Whenever I do something "good" or achieve something at work, sometimes the response is a high five from my boss, or someone else.
I have no idea if it's just me, but I absolutely hate receiving high fives for that. It seems so patronizing to me, and it feels like they're treating me like...a kid? However I have no problem with high fives when it comes to my friends, in more casual situations like doing the high five and then bringing it in with a pat on the back, something like that. It's just the at work....it annoys the living hell out of me.
I also have a problem with being praised in a spotlight so that might also be a factor. As a psychoanalysis of myself, I've never been one to take compliments very well as I've grown up never really hearing that kind of stuff from my parents.
Does anyone else have this issue?
