re-entrance into the OLED TV market. And how MicroLED isn't that far away. Something isn't adding up here. Why would they re-enter the OLED market if MicroLED is so close to market?

Either Way, LG Display isn't likely to have major year to year improvements on OLED. From the sounds of it, the 8,9,and X series are essentially the same display with different processors.
They won't.
