Every game sold on steam that had a games for windows live account requirement, which was an xbox live account. Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, a bunch I know I'm not remembering.
You need an Xbox Live account.

Probably exactly like every other game on Steam that uses different services for multiplayer handles it - you'll need to log in to your MS account in order to play online.
i doubt it usually they announce that beforehand.

Yeah, a buddy of mine works with a competitor in this space. It's best for single player RPG/action games where latency is less of an issue.
