You expect an Atlus game to drop 40 dollars in a few months?Give it a few months and it will be at 20 or so, just like any expansion this gen.

No, we hate (JP)Atlus' scummy business practices.
I don't think you can include GaaS games for comparison, those games rely on continued spending through microtransactions. Both Divinity Original Sin games got major reworkings for free. Ghost Recon Breakpoint just completely reworked most of the core gameplay systems as a free update last month. Fallout 76 is doing so today with Wastelanders. There are many, many other examples of games being reworked from the ground via free updates.
Yeah, fair point (and others who made it).I think you'll find your common thread there is also that those games all released on new platforms when they did that, not the same. If Dragon Quest XI tried to sell it's stuff for 60 bucks on PC and PS4, it'd have gotten a lot of shit too (and if you followed discussions about that game's Switch changes, a lot of people were willing to pay for the changes as DLC, just not 60 dollars).
Monster Hunter also just changed that very same business model with Iceborne.
I agree with this.
Atlus fans are sheep like. Always willing to buy whatever they make no matter what.
show me ANYBODY charging extra money for QoL and graphics update this gen, literally ANYBODY but these people.
These were dlc and xeno 2 added big shit.
There is absolutely no way the changes they made could have been done through DLC.
The changes are massive, extensive and change a hell of a lot about the game.
Not an excuse when its the same damn eShop account used to purchase both games. I'm not asking for free copy, but don't charge me $60 again for an original $50 game. While shitty on its own, that one has at least the excuse of being on a new device, thus being for a new audience.
P5R is one the same console as the original, so it doesn't even have that excuse.
Catherine Full Body was $30 on PSN in 2 months soooo....
Nintendo/Pokemon company and square enix aren't doing shit like this anymore. This is a straight up fleece.
We literally have people in the thread saying they will automatically buy an atlus game no matter the price. What else would you call it?
I'm constantly shitting on Nintendo about anything dumb they do, whenever possibleYou can totally say this about ports from Wii U, though. Also, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
This is what I've been reading from friends who got it. Said the beginning is full of changes. There is absolutely no way the changes they made could have been done through DLC.

how much is xeno dlcPersona 5 Royal adds as much content as the Golden City of Torna so I really don't see the point. Torna was even its own release if you wanted a physical copy. I don't get you saying the added content is only 45-60 minutes which is just not true.
P3D and P5D both got trashed and had poor sales to boot, though.
We literally have people in the thread saying they will automatically buy an atlus game no matter the price. What else would you call it?
I don't know how hard it is to program and integrate this stuff into base game, but new DLC characters are part of the story right from the beginning. You start making bonds with them right off the bat. This is what I've been reading from friends who got it. Said the beginning is full of changes.
The way this thread is written feels like there are no changes whatsoever. Are the changes not big enough for the OP?
I think the business model is a valid discussion, but I don't think it needs hyperbole. The argument holds. At the very least, make it full price for new customers, and give a discount to the ones who have the original.
They do, but it's mostly agreed in those same pieces that this is a very high-quality product, with enough content (new and old) to justify the asking price.
TMS from WiiU to the expanded edition on Switch, like SMT SJ on 3DS, is another example of Atlus adding new characters and a dungeon and calling it full price, but as pointed out above it's a different platform. You can totally say this about ports from Wii U, though. Also, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Seems like OP skipped everything, except palaces. And even then they probably played on the Safe difficulty and skipped boss fights without noticing changes. This is what I've been reading from friends who got it. Said the beginning is full of changes.

In Japan, it performed worse than the original Wii U version of the game. At least in the UK, it performed slightly better than the original. Overall, probably about the same as the original TMS, so poorly.Rightly so. Do we know how Tokyo Mirage Sessions did on Switch yet? You always seem like the one to ask these sorts of things. :P
Citing online GaaS that failed, really badly, commercially and critically, as your examples, is utter nonsense. Both Divinity Original Sin games got major reworkings for free. The original game doesn't have a pro patch.I'm so surprised it sold so well outside Japan when the top review on Amazon JP gave it 1 star and told exactly the same things OP did. And here I'm seeing people who already played the original playing Royal.
I finally picked up the original on a PSN Sale and don't think it would differ much from Royal since I guess it at least got a few patches compared to on release.
Is the Pro patch good?
The Division 2 and even Destiny 2 dropped large QoL and system revision updates for free. This is not some uncommon thing.Citing online GaaS that failed, really badly, commercially and critically, as your examples, is utter nonsense.
This is my takeaway as well. There is no credibility in anybody that dismisses or downplays what has been changed in this game as merely a new chapter and some QoL. They clearly skipped everything assuming nothing else changed and didn't bother to actually explore all the new changes and experience anything that was altered.Seems like OP skipped everything, except palaces. And even then they probably played on the Safe difficulty and skipped boss fights without noticing changes.
What patches, it got nothing but paid dlc, which is all included free with Royal. You're being mislead on what is in P5R vs vanilla.I'm so surprised it sold so well outside Japan when the top review on Amazon JP gave it 1 star and told exactly the same things OP did. You're not denying it mate. You just got called a scrub. Gotta defend your weeb honour.
Not really. There's battle music packs that let you change the music to P1-4 tracks, but they were free for the first month. There's no DLC other than that, which is shocking considering it's from Atlus and Koei Tecmo.Does Persona 5 Scramble have dlc? If so, I may wait for a definitive edition

I have never played this and would like to.
Is it better to go half price and buy P5 or pay for this?
Are you competing in a hyperbole competition or something?A full $60 for basically the same EXACT the game for an extra dungeon, some QoL improvements and a pro patch.
A hundred times, Royal over vanilla. There is no reason to play the base game.I have never played this and would like to.

100% agreed.A hundred times, Royal over vanilla. There is no reason to play the base game.
Currently 32,99€ and was 40€ on release. I can now get Persona 5 Royal for 45€ so... uhm?
