Yeah its the small % of auto enthusiast fault and not the millions of SUVs and trucks on the road.

Car will be pretty amazing but not digging the looks of it. A bit too boy racer, looking fwd to final form though.
Who are all these people driving manual, is it a European thing?
Nothing gives you the feeling of being one with the car like being able to shift gears yourself. Not long ago that was the way to go for performance. Its now been passed up by DCT transmissions and even some autos. The issue is autos are boring and DCT are great when they work right and a fucking nightmare when they dont. What's wrong with no manual? It's all about paddle shifting these days for performance.

The chief engineer actually encourages people to try and swap if they want: https://jalopnik.com/toyota-confirms-a-four-cylinder-supra-1827655518I am betting my house that someone is just going to do a 2JZ engine swap and manual conversion on this just for the fuck of it.
Tada also remarked that, for the Supra owners who plan to swap in a 2JZ engine, "please buy the four-cylinder. It will be cheaper."
..........?Buddy at work just bought a used BMW 135 with a turbo 6 and an automatic, he hates the automatic lol. Like why did you buy it then? I didn't say that but was thinking that. He sold his s2000 to get it and also has an older vr6 GTI. He's floored by my VW Tiguan with a stick and the apr flash. Just the concept of it lol.

Subaru is considering making the next STi electiric, and Toyota is releasing a new Supra without a manual transmission lol. What a world we live in...
Sometimes the future isnt brighter. Selling his S2000 lol
A "drivers car" as a descriptor is a very real thing
i agree, the renders based on the camoed version aren't giving me feeling of hype on its looks. i don't currently have a car and i am toying with lots of different options like the M2, RS3, M3, and I'd certainly consider this if looks and reviews are high marks.
Reported. That's basically pornography.i'd rather just get a used 240z or 280z for like $20-30k. Sure it wont have all the bells and whistles, and it wont last long, but just look at this magnificent beast:

Meh I commute in LA traffic with a manual and it's not that big of a deal.i'd rather just get a used 240z or 280z for like $20-30k. Also if you have a sports car, manual is the way to go, especially if you're on windy roads. If you're commuting on a freeway, automatic is better.
He was having a lot of maintenance issues with it as it's approaching 20 years old. The 1 series with that turbo six is pretty nuts too. Surprised he went with an auto though and is immediately complaining about it.
ULTIMATE LOL at the dude who sold his S2K for an automatic 135i.
While I can totally see the logic behind going from an S2000 to a 135i (still a light car that's nimble and fun to drive, but a more comfortable daily driver), going from an S2000 to an automatic 135i is insanity.
Factor in that the S2000 will continue to go up in value, while the 135i won't, and the fact that the S2000 is so much more reliable.... your friend must be crying himself to sleep every night.
even the 2020 corvette looks better, and I hate american cars in general (well at least this concept rendering looks great)

If I had longer emptier roads with great scenery or took trips all the time I could see myself appreciating driving more. Sometimes the act of being on the road for the trip is as fun as the trip for me.
But that's not often enough. Being one with my car and enjoying the shifting or whatever is not going to happen for me on my 7am stop and go drive to work on ugly industrial streets lol.
That's dangerously close to the Ferrari 458/488. Doesn't look like a Corvette at all to me.

jesus. that's a fucking sexy car. it's like an american ferrari. if Chevy can deliver on something close to that, that's my new car. i'll hold out for 3-4 years till that sexy beast arrives
What's up with that rear? That wheel well resembles a 2 series BMW. Looks too small.even the 2020 corvette looks better, and I hate american cars in general (well at least this concept rendering looks great)
Yep looks like a Ferrari but they are going mid engine finally so not exactly surprising.
This car is my dream car. It will also 100% outlast any new BMW built car today. With a toolbox full of basic tools you can work on this sex machine yourself. BMW builds cars these days so nobody but bmw shops can work on them. Its almost sad to see the new supra be nothing more than a borning bmw with a toyota badge.i'd rather just get a used 240z or 280z for like $20-30k. Is it bad that I have zero interest in this car? 16 year old me would have been excited. The whole Supra collaboration thing to me is just dull, and too little, too late. Supposedly only 335 hp? Unless the price is really reasonable ala the Civic Type R I don't see who buys this. The Mustang and Camaro SS have become legitimate sports cars, and in the price point above that you have the M2, Corvette, Porsche, etc.
What I'm waiting for is Mazda to get off of their asses and come out with their next rotary coupe. Even if it's hybrid drive. Wanted an RX-7, wanted an RX-8, I need them to finally stop teasing us and come with an RX-9.
No manual? LOL who is this marketed to? I expect it to be priced higher than expected, then.
That's a Ferrari 458 body.even the 2020 corvette looks better, and I hate american cars in general (well at least this concept rendering looks great)
It wasn't reliable, that was the problem with it. We were talking about how our VWs have been rock solid, and his Honda and my previous Infiniti were constantly having problems. His vr6 is like 15 years old and he has not had a single significant maintenance issue with it. My Tiguan 9 years old and all I've done is change the oil in three years of ownership.
It's a sporty car so the general preferred option is a manual.Who are all these people driving manual, is it a European thing?
I'd guess it'll start around mid-30's, low 40's at the most. 325hp is fine for that size body and class, 718 Cayman/Boxter auto's do 4.7s and top out at 170 @ 300hp. Don't think they have any designs on competing with American muscle in terms of speed:price. It's for people looking for European and Japanese sports car styling and probably better build quality, materials, fit, and finish.
