Is it really, or was this sarcasm? I honestly can't tell, I do remember Lepin stuff coming up in the old thread(s).
Lepin is quite literally knockoff lego. It's like going into a Rolex thread and talking about Rollex as a viable alternative or a Nike thread and talking about Nikee. Is it really, or was this sarcasm? I honestly can't tell, I do remember Lepin stuff coming up in the old thread(s).
[Billund, Denmark November 1, 2017] The Beijing Higher Court passed a ruling earlier this year [July 22, 2017] that recognises the LEGO® logo and the LEGO name in Chinese as 'well-known' trademarks in China. The well-known trademark recognition is an important milestone in getting broader protection for LEGO trademarks in China. This means that the LEGO Group is now in a better position to act against infringement of LEGO trademarks also outside the toy category.
Peter Thorslund Kjær, Vice President, Legal Affairs in the LEGO Group, said: "The ruling by the Beijing Higher Court is very important for the LEGO Group. It reflects the significant effort and investment put into marketing the LEGO brand and products towards the Chinese consumers, and it further reduces the risk that consumers in China are misled when they see the LEGO logo or the LEGO name in future. We are now in a better legal position acting against infringement of LEGO trademarks and defending our trademark portfolio.
"We see this as a recognition of our status in China as a known and loved brand by parents and children, and we appreciate the support from the Chinese government and authorities to ensure the continued protection of millions of Chinese consumers as well as our unique trademark and logo."
The LEGO Group actively protects its trademarks globally and each year brings relevant cases to courts to ensure that consumers can always trust that a product carrying the LEGO logo or featuring the characteristic LEGO design is genuine. "Since 1932 the LEGO name and the LEGO logo have been a guarantee of the highest safety and quality standards. We are committed to doing what it takes to protect children and assure parents that when a product features a LEGO logo it will offer the best quality, as well as be great fun to play with. We will continue to take action globally when we see attempts to mislead consumers and infringement of our trademarks and copyrights," said Thorslund Kjær.
Just got back from the Lego Ninjago Movie. Went with my three nieces, who, against my expectations, really seemed to like it.
For me. It was funier and more entertaining than I had thought. Maybe because my expectations were lower after the lukewarm reception. It's clearly subpar compared to the inventiveness of TLM and TLBM, but it's gorgious to look at, paced pretty well and had some fun jokes (even in dutch dub)
Do you think it'd be as enjoyable on your own, or was it the experience with your nieces that helped elevate your enjoyment?
I'm just about to build the Ninjago Fire Mech, which I think has a really nice red/white/black colour scheme.
This is awesome.Still not finished the death star. It's become a bloody nemesis. Been busy with work and baby so literally haven't been able to add a single brick in 2 weeks.
On the plus side, my frame arrived for my MF posters. Now mounted on my little girls nursury.
Very cool work. Nice and clean.I don't purchase many sets for myself. I tend to MOD the sets that I like for display. Gives me more time to enjoy the set while preserving space for future sets I'd like to purchase (and maybe MOD). Here's one of the smaller ones. Porsche 919 Hybrid which won 3 times in a row and called it quits! I made it 8 wide instead of 6.
Looks like LEGO's pulling a Disney and referring to returning out of production sets as coming "Out of the Vault."
Yeah, Haunted House reissue would be awesome. Let others see the glory!
dbonyx, you got any larger pictures of that beetle mod in your avatar? Looks great!
The LEGO Trademark Now Recognized as a Well-Known Trademark in China
I've never been big on Ninjago but I really enjoyed the film. The sets mechs or otherwise all seem to be great too, really good piece/price ratio for a lot of them. I will be picking up the city eventually, but suspect it will be a double VIP job :PI really have no interest in Ninjago as a ip but they made some really amazing sets that can't be ignored. I want like 2 of 70607 , such a neat little set to repurpose in my future lego city. I keep trying to convince myself I don't need ninjago city lol.
Why wouldn't you need one of the greatest sets of the year?I really have no interest in Ninjago as a ip but they made some really amazing sets that can't be ignored. Strange question incoming, not that I expect anyone to know the answer...
I was just looking at the Women of NASA page on shop.lego.com. On the top-right of the page there is a rating of about 2.5 stars out of 5 from 3 reviews. If I scroll down to customer reviews, the rating is 4.4 stars out of 5 from 8 reviews. So which is it? Presumably the rating from more reviews, but why? Bad IT system?
That being said, I would love to see some more NASA sets with some of the other major historical figures in them, like some of the Mercury or Gemini era astronauts. A Gene Kranz minifig would be awesome.Possibly that there are a bunch of deleted troll reviews that are taken into consideration on one of them. Wouldn't surprise me (both trolls trolling a set with women in it and Lego messing up their site).
Speaking of the set, I was a little bit disappointed in Jang's review. Making a dedicated Women of NASA set isn't inequality, it's a step towards equality considering that at least 75% (before 2000 probably 100%) of scientist figures up until now have been male. It's like with Wonder Woman or other female led projects - it's sad that it's so uncommon to begin with, but it needs pointing out to push awareness.
Ugh, he said that in the review? Even as a guy, I hate when the tiniest little pro-woman anything comes out and there are men who immediately cry INEQUALITY while ignoring how pretty much everything has been male dominated for... basically forever.Speaking of the set, I was a little bit disappointed in Jang's review. Yup. He does a little rant at the end. In his POV Lego should not release sets focussing on one gender, but include both as much as possible to show it's 'people' doing amazing things, not just men or women. To me he misses the point there. Having these sets to celebrate women is still very much needed, as they still are underrepresented in many fields, and to let kids know that women too played a huge part in the space programme. I do hope, with Jang, that in the near future we don't need these kind of sets, because sexism and inequality will be rooted out, and it is though of as normal men and women chase the carreers they want, not those society pushes them towards. But we aren't there yet, and a set like this can show young girls it's okay to follow your dreams...Ugh, he said that in the review? Building Resistance Transport Pod soon (it was a nice little gift).
Hoarding five new holiday sets. If I can make it through this weekend without building them, I have plans all next weekend, so I might be able to hold out to the weekend before Thanksgiving, which seems entirely appropriate by most standards.
But... I have quite the confluence of gift cards and a nice VIP balance right now. Nothing I can save or put back into an account... just money waiting to be spent. Hmm...
