Docked 99% of the time, handheld only on rare occasions.
Personally I think the game is overrated. I think it strayed too far from what makes Zelda unique - it put too much emphasis on open-world exploration and just shoe-horned in a little of everything else. What was in quantity was repetitive/stale (shrines, weapon durability, side quests, story) or not enough (dungeons, bosses). I know this was the point of the game and overall it was okay, but not what I wanted. Spent over 100+ hours to explore the entire map and do everything in the game, but it wasn't rewarding and felt forced.
I hope BOTW2 reigns it in and puts a focus on dungeons, items, progression, and gives it a good narrative. You know, like a traditional Zelda game.
