Seriously, what is this? Why is it popular? I love pop music and regularly listen to top 40 stuff but this is just horrible. It's not even so bad that it's funny, it's not interestingly bad it's just devoid of anything good.

1. that high pitched "thunder" is horrible
2. the singers uptalk or however it's called is annoying "not a yes SIR not a followER"
3. it's extremely repetitive, 90% is just "Thunder, feel the thunder, Lightning then the thunder"
4. what the hell is that instrumental part at the 2 minute mark? https://youtu.be/fKopy74weus?t=119 , just horrible
5. the clapping and stomping sounds to simulate thunder are extremely cheesy.
6. a song about lightning and thunder yet it has almost no energy.
7. just to top it off, the video clip is also shit.

i challenge you to post a worse song.

Agree with OP. Song is God awful and the fact that it plays on "rock" stations is an insult.

It does sound like garbage to my ear too, OP. The high pitched "Thunder" repeat voice is incredibly annoying. It made my day worse.
i urge you to post a worse song.

The song above is also so horrible. Both the original, and then extra on top of that is this piss-cover-version which stained the mood and ending of a game with great emotional resonance.

Wow, I couldn't even finish this.

I think most pop songs suck, but this one is REALLY terrible. You chose well, OP.

I actually find it very adorably catchy. "Worst song ever" is pure hyperbole. It's decent enough and has some energy. Their whole band idea seems to centre on those kinds of tunes and they're stupid fun not anything deep and meaningful.

For a worse song I'm not even sure I want to publicly shame this person. He was this very troubled boy who used to call in (several times every day) to the customer service center I used to work at. He was very endearing in a certain way. Some quick googling showed he'd actually released an album on Spotify. We used to listen to it. Boy, that was some crazy shit. Martians, doves, airplanes. You name it. Pure crazy and devoid of any quality.

I don't really listen to them, but Thunder is especially awful, considering Believer is a pretty good song

There comes a point that songs are so bad that I can't even begin to sort through the miasma to determine a worst song.

This is definitely in that range.

I can agree on the cover, but the original is awesome

Never liked Imagine Dragons to begin with. Now, the fact that this sounds less like Imagine Dragons and more like...I don't know, Lorde? Which is weird. At the same time, it makes me laugh. It doesn't sound terrible to me, as far as the sound goes. But hey. I always had a dislike for this band's generic "alt rock" sound, so anything different is an improvement.

Song isn't good, but I dunno if it's "the worst" or anything. It's mostly...lazy sounding with a lot of missed opportunities. (those thunder "punches" could have sounded really cool if they didn't seem to compressed and weak.)

I'll basically forget anything about it ten minutes from now. So I suppose in that respects it's really bad because being forgotten is worse than being remembered for being awful.

I don't understand how it keeps playing on the radio because it's a sure fire way to get me to change the station

If Chainsmokers released a song this year, then Imagine Dragons can't possibly have released the worst song of the year.

Lmao the hate this band gets on the net is almost on the same level of ridiculousness as the Nickelback hate. The music is fine. They make some good pop music and have success with it.

I'm pretty sure OP's like this shouldn't be allowed since it's just subjective opinion and there is absolutely no discussion except to say whether you agree or disagree with the OP. And OP if that's the worst song you have heard all year you must A) not listen to music much B) have no taste in music considering it's a good song. See I can make ridiculous comments to! Remember it's okay not to post!

I'm with you, OP. It's like they hit it big with the Radioactive song (which I do like), and so the Powers That Be decided they were going to force all the rest of their singles to be hits too, no matter how shitty. That Believer song is garbage too, and yet I'm hearing it in friggin' car commercials.

In a world where reggaeton exists, any song that doesn't belong to that genre is objectively not the worst song ever.

That said, this song is bad indeed. I hadn't heard it before, and I plan on never doing it again. I even paused a Jethro Tull album to listen to this crap (to be fair, I'm not a big fan of A, which is more of an Ian Aderson solo album than a band effort).

Imagine Dragons is the worst band name of all time
I think Butthole Surfers is a little worse. Though it's funnier too.

First time I'm hearing it but it just sounds like typical popular music, simple and repetitive song structures for "easy listening".

The criticisms in the OP is pretty much the same criticism of popular music itself.
