This thread is so important, as are the many voices on ERA who aren't from North America/Europe. It's so easy for us to complain about our prices and inconveniences (God knows as a Canadian I've bitched about 90 dollar games forever), but the perspective brought by so many of you is incredibly helpful at bursting our privileged little bubble.
To any of you reading, thank you for the many times you've been gracious in threads that must be exhausting to read.
don't get me wrong, mate - if you have the money then by all means, spend it however you like. It's just that it gets -as you said- exhausting when people assume
everyone has the means or that everyone lives in a first world country, so that getting a gaming PC
and a console is just a matter of saving up a little.
Especially when shit like a PS5 is gonna be sold pretty much at
twice the minimum wage (320k CLP // 412 USD) here in Chile. And that essentially half of the Chilean workforce earns that minimum wage each month, or a just a tiny bit more. It's not enough to spend on a gaming console, or a gaming PC, isn't it? And that situation is pretty much replicated in every LatAm country (with major or minor differences, of course)
Obviously it's a problem that goes far, far beyond the confines of a gaming forum. We're just venting and, more or less, supporting each other knowing that this beloved hobby of ours is becoming a luxury that most can't afford.
Sorry if it comes out a bit harsh. It's not against you (or any other particular member of ERA), it's more of a rant.
