Pretending that everyone else who doesn't like or believe this dude is more emotionally invested than you is such a corny move.
This hand waving of peoples legitimate concerns and emotions absolutely boggles my mind .
Lots of people are rightfully hurt who were fans. He's said and done a lot of stuff that's damaging to a lot of people who used to look up to him for having literally the opposite message.
People have a right to be angry and hurt. I don't understand this criticism. Dude's got a huge ass platform and uses it to spread hate.

I'm not mad at Kanye nor do I feel the need to "forgive" him. He is who he is: an s-tier narcissist who is obsessed with the power of media and celebrity, mixed with stupid views on art as controversy; he thinks he's being subversive or "punk" by supporting Trump. He has no political or idealogical position, he can't even tell you why he supports Trump outside of some vague ramblings about factories. This is about ego and Kanye recognizing Trump as a master of media and how to wield celebrity power.
Candace was always going to fuck this up. She's an incredibly stupid woman who has been elevated by conservative white men who have bought into her grift: that she can "red pill" blacks into supporting republicans. I can imagine how a smart person could have handled this pretty well. Instead she....rolled out a poorly designed website filled with blatantly fraudulent information, peddling poorly designed clothing allegedly tied to Kanye. But. Im black too. And it pisses me off to no end when we give celebrities such huge voices in our community. Kanyes voice should be nothing more than a great musician. He's not a leader, not some great political figure, not some person of authority, not a highly intelligent/educated person. He's just a rich man who makes great music with a huge voice. Let me tell you about a little story called "the boy who cried wolf". A boy somehow got eaten for being a dick. Repeatedly. After being warned to stop. And everybody thought he deserved it.

It's easy to say that he's just a singer and a rapper but that doesn't remove the reality that there are people who do look to him as an idol and don't just stop listening to him when the music stops. Whether people should care what he says is secondary to the fact that people do and did listen to what he says. He was useful as a tool to the alt-right as a public influence. People shouldn't listen to what the fuck people like Candice Owens says or Dinesh D'Souza and yet they persist because there is a population that does.

You don't think Kanye trying to rebrand MAGA from hate to love/literally embracing Trump and his rhetoric did damage? Providing his platform to Candace Owens? You don't think any of this has a negative impact, especially on young people? It's like, you just got done talking about that celebrities get worshipped or are given too much influence by people... which isn't wrong....but then you're angry that people recognize exactly what you're saying and therefore can consider their actions damaging.
If you'd put two and two together one conclusion should lead you to understand what they mean by 'damage'. it feels like you might consider that some of those 'fuck him' responses are coming from people who share the same frustrations you do.
More like it says something about our culture that we value the opinions of actors and singers more than scientists and actual experts. I've lost count the number I've times I saw someone on Facebook or twitter not give a shit about a scientific article about global warming or refugees, only to start throwing their full support behind the cause whenever a celebrity they like retweeted it.
