Changing it from "Ogay" to "Skub" definitely seems like one GIANT missed opportunity.
Oh well.
Oh well.
They probably don't know a damned thing about They Live and think Duke 3D originated the "kick ass and chew bubble gum" line. They made an 80's action movie game and they shot down a They Live reference in favor of a homophobic joke?
I'm still confused about wheher they're changing the joke or not. They keep saying the bottle itself is still in the game, but also
while also defending the original joke, so which one is it?
Given the situation, Skub would have been actually a very funny replacement. As it represents the fight surrounding this in a funny way. But ... "ogay" stays :(Any of the other alternatives would have been fine, but they chose to go with the only homophobic version (and then doubled down on it by signalling their support of bigotry). Fuck them, I hope this fails and they go under.
It's being sold on GOG, too.Absolutely disgusting and abhorrent. Why isn't this a bigger outrage on this forum? I sincerely hope it's not because users don't want to criticise Steam during a "sensitive" time...

Honesty. The vitriol leveled towards Epic Games on this forum has been so extreme and heated, I do think there are members self-censoring to do their part in ensuring Valve isn't thrown into another PR nightmare.
There is a significant difference between this and that. For one, THQ Nordic isn't releasing an openly homophobic game in 2019.Era continues to advertise THQ games after their 8chan incident why would there be a bigger outrage over this
CD Projekt ought to pull the game as well then.
That'd require Valve to have principles.
Sure. But your original speculation on the conspiracy of silence to protect Steam was unfounded.
Yet if this was Epic Games or Microsoft, that would have already happened, no?

Uhm, Epic has an on-going partnership with THQ Nordic. I doubt they'd care.Yet if this was Epic Games or Microsoft, that would have already happened, no?

Stop and ask yourself what you want this to be about.Yet if this was Epic Games or Microsoft, that would have already happened, no?
Because its demonised as the Devil incarnate, and many in this forum seem to give Steam a free pass for mass distributing hate content.

yeah, so many good puns passed over for some teen angstHoly crap. This would have been much funnier, relevant Easter egg.
Ya know...the actual funny thing about this is that youre probably the same person who would scream about the govt coming after violent video games...and yet here you choose to frame violence as more off putting than a random, unfunny, and unnecessary "joke". Self awareness, what is it? lol
That may be the most whiplash-inducing post history I've seen. I'm really curious as to what's going on.
Oh it now filters those reviews, was wondering few days ago why it hasn't kicked in yet. I strongly dislike review bombing and I'm never in favor of it.Steams review bombing detection is now on and the game is back to +95% rated. A bit late. But I'm not sure if Voidpoints "no cencorship" statement is pureley due to the reviewbombing, more like a wierd attempt at pleasing both sides. Well, the "SJW"-hating crowd seems really happy that they got their soap back..
dunno if you caught the other parts of the thread about the transphobic attitude in their discord server too. from devs, no less. sure, people may enjoy the game, but if that comes at the cost of funding that kind of environment, then I'll take my money elsewhere.Steams review bombing detection is now on and the game is back to +95% rated. Whatever... sad that this mess overshadows a great game.
If it were such a minor thing why did people review bomb the game into oblivion about it once the devs suggested they'd just change the text on it?
because chuds are special snowflakes about "muh freeze peach"If it were such a minor thing why did people review bomb the game into oblivion about it once the devs suggested they'd just change the text on it?
I find it hilarious that the same idiots who review bombed the game for """"censorship"""" also claim to the "true fans" of said game. No awareness.
It's amazing how many of the responses are just lifted straight from the playground; "well what do you care, you never liked it anyway!".
The most delicate of flakes.
The review bombing would ot have affected the sales of the game at all.If it were such a minor thing why did people review bomb the game into oblivion about it once the devs suggested they'd just change the text on it?
And that's reasonable. I bought the game after the apology and it's definetly disappointing to see the way they handled it now. But I think it's more an attempt at damage control, considering it's a joint statement from 3drealms and voidpoint, and less about the trans-/homophobia from one or more devs from voidpoint. A very stupid, spineless attempt that misses the point, but still.dunno if you caught the other parts of the thread about the transphobic attitude in their discord server too. from devs, no less. sure, people may enjoy the game, but if that comes at the cost of funding that kind of environment, then I'll take my money elsewhere.
