Rydia was probably the most "useful" of any final fantasy game I played but it benefited having a large cast and offensive magic being regelated to just her at times.

I walked into this thread not sure of my answer, but yes. It's undoubtedly Vivi.
As supporting characters? Red Mages are superior. Or if you need someone who's secondary but on offense, gimme a monk every time. So Tifa maybe. She's kind of the classic FF monk.

Isn't squalls lionheart the strongest character attack in all of final fantasy not accounting for later games break damage limit stuff.
Is this supposed to be a difficult choice? Zack is the superior character in every possible way.
To be fair, I would have voted against Zell for almost any other Final Fantasy character ever except maybe Hope. I'd give him the edge over Hope. Sometimes people just have different tastes.
