If it comes in at $499. I don't see how Microsoft can come in and under cut the price by $100 @ $399 for XSex's launch. That console with the higher end 12 Tera Flops CPU will cost more to make compared to PS5

People are freaking out about price, but I give it a very low chance we see it today. It's not the right time yet. I give it like 60% chance of even seeing the box.
You really thing this is a possibility?

Imagine a world where Apple has a press conference hinting heavily about a new iPhone but when it rolls around all they show are "updated apps" or "new features" for the new iPhone and never actually show the phone or reveal price/release date. Imagine the shit show that would commence.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell Sony would be as naive or dumb especially with how this event is being marketed online. If they don't reveal the actual box and/or price and/or release date they are going to get raked over the coals.

$499.99 high?! It's the bare minimum for the hardware being presented for both the ps5/series x

I'd buy net £400 and would wait until that happens with say an official bundle or something.

I don wonder if I should buy before Brexit proper though...

No plausible price is a barrier one for me personally and so I'll be getting the console at launch if I can secure one, but I think a console would struggle to find a large enough above $499 given where the economy is likely headed. They could probably sell out at launch even at $599 or $699 but sales would dry up fast and that would scare away the developers Sony needs to support the platform.

In my mind: it's going to be aggressively priced, no question. Whether "aggressive" can actually get them as low as $399 is less clear. I wouldn't write off $429, $449, or $469 as possibilities - but I don't think there's any chance it's above $499.

$499 or less is about where I'm at for day one. Hoping for $399, but I doubt it (that's what I voted for in the other thread).

it's a fancy piece of kit. I'm expecting 500 at the 'low end' and I consider that a good price.

Ken Kutaragi once told me to get two jobs for a PS3.

I won't be surprised if this thing costs $600 or more this time around.

Not even $499 is a good price... In my country, with our devaluated currency it'll cost more than twice our minimum monthly wage.

I would be really surprised if they announced price today. I will buy one unless it's like 1000 or something ludicrous. I think 500 or below is where it's going to be though.

Personally it doesn't bother me because i always buy the slim version when it's bundled with a game. I'm expecting it to cost 499 at launch though.

I don't think they're going to reveal the price today, but I'm personally expecting it to be a $500 console. I can see it being more, I can see it being less, but I'm expecting $500, and I think that's reasonable. Technology in general is grown exponentially over the decades, and the cost of that growth isn't cheap. As an adult, I can't expect modern consoles to cling to the cost structure of consoles in the past. At some point, that becomes an unreasonable expectation. Between the high cost of the tech, and potentially raising the price of games to compensate for the high cost of game development, I'd rather choose paying the premium for the hardware, and keep game prices at $60. I know for damn sure I wouldn't be happy paying $80 for a game (unless it included what we'd expect from season passes and dlc).

The price doesn't sell me on consoles. Show me the games! If it launches with some amazing titles that demonstrate why I need to spend the money then I'll get it.

All depends on the exclusives. Kinda doubt I'll get one at launch, but if the showing and this year's releases are good enough I might have one preordered by the end of the day.
