Wipeout Omega Collection is a remastered collection (duh) of Wipeout HD/Fury and Wipeout 2048, running at a butter-smooth native 4K 60FPS on the Pro, and if you have a PSVR the whole game is VR compatible.

Please check it out, it has a shitton of content, replay value, amazing controls, beautiful graphics, a great OST, it's challenging... if you enjoy arcade racers I can guarantee you won't be disappointed with it. There's a huge learning curve and you'll suck at the game for months, but it's completely worth it once you get good at it.

The game is on sale for $6-11 all the time, if you're even a bit interested in the game, for that price it's a must. I believe there's even a demo if you want to get a feel of the controls before buying it.

Indeed, best arcade of the generation! The curve isn't AS steep, you have 4-5 leagues before shit gets real. Of course, the platinum is ultra hard, but the game itself, in non-elite, is pretty doable.

Masterpiece.

There is still no one like Wipeout out there, the Omega Collection is the swan song for the series.

But I already played both games to death in their original releases, so I still do not have any desire to get this collection with no new content.

New game when Sony?

It's amazing isn't it. And I've never even tried the VR. It's gutting that it didn't sell better so we could be getting a Wipeout sequel.

Just imagine a next gen Wipeout.

I tried the demo in VR and it was not for me, I had to lay down after playing it for 15 minutes.

Might try out the non VR Wipeout though.

I had planned to. One question: does the Racebox mode let you race any track, or do you have to unlock them first?

I guess it still was hard for me since I went from Wipeout 3 SE to this, so having to barrelroll and side-shift constantly took me off guard :p

Any track in any game mode. You won't have every ship unlocked though (on Wipeout HD it's not a problem since they're just skins, but in 2018 there's some ships with different stats).

The VR experience of Wipeout is worth the price of admission (PSVR) alone. Wipeout in VR is like racing on a rollercoaster. The 120 fps allows you to respnd quicker, steer better...it's probably like being a frickin jedi. I only wish they would make the game compatible with the HOTAS flight stick.

Since the PS1 this has been a game I've loved due to it's visuals, soundtrack, etc. But I have little fun actually playing it. I used to buy Wipeout games out of habit, I think after the Vita I decided I didn't like them as much as I thought.

Wipeout Omega Collection is the first time I've enjoyed Wipeout! I play it in VR with the dpad controls and difficulty on medium/low.

I never really enjoyed Wipeout before. I bought the PS3 version and really didn't like it, as it felt so bland and the combat didn't click for me.

The only courses I enjoy are from the 2048 campaign, as they're much more fun and crowded than the PS3 tracks.

I keep almost picking it up because of how often it's been on sale. I blame the last 2+ years of incredible new releases for no room in my gaming budget.

Damn your gifs though Sunhi. Makes me want to pick it up today.

This release made 2048 shine so much brighter. The ps4 pushed the art direction so high it looks incredible

When I tried the demo the other day on my base PS4 there seemed to be a lot of jaggies. Is that representative of the final game for us peasants?

This is hands down the best game for PS VR.

2048 is better. It has more atmosphere and more hardcore track design. Its closer to classic WipeOut I think.

How does it compare to F-Zero GX? I've always held some interest in trying out the game, but the controls look less tight than in GX.

It is great indeed. I bought the "faux PS1 casette" cardboard sleaved edition. There's a really solid amount of content in this game. It is also great to have a high fidelity version of 2048 for playing on the big screen.

Must've been bug or something, I have a Slim and never noticed a single framedrop.

Wipeout isn't F-Zero, if that's what you're asking. It'd be like buying COD when you want to play Battlefield.

Still, I'd say try the demo. You may end up liking it.

Yeah I'll definitely grab it next time its on sale (EU PSN) then.

It's truly special, and one of the few games I actually play BETTER in VR. For some reason things in this in this game just "click" more for me with depth, even at higher speeds I find myself doing better. It's a blast.

It's an amazing package. The only complaint I can think of is that the main campaign feels like a grind. There are so many events and all you see is this hexagon grid that looks cool but also aseptic. No race feels special. Maybe they should've worked more on the presentation outside the races.

I did not realize the whole game had VR. I was planning on getting a PSVR and this might be the catalyst. I adore Wipeout Omega.

Yep, it's a fantastic game and also a must have for VR owners (keeping in mind that is one intense experience).

I'm just missing the "Eliminate 50 Opponents Online" trophy. Anyone else up for some online games today or later this week? ;)

Jaggies aren't framedrops, I'm talking aliasing.
Oh, sorry. I haven't noticed anything like that, but I'm not the most perceptive when it comes to aliasing. Watch the Digital Foundry analysis, maybe they cover it there.

It's an amazing package, but AFAIK the PS4 soundtrack isn't the same as the originals.
If you have PS Music downloaded the game automatically recommends you a playlist with some of the older Wipeouts' OST and the game automatically mutes the music for you, it's pretty neat.

WipEout peaked for me at 3 on the PSX. 64 still has my favorite controls in the series but is seriously limited in content. Didn't like Pure or HD Fury (both of which I expected to after reading impressions) and Omega similarly left me disinterested

I do hope Wipeout returns, but at least Omega is a fantastically done collection and very substantial for any player to go through.

If Sony were to do a new Wipeout, it'd be well suited as a launch racer and a graphical showcase for their next system. But I'm thinking it's doubtful at this stage sadly.

It was my first Wipeout experience. Far more enjoyable that FAST for example, with better controls and the gun feedback feels so good. A lot of content too

VR allows for depth perception similar to actual reality, its helping you judge distances/corners. You dont get that looking at flat monitors/TVs.

2048 is one of my favorite racers of all time. Idk why I haven't got this yet. Loved Pure too, Pulse was okay.

i really should get back to this,i still haven't finished the 2048 content let alone started HD,fury stuff.

i have so many other things to play i sort of just play it when i get a racer itch.
