There's a world of difference between a resolution bump and porting a game to a completely new system with totally different architecture.
And how the hell would PS3 owners get the PS4 version for free when the vast majority of PS3 players bought it physically?
I have said before and I will say again, if we don't hear anything by gdc about a potential ps5 in 2019 then i shall give up on 2019. I don't understand why some of you are so adamant on telling people to give up on 2019 including schreier. Why is it bothering you!? Let people hope for whatever they want and if it doesn't happen then no big deal, we just wait another year.
Really? They wouldn't want the extra coverage that comes with the entire games news industry being at E3? Naw that is 100% unlikely
Maybe that will be that requires us to implant it directly into our brain

Yeah I mentioned it a few times in the speculation thread. Not sure they would really want a repeat of that though!
I've always been team FY2019. Next year, or early 2020. Won't be late 2020, I just don't see it happening. But early 2020 makes even more sense now with the news we got.
Announcing all those games won them the narrative this gen, time to hoard announcements until next gen like MS is probably doing.

Sony and Microsoft gave us console refreshes to extend the life span of the base consoles. It was for that intended purpose that both platform manufacturers came through with a re-make of last gen with a 7 year console gen yet again.
The holy shit would be if we went all gen without no refresh for 7 gargantuan years.
In the end, If we get viable Cloud tech in the next 2 years, we could go with an even longer generation with a 8 to 10 years gen and having console refreshes and Cloud tech do the heavy lifting and carry the console userbase and infrastructure of the big 3.
It will benefit virtually everybody (developers and console manufacturers) as developing times have gotten longer and starting from a 0 installbase with every new console release has become a quite problem.
(Doesn't sit well with investors, vastly reduced quarterly profit margins, PlayStation resetting its revenue and becoming a smaller profiting sector of Sony than what it was and waiting years to get it back, etc.)

TLoU2 and Death Stranding cross-gen alone will do.
Add in the new CoD, 2K, Madden, FIFA, and something from GG (Horizon 2?) or SSM (two teams, right?).
Done.
Watch it be early 2020 and then team2020 is all "Uh, still counts as 2020!"
Also add in backwards compatibility with PS4 games updated to 4K60.

Please do not sound like a rocketship. That is honestly all I want. It ruined the PS4 Pro for me, so I hope the PS5 is improved so I can get back into the PS ecosystem.
I still think it's going to be holiday season 2019, but if it did release 2020, would it be in November, or maybe earlier in the year?
March and November are the most likely months. If it comes March I'll consider it a team 2019 win because technically it's true (FY 2019).
Holiday 2020.
If Sony is skipping E3 the PS5 isn't coming out in 2019.
