Interpolation has always looked unnatural to me. It doesn't feel right because the extra frames are fake and don't represent actual updates within the engine. It also reduces image quality because your TV is basically filling in the gaps with blurry frames. Real 60+ FPS is way better.
I read LG on OLED have the best when it comes to this, I hated the effect on movies though but it might look good on games. You can always try.. I don't know how good it is on LG but on my x900e is totally playable for me at least.
Fast camera movement games can be a problem sometimes but the worst you will experience is the real framerate of the game for a few seconds.
I only use it on third person games or Rpg games. People should try this before saying "is 200 ms I can't believe you play like this".
On Rpg's for example works perfect. On third person adventure games they are totally playable.
People should try this before saying "It's 200 ms unplayable".
I don't personally buy into that view, but it's sort of akin to preferring a lower resolution/lower settings and a higher framerate. Not a one-to-one comparison, but I think you see my point.
Generally higher framerate also causes lower input lag as well.I just dont see why id want it to look like pseudo 120fps regardless. the whole point of higher fps is responsive visual feedback. which isnt happening.
You can see how these recontruction technique's have evolved and beomce commonplace, but as usual the tech is all being geared up to improve the graphics rather than the experience.
You mean if motion interpolation looks like 120hz native? Not even closeDoes it copy the same effect? I haven't tried 120hz yet on my PC, got proper 1080 but never a monitor. I got LG OLED B6 and it has motion interpolation but people told me not to turn it on.
The LG C8 can interpolate 60fps content up to 120fps. It's extremely obvious. 30fps content only interpolates to 60, of course. You mean if motion interpolation looks like 120hz native? Not even close
Do you people speak from experience? On many games there is no artifacts or stutter.
I'm telling you.. Horizon Zero Dawn looks incredible with motion interpolation.. some tv's have like 60 ms with interpolation ON and is totally playable.
That I did not know, interesting. Do you have to be outputting at 1080p to get 120fps?The LG C8 can interpolate 60fps content up to 120fps. It's extremely obvious. 30fps content only interpolates to 60, of course.
You shouldn't use this. The input lag is often over 100ms, even in singleplayer games this is too much.
Nope. It can interpolate to 120 from any source. You can also playback 4K120 content from USB.That video shows the same random jittery effect I see when using interpolation with the TVs I have.

Now this is someone that knows what he's talking about :) I have a LG B6 though should probably upgrade to C8, is it huge of an improvement when it comes to HDR/4k and new features?I don't use it often due to latency but certain games can benefit. Octopath Traveler looks great with it and doesn't require super responsive controls so it's fine.
What I do like is how enabling motion interpolation on 60fps content basically interpolates up to 120. So side scrolling games look insanely smooth. The lag, though, hurts it (on the C8 it goes from 21ms to 100ms)

Thanks! Now how to break this news to my wife...Yes!
Much brighter HDR game mode, brighter overall picture, black frame insertion for cleaner scrolling, greatly improved scaling for 1080p content, 1080p120 support and a faster interface.
True, I might as well wait for that. It's probably better to wait for next year's models, as they will very likely have HDMI 2.1.
